  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

Rangers' Jake Burger: Managing wrist issue

Burger was removed from Sunday's game against the Royals due to left wrist discomfort, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Burger went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored before being replaced by a pinch hitter during the seventh inning. The severity of the injury remains unclear, so the first baseman should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener in Kansas City.

  • Brant Hurter RP | DET

Tigers' Brant Hurter: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Tigers optioned Hurter to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Hurter hasn't given up an earned run in his past nine appearances and has a 2.45 ERA in 38 major-league appearances this season, so it's a tough-luck demotion for the left-hander. The 26-year-old also had a 2.58 ERA over 45.1 innings with the Tigers in 2024, so he should be back up with Detroit before the end of the season.

  • Connor Brogdon RP | CLE

Angels' Connor Brogdon: Loses 40-man roster spot

The Angels designated Brogdon for assignment Sunday.

Brogdon will lose his spot on the Angels' 40-man roster after he coughed up four earned runs over 1.1 innings between his last two relief appearances to bring his ERA up to 5.30 across 37 outings on the season. The Angels recalled right-hander Jose Fermin from Triple-A Salt Lake to replace Brogdon in the bullpen.

  • Brenan Hanifee RP | DET

Tigers' Brenan Hanifee: Up with Detroit

The Tigers recalled Hanifee from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

The right-hander was optioned to Toledo in early August but is back with the Tigers for Sunday's series finale in Minnesota. Hanifee has made 46 relief appearances for the Tigers this season and has recorded 11 holds with a 3.10 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB over 52.1 innings.

  • Jose Fermin RP | LAA

Angels' Jose Fermin: Summoned from Triple-A

The Angels recalled Fermin from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

Los Angeles designated right-hander Connor Brogdon for assignment to clear room on the active roster for Fermin. Over his prior two stints with the big club this season, the 23-year-old Fermin turned in a 6.63 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 24:14 K:BB in 19 innings. The right-hander will likely handle a low-leverage role out of the Angels bullpen.

  • Joshua Lowe LF | LAA

Rays' Josh Lowe: Out Sunday with tight oblique

Lowe (oblique) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Lowe will take a seat for the second day in a row after he was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's 2-1 win when he felt his right oblique tighten up while taking swings in the batting cage prior to the game. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Lowe said he doesn't expect to require a stint on the injured list due to the oblique issue, though the Rays' plans for him could change if he's unable to return to the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees following Monday's team off day.

  • Colby Thomas RF | ATH

Athletics' Colby Thomas: Receiving Sunday off

Thomas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Thomas will hit the bench after he started in each of the Athletics' last four games while going 7-for-14 with two home runs, one double, one stolen base, seven RBI and five runs. JJ Bleday will enter the lineup in place of Thomas on Sunday, but the latter player should be able to hold down a near-everyday role in the Athletics outfield until Denzel Clarke (hip) is ready to return from the injured list.

  • Brett Harris 1B | BOS

Athletics' Brett Harris: Claiming third straight start

Harris will start at third base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Angels.

After going 2-for-6 with two walks, two runs and an RBI in the first two contests of the series, Harris will remain in the lineup for a third straight game since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas. So long as he continues to deliver productive at-bats, Harris will likely hold down the fort at third base until Max Muncy (hand) is cleared to return from the injured list.

  • Luis Rengifo 3B | SD

    Angels' Luis Rengifo: Idle Sunday

Rengifo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Rengifo will retreat to the bench for the series finale after he had started in eight of the Angels' previous nine contests. Christian Moore will spell him at second base and will bat seventh.

  • Wilyer Abreu RF | BOS

Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Exits with calf tightness

Abreu was removed from Sunday's game against the Marlins due to right calf tightness, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Abreu started in right field and went 2-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run -- his 22nd of the campaign -- and an additional run scored before departing Sunday's contest in advance of the eighth inning. The 26-year-old should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener versus Baltimore.
