Walton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

The left-handed hitter is on the bench for the fourth straight game, with the Athletics having faced lefty starters each time. Opener Erik Miller is likely to work only an inning or two for the Red Sox on Sunday, so Walton could still end up playing most of the contest.

Springer (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

Springer will miss a second straight start while he tends to a tight left shoulder. The 36-year-old was able to make an appearance off the bench as a pinch runner Saturday, so at this stage it doesn't look like he's at risk of landing on the injured list.

The Angels optioned Kerry to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

The right-hander worked in long relief Saturday in Miami after starter Walbert Urena lasted just 2.1 frames. Kerry allowed three runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and a walk across 5.2 innings. He's filled that role in his first three MLB appearances for the Angels and has pitched well with a 3.95 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB across 13.2 innings. Ryan Watson, who was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox on Friday, will fill Kerry's roster spot.

The Red Sox selected Martinez's contract from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Boston optioned left-hander Raymond Burgos to Triple-A to clear room for Martinez, who is up with the big club for the first time this season. Over 34 appearances (nine starts) at Worcester, Martinez produced a 5.46 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 52:20 K:BB in 62.2 innings. He'll be capable of covering multiple innings in Sunday's game against the Athletics as the Red Sox deploy a bullpen day.

The Red Sox optioned Burgos to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

The Red Sox will swap Burgos out for a fresh bullpen arm in Seth Martinez, whose contract was selected from Triple-A in a corresponding move. After getting called up Friday, Burgos made three-inning relief appearances on consecutive days, giving up two earned runs on two hits and no walks while striking out four and earning his first MLB save.

Wong is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Wong will give way to Jake Rogers behind the plate after starting four of Boston's previous five contests. Though he remains the top option on the depth chart for now, Wong will move into the No. 2 role as soon as the rehabbing Adley Rutschman (wrist) is deemed ready to make his Red Sox debut.

Yoshida is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

After taking a seat against Athletics left-hander Gage Jump in Saturday's 7-3 loss, the left-handed hitter now finds himself on the bench versus righty J.T. Ginn. Yoshida should still be included in the lineup against righties more often than not, and his absence Sunday looks to be the result of right fielder Wilyer Abreu being eased back in as the Red Sox's designated hitter after a sore calf kept him from playing Saturday.

Durbin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

With the Red Sox closing out their series against the Athletics with a day game, Durbin will be given a breather for the first time since June 17. Anthony Seigler will step in at third base for Durbin, who slashed an impressive .329/.408/.534 with eight home runs, nine steals, 34 runs and 28 RBI over his stretch of 45 consecutive starts.

Rutschman (wrist) went 1-for-2 with two walks, two RBI and two runs scored for Triple-A Worcester on Saturday.

He caught only five innings, but thanks to Worcester's offensive explosion -- they won 19-0 -- Rutschman got four plate appearances. He also threw out a runner attempting to steal. The veteran backstop is expected to operate as Worcester's designated hitter Sunday, per Ian Browne of MLB.com. Following Sunday's game, the Red Sox will evaluate Rutschman to determine if more time in the minors is required before he makes his debut with the big club.

Kerry allowed three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over 5.2 relief innings in a no-decision against Miami on Saturday.

Angels starter Walbert Urena last just 2.1 frames, leaving Kerry to inherit a two-on, one-out jam in the third inning. He handled that task well and didn't allow any additional damage in the frame. The right-hander took the reins from there and finished the contest, tossing a starter-like 98 pitches (64 strikes) and generating 14 whiffs and a career-high seven punchouts. Kerry worked mostly as a starter in the minors, so the big workload wasn't new to him, but he's yet to make a start in the majors. He'll presumably be down for several days following his heavy pitch count Saturday, and the imminent return of Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder) may present a risk to Kerry's roster spot.
