Manzardo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Manzardo has turned in a 204 wRC+ in a small sample of 34 plate appearances against southpaws this season, but the Guardians will still be selective with his usage versus same-handed pitching. With reigning Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal on the bump for Detroit, Manzardo will head to the bench and allow Jose Ramirez to get a partial rest as the designated hitter.

LeMahieu went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI in Saturday's 13-1 rout of the Rockies.

New York charged up its offense against the team with MLB's worst record, and LeMahieu got in on the action with his first three-hit performance of the season. It was a much-needed breakthrough for the veteran infielder, who entered Saturday having gone hitless over his previous four games. Since making his season debut May 13 following a lengthy stay on the injured list, LeMahieu has gone 7-for-26 (.269 batting average) with a home run, three RBI, two runs and a 3:4 BB:K.

The Red Sox recalled Kelly from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Kelly will likely be ticketed for a low-leverage role in Boston's bullpen. He's previously made seven relief appearances for the big club this season, logging a 9.00 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB in 10 innings.

The Red Sox optioned Guerrero to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Guerrero was up with the big club for just one day and will be sent back to the minors after giving up an earned run on two hits and three walks over 1.1 innings in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. Right-hander Zack Kelly was recalled from Triple-A to take Guerrero's spot in the bullpen.

Martinez entered Saturday's game as a pinch hitter before taking over at second base. He went 1-for-2 with two RBI in a 7-5 extra-inning win over Detroit.

Martinez knocked in the tying run in the eighth inning, then had a run-scoring double in the 10th. He has been a fixture in the lineup since he was called up in April, mainly in center field, but Lane Thomas was activated off the injured list this week and might reclaim the starting job. As such, Martinez could be headed for a utility role. He's slashing .281/.305/.405 with two home runs, 17 RBI, four steals and 15 runs over 37 games.

McGonigle (ankle) has gone 2-for-7 with two doubles, three walks and one run in three games since being activated from High-A West Michigan's 7-day injured list Tuesday.

The middle infielder sprained his right ankle in his season debut April 4 and missed nearly seven weeks of action before getting activated. McGonigle was cleared to rejoin the Tigers' Midwest League affiliate after he completed a six-game rehab assignment at Single-A Lakeland, during which he produced a .235/.350/.353 slash line over 20 plate appearances.

Thomas started in center field and went 0-for-4 with a walk in Saturday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Tigers.

Thomas made his second start since being activated off the injured list Wednesday and is 0-for-8 with an RBI. Cleveland center fielders currently rank last in MLB with a .504 OPS, which indicates Thomas may not have a secure hold on the center field job. Angel Martinez, Nolan Jones and Daniel Schneemann are also in the mix.

Carpenter is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Carpenter has a .176/.171/.382 slash line over 35 plate appearances against left-handed pitching this season, so the Tigers will limit his exposure to southpaws now that the roster is beginning to get healthier. Matt Vierling returned from the IL on Friday, while Parker Meadows (arm) and Wenceel Perez (back) won't be far behind him. With southpaw Logan Allen on the bump for Cleveland on Sunday, Justyn-Henry Malloy will replace Carpenter in the lineup, manning right field while batting sixth.

Mayer went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

The 22-year-old was promoted between games of the twin bill and started at third base in the nightcap, but he struck out in his first three at-bats before grounding into a fielder's choice in the ninth inning. Mayer is the organization's top infield prospect and posted a .265/.342/.465 slash line with nine homers in 43 games with Triple-A Worcester before being promoted, and he should receive plenty of playing time with the Red Sox while Alex Bregman (quadriceps) is sidelined.

Rogers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Since being activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Rogers has operated as the Tigers' clear No. 2 catcher. He's started just two of the Tigers' last six games, with Dillon Dingler behind the dish for the other four games.
