    Astros' Nick Hernandez: Back with Houston

    The Astros recalled Hernandez from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

    Hernandez has pitched in three games out of the bullpen for Houston this season, logging a 7.71 ERA, 2.36 WHIP and 7:5 K:BB across 4.2 innings. He's been much better at Triple-A, with a 1.70 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB over 37 innings of action.

    Astros' Jeremy Pena: Activated from IL

    The Astros activated Pena (ribs) from the 10-day injured list Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

    Pena missed the entire month of July and hasn't been in the Astros' lineup since June 27. Following the addition of Carlos Correa, Pena will stick at shortstop for Houston, with Correa taking up third base. Getting both players, along with Jesus Sanchez, will be a big boost to the lineup. Pena is slashing .322/.378/.489 with 11 home runs, 40 RBI, 48 runs scored, 15 stolen bases and a 20:55 BB:K across 350 plate appearances this season.

    Tigers' Chase Lee: Sent to minors

    The Tigers optioned Lee to Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

    Following the Tigers' plethora of bullpen additions over the last few days, Lee is the odd man out after he's been getting hit hard in recent outings. Lee has registered a 4.10 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 36:9 K:BB across his first 37.1 major-league innings.

    India (shoulder) is leading off and starting at second base in Friday's game against the Blue Jays.

    India left Tuesday's game early and didn't play Wednesday before the Royals had an off day Thursday. He's back atop the order and slashing .240/.322/.342 with five home runs, 32 RBI, 47 runs scored and a 39:71 BB:K across 433 plate appearances this season.

    Blue Jays' Paxton Schultz: Optioned to Triple-A

    The Blue Jays optioned Schultz to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

    Schultz has pitched in 12 games out of the bullpen for Toronto this season, registering a 4.56 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB across 23.2 innings. Following the Blue Jays' deadline acquisitions of Seranthony Dominguez and Louis Varland, Schultz is the odd man out.

    Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Activated from IL

    The Blue Jays activated Varsho (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Friday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

    Varsho has played in just 24 games this season and last appeared with Toronto on May 31. He's slashed .207/.240/.543 with eight home runs, 20 RBI, 14 runs scored, one stolen base and a 5:31 BB:K across 100 plate appearances on the campaign. In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays placed George Springer (concussion) on the 7-day IL.

    The Blue Jays placed Springer (concussion) on the 7-day injured list Friday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

    Springer was hit in the head with a pitch Monday in Baltimore and hasn't played since, but he'll be eligible to return to the lineup next Tuesday in Colorado. In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays activated Daulton Varsho (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list.

    Royals' Kris Bubic: Transferred to 60-day IL

    The Royals transferred Bubic (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

    Bubic has already been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a rotator cuff strain in his left (pitching) shoulder. Kansas City traded for Bailey Falter on Thursday to replace Bubic in the rotation.

    Royals' MJ Melendez: Back to Triple-A

    The Royals optioned Melendez to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

    With the Royals' acquisitions of Randal Grichuk and Mike Yastrzemski this past week, Melendez will head back to the minors. Melendez has slashed an ugly .083/.154/.167 with one home run, one RBI, five runs scored and a 3:23 BB:K across 65 plate appearances at the major-league level this season.

    Royals' Nick Loftin: Activated from IL

    The Royals activated Loftin (concussion) from the 7-day injured list Friday.

    Loftin is not in the lineup for Friday's series opener in Toronto. The 26-year-old utility man has slashed .216/.254/.378 with three home runs, 13 RBI, 12 runs scored, one stolen base and a 4:18 BB:K across 118 plate appearances this season. Loftin figures to lose playing time after the Royals' acquisitions of Randal Grichuk and Mike Yastrzemski.
