Smith (knee) is starting Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Smith sat out Tuesday's matchup due to a bruised knee, but he'll start at the hot corner and bat eighth Wednesday. He went 1-for-11 with a double and two strikeouts over the his last three games.

Strange-Gordon will start in center field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Alcides Escobar's (hamstring) move to the 10-day injured list Wednesday clears a path to playing time at shortstop, but Triple-A Rochester call-up Luis Garcia is expected to get the first crack at the everyday role ahead of Strange-Gordon, who had started to encroach on Escobar's playing time over the past two weeks. Strange-Gordon's ability to play the outfield and at second base will offer him a few more avenues to getting at-bats, and he'll draw his second consecutive start Wednesday after manning left field in Tuesday's 10-0 loss. Strange-Gordon went 3-for-4 with a stolen base Tuesday, marking the third consecutive start in which he's collected a steal.

Perdomo isn't starting Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Perdomo is riding an 11-game on-base streak in which he's slashed .250/.302/.350 with a triple, two doubles, two runs and an RBI. Jake Hager will take over at shortstop and bat eighth Wednesday.

Edman isn't starting Wednesday against San Diego, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Edman will get a day off after he went 4-for-19 with four runs, an RBI, two stolen bases and five strikeouts over the last four games. Edmundo Sosa is starting at shortstop and batting seventh.

Smith started at third base and went 0-for-1, was twice hit by a pitch and stole a base in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Tampa Bay.

Smith has made consecutive starts at the hot corner, one against either handedness of pitcher, since the Rangers selected his contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. Texas third basemen rank last in MLB with a .544 OPS, so there's an opportunity for Smith to move ahead of Andy Ibanez and Charlie Culberson.

Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Rays.

Both Seager and Adolis Garcia bopped homers in the fourth inning to account for all of the Rangers' scoring. The shortstop is up to 11 homers after hitting three over the last four games.

Turner went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Pirates.

Turner's third-inning homer was the Dodgers' only extra-base hit of the contest. The shortstop has been locked in at the plate with a 23-game hitting streak -- he's gone 32-for-91 (.352) in that span. The three-week surge has him up to a .298/.357/.461 slash line with six homers, 41 RBI, 23 runs scored, 10 stolen bases, 12 doubles and two triples in 49 contests overall.

Marcano went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Dodgers.

Marcano has somewhat surprisingly homered in back-to-back games, with his second-inning blast Tuesday giving the Pirates all the offense they needed to win. The 22-year-old has hit safely in five of his six games this season. He's posted two homers, five RBI, five runs scored and a double across 20 plate appearances. Marcano is likely to see a utility role while in the majors.

Edman went 0-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in a 3-2 win Tuesday over San Diego.

Edman began the bottom of the 10th inning as the automatic runner on second base and swiped third. He came around to score the winning run on Albert Pujols' sacrifice fly. After a strong April, he compiled a .259/.323/.371 batting line and seven stolen bases in the month of May, very similar to his .259/.310/.382 combined line from 2020 and 2021.

Franco (quadriceps), who was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier Tuesday, said he hopes to rejoin the active roster in about two weeks, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Franco also indicated his absence could be longer as his rehab process goes day-by-day, but at this point there's hope he won't be sidelined much beyond the 10-day minimum. Taylor Walls should work as Tampa Bay's primary shortstop in the meantime, with Vidal Brujan and Isaac Paredes likely to see more time between second and third base.
