Melton is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

After starting in center field in the first two games of the series following his return from the injured list, the left-handed-hitting Melton will hit the bench while the Nationals send southpaw MacKenzie Gore to the hill for the series finale. Chas McCormick will check in for Melton in center field.

Matthews is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Since slugging three home runs and driving in seven runs in his first six big-league games, Matthews' production has fallen off considerably. In his last five contests, Matthews has gone just 1-for-15 with nine strikeouts, and his ongoing struggles appear to have resulted in him moving into more of a part-time role. He'll be on the bench Wednesday for the fourth time in six games.

Hatch is expected to be used in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Angel Zerpa in Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Zerpa will likely be limited to one or two innings before turning the game over to the bullpen, and Hatch represents the freshest arm among Kansas City's relief options. Hatch had been serving as a full-time member of the Triple-A Omaha rotation prior to being called up Tuesday, notching a 4.22 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 78:28 K:BB in 91.2 innings over 18 starts. The right-hander will be available on three days' rest, though he handled a relatively light workload of 2.1 innings in his final start with Omaha on Saturday prior to his promotion.

The Angels acquired Chafin and right-hander Luis Garcia from the Nationals on Wednesday in exchange for left-hander Jake Eder and first baseman Sam Brown, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Chafin holds a 2.70 ERA over 20 innings with the Nationals this season, but a 1.60 WHIP and 18:12 K:BB suggest he's been the beneficiary of some good fortune in terms of run prevention. The 35-year-old will give the Angels another lefty in the bullpen.

The Angels acquired Garcia and left-hander Andrew Chafin from the Nationals on Wednesday in exchange for left-hander Jake Eder and first baseman Sam Brown, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Garcia was dealt from the Angels to the Red Sox at last season's deadline and has now found his way back to Anaheim a year later. He has struggled in 2025, posting a 4.10 ERA and 31:18 K:BB over 37.1 innings between the Dodgers and Nationals. Garcia could wind up being part of the late-inning mix for the Angels, particularly if the club trades closer Kenley Jansen.

Baldwin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

The switch-hitting Baldwin will hit the bench for the third game in a row, though he'll be out of the lineup against a right-handed starter (Taijuan Walker) on Wednesday after sitting against lefties in the first two contests of the series. Kyle Teel will serve as the White Sox's designated hitter in the series finale while Chicago rolls out an outfield of Andrew Benintendi, Luis Robert and Mike Tauchman from left to right.

Sosa is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Chase Meidroth will step in at second base while Sosa rests after starting in each of the last five games. Since rejoining the White Sox on June 17 following a stint on the injured list, Sosa is slashing .274/.311/.484 with six home runs, one stolen base, 23 RBI and 16 runs in 34 contests.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said that India is being held out of Wednesday's lineup against Atlanta due to a sore shoulder, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Quatraro added that India will be available off the bench and should be back in the lineup Friday following the team's scheduled off day Thursday. The Royals will start Adam Frazier at second base Wednesday.

Neto went 1-for-3 with a double, a run, an RBI and two stolen bases Tuesday in an 8-5 win against Texas.

Neto was hit by a pitch to begin the Angels' half of the first inning, and then moved himself into scoring position by stealing second base. He crossed the plate later in that frame before knocking in a run with a double in the sixth, which was followed by another theft. The talented young shortstop has been active on the basepaths since the start of the campaign's second half, swiping four bags in five attempts over 12 games. He's up to 21 steals this season and is one of 10 players in the majors with at least 15 homers and 20 steals.

Jackson tossed two scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts in Tuesday's 12-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Jackson made his Detroit debut Sunday and promptly allowed four runs while walking three batters and only retiring two. His second appearance with his new team was much more promising, however, and the righty lowered his season ERA to 4.78. Jackson still projects as a low-leverage arm with the Tigers, and he's unlikely to make a significant fantasy impact.
