Peters will start in center field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Austin Hays will rest for the series finale, opening up room in the outfield for Peters. The 26-year-old will be making his fifth consecutive start, after opening the season by going 4-for-12 with a double, a stolen base, a run and a 2:6 BB:K. Though Peters isn't necessarily locked into an everyday role, the White Sox could continue to open up starts for him by building in occasional rest days for veterans such as Hays and Andrew Benintendi.

Torkelson is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Arizona.

Torkelson will receive his first day off of the season after going 3-for-20 with eight strikeouts through five games. Colt Keith will get a start at first base for the Tigers in Wednesday's series finale.

Varsho is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

With a lefty (Kyle Freeland) on the hill for Colorado and the Blue Jays wrapping up their season-opening homestand with a day game after a night game, the left-handed-hitting Varsho will receive a breather Wednesday. Myles Straw will step in for Varsho in center field and will bat eighth.

Lukes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

The left-handed-hitting Lukes has started in just two of the Blue Jays' first six games, with two of his absences coming against lefties and two coming against righties. Toronto will go with a starting outfield of Davis Schneider, Myles Straw and Jesus Sanchez from left to right in the series finale versus Colorado.

Pena (finger) could be ready to play in back-to-back games this weekend, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Pena managed to avoid an injured list stint but has started every other game so far this season as the Astros ease him back into action following a fractured right ring finger. The 28-year-old is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox and the Astros are idle Thursday, so he could be ready to play back-to-back contests as soon as Friday and Saturday against the Athletics.

Barger is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

After sitting against right-handed starter Ryan Feltner on Tuesday, the left-handed-hitting Barger will remain on the bench for the series finale while southpaw Kyle Freeland takes the hill for Colorado. Jesus Sanchez will spell Barger in right field and will bat seventh.

Berrios (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is expected to face hitters Saturday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

The veteran righty is on the shelf due to a stress fracture in his elbow, but he's attempting to rehab it without surgery. Berrios had built up to 63 pitches in his last spring outing before being shut down, so once he's cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment, he may need only one or two starts. The Blue Jays' pitching depth has been tested early, with Cody Ponce (knee) the latest starter to go down. but Berrios appears to be on track to return before the end of April and beat both Trey Yesavage (shoulder) and Shane Bieber (forearm) back to the active roster.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Casas (knee) will be will be shut down from hitting after sustaining a left intercostal strain, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Casas missed time during the 2024 season due to torn cartilage in his left rib cage, though this setback appears unrelated. He hasn't undergone an MRI and will be re-evaluated in a few days. The first baseman is on the 10-day injured list as he continues his recovery from patellar tendon surgery and faces an uncertain timetable. If the intercostal issue is deemed serious enough of a setback, Casas will be a candidate to shift to the 60-day IL.

Fluharty (knee) made relief appearances in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Athletics and Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Rockies, recording three outs and allowing no runs on one hit between the two outings.

Fluharty made his season debut out of the bullpen in Saturday's 11-inning win over the Athletics but was lifted early after taking a comebacker on the inside of his right knee. Fortunately for Fluharty, X-rays on the knee returned negative, and he was made available in relief one day later.

Van Eyk could be the pitcher called up to replace Cody Ponce (knee) in the big-league rotation, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Lazaro Estrada was the pitcher promoted in the immediate wake of Ponce's injury, but he's unlikely to be used as anything more than a long reliever. Van Eyk is on turn at Triple-A Buffalo, and he looked good in his season debut Tuesday, allowing one run over four innings with a 5:1 K:BB. The 27-year-old right-hander isn't yet on the 40-man roster, so an additional move would need to be made to open up a spot, but with Ponce expected to miss more than two months he could be shifted to the 60-day IL to make room.
