Anderson (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list after Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader at Kansas City and is scheduled to undergo surgery Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The 29-year-old sat out the matinee while serving the second and final game of his suspension, but he was diagnosed with a sagittal band tear on the middle finger of his left hand and is expected to miss the next six weeks while recovering from the procedure. Anderson sustained the injury during Saturday's game against the Rangers on a check swing, and the tear is causing a dislocation of the exterior tendon of his finger. Leury Garcia and prospect Lenyn Sosa, who was promoted from Triple-A Charlotte over the weekend, are the primary options to fill in at shortstop for the White Sox.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Story (wrist) has resumed swinging a bat, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

The team isn't yet providing a timeline for Story's return from the 10-day injured list, but his ability to start swinging again is the first sign of progress for the second baseman since he was diagnosed in late July with a hairline fracture of his right wrist. Until Story returns from the wrist injury, Christian Arroyo will serve as the Red Sox's primary option at the keystone.

Lopez was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Lopez will head back to Triple-A after being recalled Saturday, failing to draw an at-bat before being sent down. The move was made to clear a roster spot for Jackie Bradley, who was signed Tuesday.

Duran is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Astros, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Duran will get a breather after he went 4-for-11 with a homer, a double, two RBI and two runs during the team's three-game series against the White Sox. Brad Miller will take over at designated hitter and bat ninth in the series opener.

Leury Garcia is making his second straight start at shortstop in Game 1 on Tuesday and could serve as the primary replacement at the position in Anderson's absence, while top prospect Lenyn Sosa was also called up from Triple-A Charlotte over the weekend and is another possible fill-in option.

Lindor went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's 5-1 win over the Reds.

The shortstop extended his run-scoring streak to 11 games with the performance while swiping his 11th bag of the year. Despite failing to get a hit in this one, overall Lindor's been raking since the All-Star break, slashing .381/.459/.603 over his last 17 games with five doubles, three homers, 11 RBI and 16 runs.

Barrero went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Mets.

The 24-year-old shortstop pilfered his first bag of the year in the majors after going 5-for-7 on steal attempts through 55 games for Triple-A Louisville. Barrero has gone 4-for-18 in five games since his promotion while striking out nine times, but the Reds have nothing to lose by giving him consistent playing time down the stretch and seeing if he can make the necessary adjustments.

Perdomo went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Monday's 3-0 win over the Pirates.

Perdomo swiped second base and scored the go-ahead run after reaching base on an error in the sixth inning. He has two steals over the last three games, giving him five on the year. His slash line still sits at a pedestrian .201/.295/.280 with 41 runs scored through 98 appearances.

Velazquez isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Oakland, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Velazquez has seen his playing time fluctuate over the last few days, as he's had just eight at-bats over his club's last five contests. David Fletcher draws the start at shortstop Monday with Phil Gosselin set to handle the hot corner and Luis Rengifo penciled in at second base.

DeJong went 2-for-3 with one double, one homer, four RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Yankees.

After hitting just .182 in his first seven games back from Triple-A, DeJong showed up in big fashion Sunday. With a home run, a double, and seven combined runs and RBI, DeJong finally showed a glimpse of the 2019 self who mashed 30 home runs. The shortstop slugged .552 in Triple-A over 51 games this season, so it is possible he has regained his form and could provide decent power for the Cardinals down the stretch.
