  • Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL

Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Could return upon roster expansion

Kim (back) isn't expected to return from the 10-day injured list until at least Monday when team rosters expand to 28 players, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Kim has played just 29 major-league games this season due to multiple injuries, most recently lower-back inflammation that landed him on the 10-day IL on Aug. 21. He's eligible to return from the IL on Sunday, but the Rays will wait to bring back the 29-year-old shortstop until at least Monday. Carson Williams has played well since making his major-league debut Aug. 22, but it's unclear what his role will be once Kim has returned.

  • Noah Cameron SP | KC

Royals' Noah Cameron: Not making weekend start

Cameron isn't listed as a starting pitcher in any game of Kansas City's three-game set against the Tigers that begins Friday, Jackson Stone of MLB.com reports.

Cameron's normal trip through the rotation would have lined him up for a start Saturday, but Stephen Kolek will take the mound instead. Michael Wacha will close out the series Sunday. It's unclear when Cameron's next start will come, but it looks as though the Royals will limit his workload during the closing weeks of the regular season. Cameron has thrown 140.2 innings this season across Triple-A and the Majors, and his previous career high was 122.2 innings, which he set in 2024.

  • Mike Tauchman CF | NYM

White Sox's Mike Tauchman: Out against lefty

Tauchman is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees.

The left-handed-hitting Tauchman doesn't always sit out against southpaws, but he will take a seat for this one as the Yankees send southpaw Carlos Rodon to the bump. Brooks Baldwin is in right field for the White Sox.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Returns to lineup Friday

Montgomery (side) is starting at shortstop and batting fourth in Friday's game versus the Yankees.

Montgomery missed each of the previous two contests with a left side issue that initially popped up last week. It's the type of injury that can be prone to setbacks, but Montgomery feels well enough now to give it a go. He'll bring a streak of four consecutive games with a home run into play Friday.

  • Pablo Lopez SP | MIN

Twins' Pablo Lopez: One more rehab start Sunday

Lopez (shoulder) will make what's expected to be his final rehab start Sunday at Triple-A St. Paul, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Lopez struck out five and allowed three earned runs over four innings in his second rehab outing Tuesday with St. Paul. He threw 68 pitches in that start and will get stretched out a bit more before returning from the 60-day injured list and likely slotting into the Twins rotation during next weekend's series in Kansas City. Lopez has been shelved since early June due to a Grade 2 teres major strain.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Closing in on rehab assignment

Santander (shoulder) will travel with the Blue Jays to Cincinnati early next week and should begin a rehab assignment after that, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Santander has been running, taking batting practice and hitting off a high-velocity pitching machine and is close to being cleared for game action. The switch hitter has been on the shelf with a subluxation of his left shoulder since late May. Santander could return to the Blue Jays' active roster by mid-September if all goes well.

  • Wilyer Abreu RF | BOS

Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Won't return on homestand

Red Sox manager Alex Cora indicated Friday that Abreu (calf) is unlikely to return from the 10-day injured list before the conclusion of a homestand Sept. 3, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Abreu did some light sprints earlier this week and it seems as though it didn't go as well as hoped. He's been receiving treatment on his injured right calf and will try to run again Monday. Roman Anthony has been serving as the club's everyday right fielder since Abreu was injured last week.

  • Royals' Michael Wacha: Still making Sunday start

Wacha (paternity) is still scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Tigers, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.

Despite being placed on the paternity list Friday, Wacha will make his regularly scheduled start Sunday. The 34-year-old has been excellent lately, logging a 4-1 record and a 2.45 ERA across his last eight starts, spanning 47.2 innings. He's struck out just 29 batters during that stretch, though.

  • Royals' Stephen Kolek: Starting Saturday vs. Tigers

Kolek is slated to start Saturday's game against the Tigers in Kansas City, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.

Kolek was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Friday after Michael Wacha (personal) was placed on the paternity list in a corresponding move. Though Wacha is on track to start Sunday's series finale, the Royals will temporarily clear a spot in the rotation for Kolek in order to give rookie Noah Cameron some additional rest between starts. Saturday's outing will mark the Royals debut for Kolek, whom Kansas City acquired from the Padres at the trade deadline. After the trade, Kolek reported to Omaha and logged a 6.63 ERA in 19 innings over five starts before receiving a call-up.

  • Luis Rengifo 3B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Not in Friday's lineup

Rengifo is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Rengifo has a .486 OPS over his past 11 contests and will take a seat Friday after starting the previous two games. Christian Moore will receive another start at the keystone for the Angels.
