Evan Carter CF | TEX
Rangers' Evan Carter: Lands on IL
The Rangers placed Carter (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Saturday.
Carter suffered the injury while making a diving catch Friday versus Boston and has subsequently been diagnosed with an oblique strain, per Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, and he will miss at least 10 days -- though oblique issues often require a longer absence. Cody Freeman was recalled from the minors to take Carter's spot on the 26-man roster, and Michael Helman could see the bulk of the starts in center field while Carter is sidelined.

Hao Yu Lee 2B | DET
Tigers' Hao-Yu Lee: Recalled from Triple-A
The Tigers recalled Lee from Triple-A Toledo on Saturday.
With Jack Flaherty (ankle) landing on the injured list Saturday, Lee will return to Detroit to provide the big club with an extra bat and start at third base against lefty Joey Cantillo and the Guardians. Lee owns just a .578 OPS across 87 plate appearances with the Tigers but has gone 9-for-30 in Triple-A since his demotion.

Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Placed on injured list
The Tigers placed Flaherty on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left peroneal strain.
Flaherty was forced to end his start Friday against Cleveland prematurely due to injury, and further evaluation determined he'll need to spend time on the IL due to complications with his outer ankle. Hao-Yu Lee was recalled from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move, while Casey Mize (thigh) is expected to return from the injured list Sunday and will presumably act as Flaherty's replacement in the rotation.

Luis Curvelo RP | TEX
Rangers' Luis Curvelo: Optioned to Round Rock
The Rangers optioned Curvelo to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.
Texas added Curvelo to its bullpen Thursday, but he'll head right back to Triple-A after giving up three earned runs in one inning Friday against Boston. The 25-year-old now owns a 7.56 ERA and 1.92 WHIP through 8.1 innings with the Rangers this year and will likely have to show signs of improvement at Round Rock before getting another shot in the big leagues. Joe Ross was selected to the active roster in a corresponding move.
-
Joe Ross RP | TEX
Rangers' Joe Ross: Selected from Round Rock
The Rangers selected Ross's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.
Ross has put up a 2.92 ERA and 1.32 WHIP through 12.1 innings at Round Rock since signing a minor-league deal with the Rangers in late May. His strong showing will earn him another chance in the majors, though he'll likely be limited to low-leverage work after allowing eight earned runs in 3.2 frames with Arizona earlier this year. Luis Curvelo was optioned to Triple-A to free up room on the active roster, and Michel Otanez was DFA'd to clear a 40-man spot.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Managing back tightness
Guerrero won't play in Saturday's game against the Yankees due to back tightness, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Manager John Schneider said Saturday that Guerrero began having problems with his back Friday, so the Jays will sit him down as a precaution. Schneider added that the slugging first baseman is already beginning to feel better, so an extended absence doesn't seem likely. Charles McAdoo will get the nod at first base and bat eighth while Guerrero rests.

Jhonny Pereda C | SEA
Mariners' Jhonny Pereda: Idle Saturday
Pereda isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.
Pereda has notched a base hit in each of his last nine games but will cede a start Saturday to Mitch Garver, who will bat eighth while catching for Luis Castillo.

Randy Arozarena LF | SEA
Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Out of Saturday's lineup
Arozarena (hamstring) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.
Arozarena tweaked his hamstring while attempting to leg out an infield single in the third inning of Friday's contest. He'll now miss his first start of the season to allow his hamstring to recover, which will move Luke Raley to left field Saturday while Victor Robles starts in right. Arozarena said Friday that he expects to miss just a couple of days, per Adam Jude of The Seattle Times, so a trip to the IL may not be necessary.

Ty Madden RP | DET
Tigers' Ty Madden: Relegated to Toledo
The Tigers optioned Madden to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Madden has posted a 3.15 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 20 innings with the Tigers this season, but he'll end up as the odd man out of a roster spot following Tarik Skubal's (elbow) return from the injured list. Madden's strong performance in the majors makes him a likely candidate to return later this summer whenever Detroit needs a fresh arm.
