  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Explodes for two homers, five RBI

Bazzana went 4-for-4 with two home runs, three total runs and five total RBI in an 8-1 win against the Astros on Saturday. Bazzana didn't take long to set the tone for his big performance, belting the first pitch of the game from Spencer Arrighetti over the outfield wall for a home run. The talented rookie added a three-run blast off Arrighetti in the fifth inning to notch the first multi-homer game of his career. Bazzana also logged four hits for the first time as a big-leaguer and racked up a career-best five RBI. He had been batting just .182 through 15 games in June entering Saturday, but Bazzana has nonetheless had a strong beginning to his major-league career, slashing .274/.369/.476 with seven homers, 11 doubles, 23 RBI, 22 runs and 11 stolen bases through 46 contests.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Helps in win

Bazzana went 1-for-3 with two walks and a solo home run in Thursday's 4-2 win over Milwaukee. He was also caught stealing. Bazzana's solo shot in the seventh gave the Guardians a 3-2 lead and helped prevent a three-game sweep by the Brewers. The home run was his fifth of the season and could spell an end to a slump. The rookie second baseman entered the game having gone 3-for-32 (.094) over the previous eight contests and didn't drive in a run in the previous seven.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Cooling off

Bazzana went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the Yankees. Bazzana's first-inning single snapped an 0-for-17 stretch, which is part of a greater slump for the second baseman -- over the last eight contests, Bazzana is 4-for-31 (.129). He's managed to steal a couple of bases during the skid and is up 10 (on 12 attempts) across 39 games.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Bats cleanup Thursday

Bazzana was dropped from leadoff to cleanup Thursday and went 0-for-4 in a 2-1 loss to the Yankees. Bazzana has thrived since being moved to leadoff, so it was strange to see him batting fourth. Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reported that the unique lineup configuration was an attempt to maximize the Guardians' offense against left-hander Carlos Rodon. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt trotted out three right-handed batters to open the game, followed by the lefty-hitting Bazzana.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Swipes bag in win

Bazzana went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 4-3 win over Boston. Bazzana is thriving as the Guardians' current leadoff batter. He's hit in all six games (9-for-23) since being deployed at the top of the order, and the rookie stole his eighth base (caught twice) in 28 games.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Runs hit streak to five games

Bazzana went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Nationals. Bazzana's multi-hit effort extended a hit streak to five games, during which the rookie has gone 8-for-19 with a home run, five doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. All of that production came as the Guardians' leadoff batter, a role that opened up because of Steven Kwan's season-opening slump.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Adjusting to MLB pitching

Bazzana went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Tigers. The rookie second baseman hooked a Keider Montero changeup over the wall in the right-field corner in the fourth inning, one of only four hits the Guardians managed on the night. The homer was Bazzana's second in his first 19 big-league games, and his top-of-the-order skill set has been on full display, as he's slashing .299/.427/.403 with seven steals, nine RBI, 10 runs and a 13:13 BB:K. He's working on a six-game hit streak.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Smacks first homer

Bazzana went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, an additional run scored and two stolen bases during Friday's 6-4 win over the Twins. The first home run of Bazzana's young MLB career came in the first inning of Friday's contest and drove in Jose Ramirez to cap off a four-run outburst from the Guardians' offense. Although it took him only nine games to get his first big-league blast out of the way, Bazzana shouldn't be looked at as a big power threat. His value lies primarily in his ability to get on base and steal bases, as evidenced by his .368 OBP and six steals since his promotion.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Receiving first night off

Bazzana is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals. With a tough southpaw (Cole Ragans) on the hill for the opposition, the Guardians will give the left-handed-hitting Bazzana his first night off since he was promoted from Triple-A Columbus on April 28. Through his first seven big-league games, Bazzana has gone 4-for-23 with two stolen bases, four runs, two RBI and a 6:4 BB:K.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Summoned for MLB debut

The Guardians selected Bazzana's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday. News broke Monday night about Bazzana's impending promotion, and the transaction is now official. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Bazzana has earned a promotion after slashing .287/.422/.511 with two home runs, 10 RBI, eight stolen bases and 18 runs scored over his first 24 contests with Columbus. Bazzana will take over as the Guardians' primary second baseman.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Ready for MLB debut

The Guardians plan to promote Bazzana from Triple-A Columbus ahead of Tuesday's game against the Rays, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Bazzana slashed .287/.422/.511 with two home runs, 10 RBI, eight stolen bases and 18 runs scored over his first 24 appearances this season with Triple-A Columbus, and the club has determined that the time has come for the 23-year-old's first taste of MLB action. Passan notes that Bazzana is in line to immediately take over at second base, which will pry opportunities away from Juan Brito and Daniel Schneemann at the keystone.

