  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Rangers' Rowdy Tellez: Goes hitless Sunday

Tellez started at first base and went 0-for-5 in Sunday's 9-6 win over the Athletics.

Tellez has handled regular reps at first base against right-handed pitching in recent weeks, but he's gone just 5-for-27 with a 2:10 BB:K over his last 10 games and could be at risk of losing out on regular starts. According to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, Jake Burger (wrist) could be activated from the injured list as soon as Monday, and the Rangers may consider giving the right-handed-hitting Burger a look as the full-time first baseman rather than deploying him in a platoon with Tellez.

He's gone 11-for-24 (.458) with four extra-base hits, seven RBI and seven runs scored over that stretch. Garcia slashed .288/.313/.500 during August, by far was the outfielder's best month of 2025.

Making his fourth rehab start and second in a row with Columbus, Means tossed 58 pitches (37 strikes). The left-hander is on track to return from the 60-day injured list at some point in September, though Means will likely need one or two more outings in the minors to build up his pitch count before the Guardians consider him for a spot in the rotation. Per Tim Stebbins of MLB.com, Cleveland 's brass has discussed moving to a six-man rotation in September, as the team facing a taxing schedule that includes a stretch of 17 games in 17 days.

  • Taylor Ward LF | BAL

Angels' Taylor Ward: Injury appears relatively minor

Ward suffered a "nasty" cut above his right eye when he collided with the outfield wall Sunday in Houston, but the outfielder is "doing well," Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Blum describes Ward's prognosis as "a best-case scenario," so the outfielder doesn't appear to be facing a long-term absence. However, Ward did need to get stitches to close the cut, which could be enough to sideline him for a few games. If Ward does need to miss any time, Matthew Lugo, Bryce Teodosio or Luis Rengifo could be asked to take over in left field.
