White Sox's Luis Robert: Lands on IL with strained hamstring

The White Sox placed Robert on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a left hamstring strain.

Robert suffered the injury during Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Royals. The severity of the strain hasn't yet been revealed, but even a low-grade strain has the potential to keep Robert shelved longer than the minimum 10 days. Brooks Baldwin and Michael Taylor will likely see the bulk of the playing time in center field while Robert is sidelined.

  • Vimael Machin 3B | BAL

Orioles' Vimael Machin: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

The Orioles designated Machin for assignment Wednesday.

Machin saw a bit of playing time at third base in the Orioles' initial games without Jordan Westburg (ankle), going 1-for-11 with a home run following his promotion from Triple-A Norfolk last Friday. However, Machin didn't make a strong enough impression to earn a long-term stay in Baltimore, and he'll be replaced on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster by infielder Emmanuel Rivera, who was called up from Norfolk.

  • Brandon Young SP | BAL

Orioles' Brandon Young: Hamstring injury ends season

The Orioles transferred Young (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

The move to the 60-day IL spells an official end to Young's season. According to Jake Rill of MLB.com, Young said that he expects to face a six-week recovery from the left hamstring strain, which should allow him to have a normal offseason. In 12 starts with the big club as a rookie, the 27-year-old right-hander went 1-7 and submitted a 6.24 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 47:22 K:BB in 57.2 innings. Young should get the chance to compete for a spot in the Orioles' Opening Day rotation in 2026, but in light of his poor numbers in his first taste of the majors this season, he'll likely need a strong spring to secure a starting role with the big club.

  • Orioles' Yaramil Hiraldo: Sent to Norfolk

The Orioles optioned Hiraldo to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Hiraldo has been sent down one day after he was touched up for three runs in a 1.1-inning relief outing in the Orioles' 5-0 loss to the Red Sox. The righty reliever has collected a 5.65 ERA and 12:6 K:BB over 14.1 frames with the Orioles this season.

  • Orioles' Emmanuel Rivera: Back in big leagues

The Orioles selected Rivera's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Rivera has been up and down multiple times between Norfolk and Baltimore this season, slashing only .229/.299/.271 over 26 games with the big club. He could see a decent amount of playing time at third base while Jordan Westburg (ankle) is on the injured list.

  • James Outman CF | DET

Twins' James Outman: Taking seat for series finale

Outman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Outman was included in the starting nine for the first two contests of the series and went 1-for-7 with a walk, but the left-handed batter will hit the bench for Wednesday's finale while southpaw Eric Lauer toes the rubber for Toronto. Austin Martin will spell Outman in left field.

  • Trevor Larnach LF | MIN

Twins' Trevor Larnach: Exiting starting nine

Larnach is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Toronto.

The left-handed-hitting Larnach doesn't always sit against lefties, but he'll take a seat Wednesday as the Blue Jays send southpaw Eric Lauer to the bump. Edouard Julien -- who also swings left-handed -- will be in the designated-hitter spot and will bat ninth for the Twins.

  • Shane Drohan RP | MIL

Red Sox's Shane Drohan: Pitching for Triple-A club Friday

Drohan (forearm), whom Triple-A Worcester reinstated from its 60-day injured list Tuesday, is slated to start or pitch in bulk relief Friday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Top prospect Payton Tolle is also in line to pitch Friday, and Worcester plans to have him piggyback or get piggybacked by Drohan, who will be making his first appearance for the Triple-A affiliate since May 7 after he had been shut down due to left forearm inflammation. Prior to getting hurt, Drohan was enjoying a strong season out of the Worcester rotation, logging a 2.03 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 38:11 K:BB in 26.2 innings through seven appearances. The 26-year-old lefty could struggle to return to his prior form before season's end after he endured a bumpy three-start rehab assignment at High-A Greenville in which he gave up six earned runs to go with a 10:5 K:BB in 6.1 innings.

  • Victor Robles RF | SEA

Mariners' Victor Robles: Out of lineup again versus righty

Robles is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Padres.

The Mariners faced three lefties in a row upon Robles' return from the injured list Saturday, and the right-handed batter started in right field in all of them. However, Seattle is going up against a second straight righty Wednesday in Yu Darvish, and Robles will begin the game on the bench for the second day in a row. Robles looks to be on the short side of a platoon, and he's also facing a potential 10-game suspension, pending the results of his appeal.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Canzone is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Padres.

After missing more than a week due to a wrist issue, Canzone returned to the lineup for Tuesday's 7-6 loss and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. Though the left-handed-hitting Canzone should be a regular presence in the Seattle lineup against righties now that he's healthy again, he'll take a seat for Wednesday's day game while righty Yu Darvish is on the hill for the Padres. Seattle will turn to Luke Raley in right field.
