Basallo (hand) will start behind the plate Tuesday against the Pirates, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The rookie backstop exited Saturday's contest after taking a foul tip on his right hand and was held out of the lineup Sunday after X-rays came back negative, but he's good to go Tuesday following Baltimore's team off day. Basallo has yet to find his footing at the plate through his first 16 big-league games and has a .204/.283/.389 slash line with two homers and nine RBI.

Westburg (ankle) could begin a rehab assignment this weekend, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Previous updates on Westburg's recovery from a right ankle sprain suggested that he was likely to have begun playing in rehab games by now. While that hasn't happened, it appears to be around the corner. The infielder could be back on the Orioles' active roster sometime next week. He's been sidelined since late August.

Rutschman (oblique) will take batting practice this weekend, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Rutschman began hitting off a tee this past Friday and will take another big step forward with his hitting progression this weekend. It's not clear whether the Orioles will ask him to go out on a rehab assignment, but either way he would seem to have a good shot to be activated from the 10-day injured list at some point next week. Rutschman has been shelved since mid-August with a right oblique strain.

The Rays transferred Van Belle (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

The right-hander landed on the injured list over the weekend due to elbow inflammation and will now be sidelined for the rest of the season. The results of Van Belle's MRI have yet to be disclosed, so it's unclear if he's expected to be available for the start of spring training.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said that Kremer (forearm) played catch Sunday and will do so again Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Kremer was removed from his start in Friday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers after three innings due to right forearm soreness. An MRI came back clean, and while he will miss his next turn in the rotation, the hope remains that Kremer could avoid a stint on the 15-day injured list.

The Rays claimed Boushley off waivers from the Rangers on Tuesday and optioned him to Triple-A Durham.

Boushley has posted a 6.02 ERA in 43.1 innings during his time with the Rangers this season. The 31-year-old has minor-league options remaining will report to Durham for now, but he could join the major-league club later this month.

Arias (wrist) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Royals.

Arias had to depart Monday's contest with right wrist inflammation. While he managed to avoid a serious injury, he will be forced to miss at least one start. Brayan Rocchio will slide over to shortstop and Daniel Schneemann will handle second base for the Guardians on Tuesday.

The Blue Jays recalled Loperfido from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Loperfido is drawing the start in left field and will bat eighth in Tuesday's series opener versus the Astros. He's hit well when given an opportunity with the big club this season, slashing .358/.409/.506 with three home runs in 30 contests. Loperfido could see reps in the outfield against righties while Bo Bichette (knee) is out, if the Blue Jays elect to use Addison Barger at third base regularly.

Kolek is slated to start Thursday's game against the Guardians at Progressive Field.

With Seth Lugo (back) recently joining Cole Ragans (shoulder) on the injured list, Kolek will stick around with the Royals to make a second turn through the rotation following his call-up from Triple-A Omaha last Thursday. During his start in this past Saturday's 11-2 win over the Twins, Kolek went seven strong innings and struck four batters while permitting two earned runs on six hits and one walk. He now maintains a respectable 3.88 ERA over 92.2 innings between San Diego and Kansas City, though it's supported by a weak 9.3 K-BB%.

The Blue Jays placed Bichette on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left knee sprain.

Bichette appeared to tweak something on a slide into home plate during Saturday's game against the Yankees. He finished that contest but was then out of the lineup Sunday, and subsequent testing has revealed a sprain. The severity of the sprain isn't known at this time, so it's uncertain whether Bichette has a chance to return when eligible Sept. 17. Ernie Clement is starting at shortstop Tuesday versus the Astros, but Isiah Kiner-Falefa should also be in the mix for starts at the position while Bichette is shelved.
