Sardinas was claimed off waivers by the Orioles on Wednesday.

After failing to beat out Erick Aybar for the starting shortstop role during spring training, Sardinas languished while seeing irregular duties off the bench, slashing .163/.226/.163 in 53 plate appearances before the Padres elected to drop him from the 40-man roster. The Orioles evidently still believe there's still some untapped potential in the 24-year-old, who at the very least, should give the team some extra depth at multiple spots around the diamond. He could replace Paul Janish as the club's utility infielder.

Lindor went 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Reds.

With the first-inning long ball against Amir Garrett, Lindor reached double-digit home runs for the season and extended his hitting streak to nine games. Lindor's average is still a bit lower than many expected (.274) and he's not running much at all, but his power output and tallies in the counting stats have kept him among the fantasy elite at the shortstop position.

Pennington started at third and batted ninth against the Rays on Tuesday, going 1-for-3 with a walk in a 4-0 victory.

With the surprising news of C.J. Cron's demotion to the minors Monday, playing time opened up on the infield for Pennington. The veteran could earn a few extra starts at the hot corner until Yunel Escobar (hamstring) returns from the disabled list. The 32-year-old currently owns a slugging percentage that is equal to his batting average (.271), so a temporary boost in playing time is unlikely to make waves in fantasy circles.

Correa is sitting out of Tuesday's contest with the Tigers due to an illness, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Manager A.J. Hinch noted that Correa still may be available to play later in the game, so it doesn't seem like this issue is too severe. Consider the stud shortstop day-to-day for the time being. Marwin Gonzalez will take over at shortstop in his stead.

Correa is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Tigers.

Correa has just three hits in his past 20 at-bats, so he'll get a night off Tuesday to right the ship. Marwin Gonzalez will move into the lineup to replace him at shortstop.

Anderson went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-1 victory over the Mariners.

Anderson had a rough month of April by hitting .204, but he's certainly heating up in the month of May, and three of his five long balls have come in the season's second month. Those who stayed patient with the 23-year-old have to be excited that he's starting to turn things around, and he's been much more successful with less pressure hitting in the bottom third of Chicago's batting order.

Mondesi was sent back to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.

Mondesi was brought up to the big club for a lone contest against the Twins as part of a Sunday doubleheader, in which he went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts. The second baseman had spent the previous month in the minors, where he's fared significantly better (.324 average in 74 at-bats) than his time with Kansas City this season (.103 average in 39 at-bats), so clearly the team feels he needs to get additional reps in on the farm.

Mondesi was recalled from Triple-A Omaha prior to Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.

After winning the starting second base gig out of spring training, Mondesi was banished to the minors in late April after getting off to a 4-for-39 (.103 average) start to the season. The 21-year-old was able to get back on track in Omaha with a .324/.383/.554 slash line over 83 plate appearances and could eventually receive another full-time look at the keystone now that he's back with the big club. Before that happens, however, Mondesi will have to prove that he's a superior option to Whit Merrifield, who has been marginally better than Mondesi was since taking over as the Royals' primary second baseman.

Anderson returned to the leadoff spot Friday and went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in the White Sox's 2-1 win over the Mariners.

With Leury Garica, Chicago's latest leadoff hitter, out of the starting lineup due to an elbow bruise, manager Rick Renteria couldn't resist moving a hot-hitting Anderson back to the top of the order. Anderson entered Friday's game riding a seven-game hitting streak, all of which came with him batting in the bottom third of the order, mostly in the seven-hole. It was the first prolonged stretch of success for the 23-year-old shortstop this season, and we're a bit flummoxed why Renteria would mess with that. At any rate, Garcia entered Friday's game as a pinch runner and played an inning in center field, so perhaps the batting order will be restored Saturday.

Correa went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 5-3 loss to Cleveland.

Correa has knocked in at least one run in eight of his last nine games, plating 12 men during that span while scoring 11 runs himself. The 22-year-old shortstop has a 1.156 OPS in 16 games this month and, with six homers in 38 games, is on pace to reach a third consecutive 20-homer season.