  • Guardians' Juan Brito: Snaps slide

Brito went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Orioles. Brito contributed a two-run double to the Guardians' four-run fourth inning. The hit snapped an 0-for-13 slide and his first extra-base hit and RBI since April 8. He's getting regular playing time while Gabriel Arias (hamstring) in on the injured list, but a slash line of .184/.244/263 leaves Brito vulnerable. Daniel Schneemann (.890 OPS) lurks on the 26-man roster, and elite prospect Travis Bazzana is heating up -- .414/.485/.759 in last seven games -- at Triple-A Columbus after a slow start. Brito's also made three errors since arriving in Cleveland, which could prompt a move to replace him.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Belts two homers

Bazzana went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI in Saturday's spring game against the Giants. Bazzana, who was reassigned to minor-league camp earlier in the week, joined the major-league team for Saturday's contest. In eight Cactus League games, the first overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft is batting .381 (8-for-21) with three home runs and 11 RBI. He also homered for Team Australia in the World Baseball Classic. Given that injuries limited Bazzana to 84 games in 2025, including just 26 at Triple-A, it's natural the organization wants him to get more seasoning in the minors. He's expected to arrive in the majors at some point in 2026.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Contributes to WBC win

Bazzana went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Australia's 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei in Wednesday's World Baseball Classic opener. Bazzana gave the Aussies breathing room with his blast in the seventh inning. He left the Guardians spring training camp a week ago to join Team Australia in Japan. Prior to the WBC, Bazzana and appeared in three games for Cleveland, going 2-for-8 with a home run and three RBI. He's likely to open the regular season in the minors, but the 2024 first overall draft pick could elevate to the majors in 2026.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Logs first spring hit

Bazzana started at second base and went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's spring game against the Dodgers. Bazzana accounted for all the Guardians' offense with a three-run shot in the second inning. It was his first Cactus League hit, which he sent 423 feet to center field. Cleveland's top pick in the 2024 draft has made three spring appearances thus far and will continue to pile up at-bats over the next week in advance of his participation in the World Baseball Classic for Team Australia.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Season comes to early end

Triple-A Columbus placed Bazzana on its 7-day injured list Sunday due to left flank soreness. Bazzana suffered the injury Thursday and will miss the final week of the Triple-A season, but because the Guardians are labeling the issue as a sore flank, the 23-year-old shouldn't require as much recovery time as he needed for the internal right oblique strain that kept him out for nearly two months earlier in 2025. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft had a rough introduction to the Triple-A level upon his promotion from Double-A Akron on Aug. 11, but he had settled in nicely in September, slashing .290/.421/.742 with four home runs over his final nine games with Columbus.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Wallops first Triple-A homer

Bazzana went 3-for-4 with a walk, a home run, two RBI and an additional run scored for Triple-A Columbus on Thursday. Twenty games into his stay at the highest level of the minors, Bazzana launched his first home run for the Clippers in style, as his two-run shot was a walk-off job. The first overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft has endured some struggles in his first go-around at Triple-A and entered the night batting just .182 over 19 games for Columbus. However, Bazzana has exhibited a keen eye, posting a .415 on-base percentage.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Officially activated

Bazzana (oblique) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Double-A Akron on Friday. Bazzana has been on the shelf since mid-May with a strained right oblique, but he's been officially cleared to return to action with Akron. The first overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft appeared in 33 Double-A games before the injury, slashing .252/.362/.433 with four homers and eight stolen bases.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Returning to Double-A action Friday

Double-A Akron is expected to reinstate Bazzana (oblique) from the 7-day injured list Friday, SI.com reports. Bazzana has been out of action with Akron since mid-May due to a right oblique strain, but he was cleared to resume a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on July 5. Through the first seven contests of his rehab assignment, Bazzana has gone 4-for-18 with two doubles, eight walks, seven runs, two RBI and one stolen base. The 22-year-old infielder posted a .795 OPS to go with four home runs and eight steals in 33 games for Akron before landing on the IL.

  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Begins rehab assignment

Bazzana (oblique) started at second base and went 0-for-2 for the Guardians' Arizona Complex League affiliate Saturday. Bazzana began his rehab assignment after suffering an oblique injury in mid-May. He played just four innings in the field, and Cleveland has little incentive to rush the recovery of the first overall draft pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft. Prior to the injury, the 22-year-old Bazzana posted a .252/.362/.433 slash line with four home runs, 17 RBI, eight steals and 29 runs across 33 games for Double-A Akron.
