  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Collects four hits

Henderson went 4-for-5 with three runs scored in Friday's win over the Rangers.

Henderson smacked four singles and has just one extra-base knock over his last seven appearances. The 23-year-old turned in his first multi-hit effort since July 7 and is now 18-for-56 (.321) this month. On the year, Henderson's slash line is up .293/.378/.586 with 81 runs scored through 96 contests.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Strains hamstring during debut

Wilson exited Friday's game against the Angels in the fourth inning due to a left hamstring strain, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. He recorded a base hit in his lone at-bat and scored a run before departing.

Wilson's MLB debut was cut short after he suffered the injury while rounding third base in the third inning. He was pulled from the contest after testing out his hamstring in the field ahead of the top of the fourth. The Athletics could send Wilson in for further evaluation before deciding whether to place him on the injured list, in which case Max Schuemann would likely settle back in as Oakland's everyday shortstop.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Exits Friday's game early

Wilson was removed from Friday's game against the Angels with an apparent injury, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Wilson hit a single during his first career MLB at-bat in the third inning, but he came up limping after coming around to score and was replaced on defense once the A's took the field. The nature of Wilson's injury remains unknown, but Oakland will provide more information once its training staff takes a closer look at him.

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Collects three RBI in win

Volpe went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Friday's 6-1 win versus Tampa Bay.

The New York shortstop cracked a bases-clearing double in the third inning to extend the Yankees' lead to 4-0. This performance marks Volpe's third three-RBI game of the season. Perhaps this game's success will spur the 23-year-old on to a better second half, as he entered the evening hitting a miserable .143 (12-for-84) with eight runs scored and five RBI over his previous 20 games.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Suffers calf strain

Bichette left Friday's game against the Tigers due to a right calf strain.

Bichette wasn't able to put any weight on his right leg after lining out to right field in the sixth inning, and he's now officially been diagnosed with a strained right calf -- the same injury that caused him to miss the last four games before the All-Star break. The Blue Jays didn't place him on the IL after his initial strain, but there's a good chance he spends some time on the injured list this time around in order to properly address the issue. Leo Jimenez will presumably take over as Toronto's starting shortstop while Bichette recovers.

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Removed with apparent injury

Bichette was removed from Friday's game versus Detroit with an apparent leg injury, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Bichette was hopping to first base as he lined out to right field during the sixth inning, and he was reluctant to put any weight on his right leg. The 26-year-old shortstop missed the final four games of the first half due to a strained right calf, and the Blue Jays' trainers will take a look at him to determine if his latest injury is related.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Could return for playoffs

Story (shoulder) told reporters Friday that there is a chance he'll return for the playoffs should the Red Sox make the postseason, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

After playing just eight games at the beginning of the year, Story underwent arthroscopic surgery for a dislocated left shoulder and was transferred to the 60-day injured list April 18. The procedure was thought to be season-ending at the time, but Story relayed that his doctor said there's a chance that the veteran shortstop will play again this year, per Alex Speier of The Boston Globe. Regardless of when he returns, Story may not see regular playing time, given that Ceddanne Rafaela has stepped into the Red Sox's starting shortstop job. Story has played just 145 regular-season games since joining Boston in 2022 due to various injuries.

  • Mookie Betts RF | LAD

Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Plays catch Friday

Betts (hand) played catch Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Betts previously had someone else catch the ball for him while he continued to keep his arm active, but Friday marked the first time he was able to catch balls himself using his fractured left hand. The Dodgers have yet to set a target return date for the 31-year-old, though there's still a chance he's able to rejoin the team in early August. When Betts does rejoin the lineup, he may be used as a second baseman given Miguel Rojas' strong performance while filling in as his replacement at shortstop.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Starting to play defense

Holliday (elbow) will begin playing partial games at second base for Triple-A Norfolk as part of his rehab progression, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports Friday.

Holliday has exclusively played DH since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list June 25 after experiencing right elbow inflammation earlier that month, so this is a good sign he's nearly 100 percent healthy. The Orioles' top prospect, Holliday has a .898 OPS at Norfolk through 312 plate appearances.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Making major-league debut Friday

Wilson is starting at shortstop and batting eighth in Friday's series opener against the Angels.

Wilson has risen quickly through the Athletics' farm system since being selected sixth overall in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft. Following his promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas on May 8, Wilson has slashed .398/.444/.639 with four home runs, 12 RBI and a 1.083 OPS across 90 plate appearances. He'll take over the starting job at shortstop, and if Wilson is able to adapt as well to the big leagues as he has in the minors, he should move up in the A's batting order during the second half of the season.
