Twins' Zebby Matthews: Activated ahead of start
The Twins reinstated Matthews (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Saturday.
After missing more than a month with a shoulder strain, Matthews will return from the IL and start Saturday's game versus Colorado. The 25-year-old is coming off a brilliant minor-league start, during which he struck out nine batters in four shutout frames, and he'll be welcomed back to the big leagues by a Rockies offense that ranks 27th in MLB with a .673 OPS this season. Travis Adams was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Rays' Chandler Simpson: Excels in leadoff spot
Simpson went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored Friday against the Orioles.
Simpson has occupied the leadoff spot for the Rays in each of the last two games -- the first coming before the All-Star break -- and has gone a combined 4-for-8 with two runs scored. His ability to get on base has extended well beyond that small sample, as he's currently riding a 12-game hitting streak during which he has gone 18-for-44 with two RBI, six runs scored and four stolen bases.

Rays' Danny Jansen: Pops 10th homer
Jansen went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two runs scored and two walks Friday against the Orioles.
Jansen popped the home run in his first plate appearance of the game, bringing his total to 10 on the season. That surpasses his total from 2024, and he's also shown some signs of hitting for a better average by going 13-for-50 (.260) with 11 RBI and 10 runs scored across the last month. Jansen continues to draw around four starts per week behind the plate for the Rays.

Joey Loperfido LF | HOU
Blue Jays' Joey Loperfido: On base three times in win
Loperfido went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and an RBI in Friday's win over the Giants.
The 26-year-old outfielder was out of the starting lineup for the last three games before the All-Star break due to an illness, but Loperfido looked 100 percent healthy when the Jays resumed their schedule. He's made a big impact since joining the big-league roster in early July, going 7-for-17 (.412) with a homer, two runs and six RBI in six contests.
