  • Yankees' Jonathan Loaisiga: Likely has flexor strain

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Loaisiga (elbow) is believed to be working through a right flexor strain, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Loaisiga was originally recovering from mid-back tightness that landed him on the 15-day IL in early August. However, his rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was shut down after experiencing soreness in his throwing arm over the weekend. The initial diagnosis is that of a flexor strain, but he'll undergo multiple tests and seek additional opinions to determine the specifics of the injury.

  • Alan Roden RF | MIN

Twins' Alan Roden: Will undergo surgery

Roden is scheduled to undergo surgery for his left thumb, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Roden was already slated to miss the entire 2025 season after being transferred to the 60-day IL on Tuesday, and after seeing a hand specialist, it's been determined that surgery on his left thumb is the best course of action. Roden will end the 2025 campaign with a .191/.261/.294 slash line with one steal, one triple, two home runs and nine RBI across 153 plate appearances between the Blue Jays and Twins.

  • Charlie Morton SP | ATL

Tigers' Charlie Morton: Fans eight in win

Morton (9-10) allowed two runs on three hits across six innings of work to earn the win Wednesday against the Astros. He walked three and struck out eight.

Despite facing a tough Houston lineup, Morton was able to log another quality start for the Tigers and pick up his second win with his new team. The veteran has now made four starts for Detroit since coming over in a trade before the deadline, and he's mostly looked sharp with a 3.63 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 29 strikeouts across 22.1 innings. Morton had a 5.42 ERA across 23 appearances for the Orioles earlier in the season, so fantasy managers may not completely trust him yet, but he's starting to emerge as a potentially useful option down the stretch. The 41-year-old righty lines up to make his next start against the Athletics on the road.

  • Allan Winans SP | NYY

Yankees' Allan Winans: Recalled by Bronx Bombers

The Yankees recalled Winans from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Winans has spent most of this season in Triple-A, where he's started in 14 of 16 games with a 1.20 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 82:22 K:BB across 75 innings. That success in the minors hasn't translated to the majors, and across 9.1 major-league innings he has yielded 11 runs (nine earned) on 13 hits and three walks while striking out six batters. Winans will likely serve in a long-relief role out of the Yankees' bullpen.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Drives in two Wednesday

Baez went 2-for-3 with two RBI in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Astros.

Baez snapped a three-game hitless streak with his fifth multi-hit performance of the month. He's been solid overall in August, posting a .291 batting average, a home run, a stolen base and 10 RBI across 17 games. An infielder by trade, Baez has been seeing most of his time in center field recently with Matt Vierling (oblique) and Parker Meadows (quad) both on the injured list, though the former did start Wednesday's contest at shortstop before later moving to center.

  • Chase Silseth RP | LAA

Angels' Chase Silseth: Called up by Halos

The Angels recalled Silseth from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Although Silseth has transitioned to a relief role in the minors this season, he could be used out of the Angels' rotation this weekend against the Cubs while Jose Soriano (personal) is on the paternity list. Silseth last saw major-league action in 2024, when he made two starts and posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over eight innings.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Productive in win

Dingler went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Astros.

Dingler isn't known for his speed, as the triple was just his second of the season, and he's never swiped a base at the MLB level. The catcher has still been plenty productive for the Tigers with a .274/.321/.432 slash line across 98 games this year. It's a big step forward for Dingler, who posted a .167/.195/.310 line in 27 regular-season games as a rookie in 2024.

  • Jose Soriano SP | LAA

Angels' Jose Soriano: Placed on paternity list

The Angels placed Soriano on the paternity list Wednesday.

Soriano is tentatively lined up to start against the Cubs this weekend, and he should still be available to pitch since players can spend only 1-to-3 days on the paternity list. The Angels recalled Chase Silseth from Triple-A Salt Lake, who could make a spot start if Soriano is away from the team for longer than expected. Soriano has gone 2-2 in six starts since the All-Star break with a 4.29 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB across 35.2 innings.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Schanuel is not in the Angels' starting lineup against the Reds on Wednesday.

Even with the Reds sending right-hander Nick Martinez to the mound, the lefty-hitting Schanuel will be on the bench for the beginning of Wednesday's game while Niko Kavadas starts at first base and bats eighth. Schanuel has three multi-hit games over his last four starts but has a .611 OPS with one steal, one homer and four RBI in 77 plate appearances since the beginning of August.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Idle Wednesday

O'Hoppe is not in the Angels' starting lineup against the Reds on Wednesday.

O'Hoppe will be on the bench for a second straight game while Travis d'Arnaud starts behind the plate and bats seventh. O'Hoppe has struggled at the plate of late, going 0-for-12 with six strikeouts over his last three games.
