Joey Loperfido LF | HOU
Blue Jays' Joey Loperfido: Keeps raking in Coors Field rout
Loperfido went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI in Monday's win over the Rockies.
All three knocks were singles, but Loperfido still did his share of the damage in a 25-hit, 15-run barrage by the Blue Jays. It's his sixth multi-hit performance in the last 12 games, a stretch in which the 26-year-old is slashing .439/.477/.610 with a double, two homers, four RBI and eight runs. Toronto's outfield is getting crowded with Daulton Varsho back and George Springer (concussion) soon to follow, but Loperfido is making a strong case to maintain a significant role.

John Rooney RP | TB
Astros' John Rooney: Dispatched to minors
The Astros optioned Rooney to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Acquired from the Marlins via trade over the weekend, Rooney will go back to the minors without having made an appearance for the Astros. The lefty holds a 2.45 ERA and 45:23 K:BB over 33 innings at the Triple-A level this season.

Nathan Lukes RF | TOR
Blue Jays' Nathan Lukes: On base five times in rout
Lukes went 3-for-4 with two walks, two doubles, three runs scored and an RBI in Monday's win over the Rockies.
Getting the start in right field and batting leadoff, Lukes set the table for a 15-1 rout by the Blue Jays. It was his first multi-hit performance since July 25, snapping a 4-for-31 skid, but even during that downturn three of his four hits left the yard. The 31-year-old has more than held his own this year while seeing regular action in the majors for the first time, slashing .258/.348/.410 over 285 plate appearances with nine homers, 39 runs and 44 RBI. However, with Daulton Varsho back patrolling center field, playing time will be a little harder to come by for Lukes once George Springer (concussion) is cleared to return as well.

David Bednar RP | NYY
Yankees' David Bednar: Works eighth inning, nabs hold
Bednar earned a hold against Texas on Monday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning.
Bednar got the call in the eighth frame with the Yankees up by a run. He set the side down in order on 11 pitches (eight strikes). This was a much better outcome than in Bednar's team debut Aug. 1, when he allowed two runs on four hits over 1.2 innings. The veteran reliever entered in the seventh frame in that game, so it appears New York has him tabbed for a setup role. That said, Devin Williams blew his second straight save Monday and has yielded at least one run in three straight outings, so the team could shift to Bednar at closer if Williams continues to struggle.

Austin Slater RF | TB
Yankees' Austin Slater: Moves to injured list
The Yankees placed Slater on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a left hamstring strain.
Slater suffered the injury during Monday's game against the Rangers, which was just his third appearance with the Yankees after being acquired from the Reds last week. New York reinstated Aaron Judge (elbow) from the injured list in a corresponding move.

Yerry De Los Santos RP | NYY
Yankees' Yerry De Los Santos: Back in big-league bullpen
The Yankees recalled De Los Santos from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.
De Los Santos has collected a 1.78 ERA over 25.1 relief innings this season, though that's come with just a 20:12 K:BB. He will operate in middle relief.

Mark Leiter RP | ATH
Yankees' Mark Leiter: Reinstated from IL
The Yankees activated Leiter (leg) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.
Leiter is recovered from the left fibular head stress fracture that sent him to the injured list in early July, and he's back with the Yankees after delivering a scoreless frame in his lone rehab appearance. The right-hander has a 4.46 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 46:12 K:BB across 34.1 innings and should return to a middle-relief role for New York.

Aaron Judge RF | NYY
Yankees' Aaron Judge: Activated from injured list
The Yankees activated Judge (elbow) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.
Judge missed only the minimum 10 days while battling a right flexor strain. While he is able to hit, Judge has not yet resumed throwing, so he will be limited to designated-hitter duty indefinitely. It will result in a playing time hit for Giancarlo Stanton, although Stanton is expected to see some action in the outfield.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Snaps homer drought Monday
Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and three total runs scored in an extra-inning loss to the Rangers on Monday.
Goldschmidt led off the game with a 419-foot blast to left field. The long ball was his first since June 19 -- a span of 31 games. Goldschmidt batted just .212 with only six RBI during the long power drought, but he's continued to hold down a near-everyday role at first base of late, starting seven of the Yankees' past eight games.
