  • Dylan Beavers OF | BAL

Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Taking seat Thursday

Beavers is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox.

The left-handed-hitting Beavers will get a day off as the Red Sox send southpaw ace Garrett Crochet to the bump. Dylan Carlson and Jeremiah Jackson will hold down the corner outfield spots as the Orioles try to avoid being swept in the four-game series.

  • Steven Cruz RP | KC

Royals' Steven Cruz: Completes shortened bullpen session

Cruz (shoulder) threw a light bullpen Wednesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Cruz took a step forward in his rehab for right shoulder tendinitis, throwing a short bullpen session of 15 to 20 pitches. The right-hander had previously been limited to flat-ground work from about 75 feet, so this progression is encouraging. While the Royals haven't provided a firm timeline, a late-season return remains on the table.

  • Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Out of lineup versus Crochet

Basallo is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Red Sox.

The left-handed-hitting Basallo had started each of the previous five tilts, but he will get a breather as the Orioles take on lefty ace Garrett Crochet. Alex Jackson will fill in at catcher and bat ninth for Baltimore.

  • Hunter Harvey RP | CHC

Royals' Hunter Harvey: Throws light bullpen

Harvey (groin) completed a light bullpen session Wednesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Harvey took another step forward in his recovery from the Grade 2 right adductor strain that has sidelined him since Aug. 11. He threw a short bullpen session of about 15 to 20 pitches, and while it wasn't a full workload, simply getting back on the mound is an encouraging sign in the right-hander's quest to return before season's end. Harvey's 2025 season has been marred by injuries, but he's delivered when available by tossing 12 scoreless appearances.

  • Luis Guerrero RP | BOS

Red Sox's Luis Guerrero: Initiates rehab assignment

Guerrero (elbow) began a rehab assignment with High-A Greenville on Tuesday and worked around three walks and one hit in a scoreless inning in his first appearance.

The one-inning outing marked Guerrero's first appearance at any level since June 27, as he's been on the shelf for two months while recovering from a right elbow strain. Guerrero is expected to eventually shift his rehab assignment to Triple-A Worcester, and once he gets a few more minor-league appearances under his belt, he could re-emerge as an option for Boston's bullpen.

  • Aaron Judge RF | NYY

Yankees' Aaron Judge: Launches 41st long ball

Judge went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in an 11-2 win over Washington on Wednesday.

Judge hit the second of six Yankees homers in the rout, belting a 424-foot, two run shot in the third inning. The slugger added a single to finish with his first multi-hit effort over his past eight contests. Judge has struggled a bit in August with a .217/.386/.435 slash line through 20 games, but he's worked an 18:21 BB:K and has four home runs, 10 RBI and 14 runs in that span.

  • Juan Valera SP | BOS

Red Sox's Juan Valera: Returns from IL

High-A Greenville reinstated Valera (elbow) from its 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Valera has yet to return to action for Greenville since being activated, but he's apparently healthy again after he was recently able to face hitters in live batting practice. Before being shelved in late May due to right elbow soreness, Valera turned in a 5.40 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 37:9 K:BB in 33.1 innings over eight starts for Greenville.

  • David Hamilton 3B | MIL

Red Sox's David Hamilton: Sitting out series finale

Hamilton is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Hamilton had started in each of the Red Sox's last three games and went 4-for-10 with a home run, a double and three RBI, but the left-handed-hitting infielder will hit the bench Thursday while southpaw Cade Povich takes the hill for Baltimore. Ceddanne Rafaela will get the nod at second base in the series finale, but Hamilton could continue to see the bulk of the starts at the keystone against right-handed pitching until Wilyer Abreu's (calf) eventual return from the injured list pushes Rafaela to the infield on a more frequent basis.

  • Jarren Duran LF | BOS

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Receiving series finale off

Duran is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

More often than not, the left-handed-hitting Duran is typically included in the lineup when the Red Sox face left-handed starters, but the 28-year-old will retreat to the bench for Thursday's day game while southpaw Cade Povich toes the rubber for Baltimore. With Duran sitting, Jhostynxon Garcia will step in as the Red Sox's starting left fielder and will bat ninth.

  • Jovani Moran RP | BOS

Red Sox's Jovani Moran: Sent back to Triple-A

The Red Sox optioned Moran to Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Moran will head back to Worcester as the Red Sox open up a spot in the bullpen for Justin Slaten (shoulder), who was reinstated from the injured list. After being recalled from Triple-A on Tuesday, Moran didn't make any relief appearances during his two-day stint with the big club.
