Tyler Wells RP | BAL
Orioles' Tyler Wells: Up to 77 pitches in rehab start
Wells (elbow) made his third rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out five.
Friday marked Wells' fourth rehab minor-league outing overall as he makes his way back from last summer's UCL surgery. He was able to stretch out to 77 pitches in the start, but Wells is expected to make one or two more rehab appearances before being reinstated from the injured list, per MLB.com. Though Wells is getting built up as a starter, it's unclear if the Orioles will have a rotation spot available for him once he returns, so he could be a candidate to pitch in long relief.

Marcus Semien 2B | NYM
Rangers' Marcus Semien: X-rays return negative
Semien had X-rays on his wrist Saturday, and those came back negative, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning Newsreports.
Semien was hit by a pitch in the wrist Friday and was held out of Saturday's lineup after the area swelled up overnight. Fortunately for the veteran second baseman, X-rays have indicated that he's not dealing with a fracture. However, it remains to be seen how long Semien will remain sidelined.

Luis Urias 2B | TOR
Athletics' Luis Urias: Taking seat Saturday
Urias is absent from the starting lineup against the Angels on Saturday.
Urias is in a rut at the plate, going 0-for-9 over his past four games. He'll get a chance to reset Saturday while Max Schuemann gets a start at second base.

Cody Bellinger LF | NYY
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Dealing with illness
Bellinger isn't starting Saturday against St. Louis due to an illness, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Bellinger's absence from the lineup turns out to be due to him being sick rather than simply getting a day off his feet. At this point, it's unclear if the veteran slugger will be available in any capacity off the bench, or if he'll need to sit out Sunday as well.

Connor Prielipp SP | MIN
Twins' Connor Prielipp: Promoted to Triple-A
Prielipp has been promoted to Triple-A St. Paul from Double-A Wichita.
Prielipp had a 3.65 ERA at Double-A with 27.0 percent strikeout rate and 6.7 percent walk rate. Prielipp has a lengthy injury history that includes Tommy John surgery in 2021 and an internal brace surgery in 2023. The organization has him on an innings limit this season, and he hasn't gone more than 4.2 innings or 76 pitches in any start. It's not clear how much he'll pitch at Triple-A the rest of the season, but this show's the 2022 second-round draft pick could be the team's plans for 2026.

Curtis Mead 3B | WAS
White Sox's Curtis Mead: Out of lineup Saturday
Mead isn't starting against the Royals on Saturday.
Mead has been a regular at third base since getting called up from Triple-A on Aug. 3, and he's held his own with a .281/.361/.281 slash line -- albeit with no extra-base hits -- along with five RBI and a stolen base over 10 games as a member of the White Sox. He's getting a breather Saturday, though, as Miguel Vargas is starting at the hot corner and Lenyn Sosa is sliding over to first base.

Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Takes live at-bats Saturday
Alvarez (hand) took eight live at-bats in Florida on Saturday and will return to Houston on Sunday as the Astros determine his next steps, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Alvarez hasn't played in a game since May 3, so he'll likely require a minor-league rehab stint of some length before he's able to return to the Astros. With that said, his ability to swing against live pitching Saturday is a promising sign that he's moving past the fractured right hand that has cost him a significant chunk of the campaign. Alvarez could be back playing MLB games before the end of August, which would be a big boon for fantasy managers who have kept him rostered amid his lengthy absence.

Cody Bellinger LF | NYY
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Sitting out to begin Saturday
Bellinger isn't in Saturday's starting lineup against the Cardinals.
Bellinger is batting just .140 (albeit with two homers and six RBI) through 13 games in August, and he'll get a chance to reset Saturday. In his stead, Jasson Dominguez is playing left field while Ben Rice is getting a start at first base.
-
Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Absent from lineup again
Stanton isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's matchup versus St. Louis.
Stanton is beginning the day on the bench for a second straight day despite hitting very well of late, as he's posted a 1.103 OPS with eight homers and 20 RBI over 22 contests since the All-Star break. A part-time role may be the necessary norm for him until Aaron Judge is able to return to playing the outfield. Stanton has been getting starts in right field recently, but Jose Caballero will man that position for the second straight game Saturday.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Still out Saturday
Goldschmidt (knee) isn't in the starting lineup against St. Louis on Saturday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for the third straight game as he deals with a low-grade strain in his right knee. That said, he was able to appear as a defensive replacement at first base late Friday (though he didn't make a plate appearance), so he could be available off the bench again Saturday. Ben Rice is starting at first base in Goldschmidt's stead.
