Correa (thumb) took batting practice off a pitching machine Sunday, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports. "He looked great. He felt great," manager A.J. Hinch said afterwards.

Correa continues to make progress in his return from a torn ligament in his thumb. The Astros will wait and see how he feels Monday following the increased activity, but assuming everything checks out, he's expected to take batting practice on the field prior to Tuesday's series opener against the Nationals. The star shortstop is inching closer to a minor-league rehab assignment.

Anderson went 3-for-4 in Friday's 4-3 win over the Rangers.

Anderson's three-hit night was his first since May 21, when his batting average reached a season-high .264. It's been a big struggle since then for the 23-year-old shortstop, but he's showed signs of a rebound in August. He's hit safely in 14 of the last 15 games, slashing .328/.348/.688/1.036 with five home runs, four doubles, two triples, 12 RBI and 10 runs scored over that stretch. Despite the productive run, Anderson remains very much a work in progress. He strikes out way too much and doesn't get on base enough, so plate discipline and pitch recognition should be the main areas of focus over the final six weeks of the season and into the offseason.

Correa, Houston's All-Star shortstop, continues to increase his volume of hitting in the batting cages as he preps himself for an eventual rehabilitation assignment.

Adames drove in a career-high five runs in Triple-A Durham's win over Wilkes-Barre on Friday, Alex Kraft of MiLB.com reports.

There were already whispers of a possible September promotion for the promising prospect, and Friday's effort certainly did nothing to dissuade that notion. Adames drew a first-inning walk before roping a two-run single in the fourth, another RBI single in the fifth and a run-scoring two-bagger in the seventh. His fifth and final RBI came on a ninth-inning sacrifice fly, allowing him to eclipse the four-RBI tally he'd managed on two previous occasions in his minor-league career. Adames has now compiled six hits over his last two contests, raising his season line to a solid .273/.366/.417.

Mondesi's status with the Royals remains the same -- strictly a September callup who's expected to be the future shortstop -- despite his dominance at Triple-A Omaha, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

The 21-year-old was an exciting fantasy pick when he earned the Royals' starting second base job to open the year. However, only 15 games into the season, Mondesi was demoted after hitting .095 in 42 at-bats. His .311/.350/.554 slash line in the minors brought about speculation that he would make a major-league contribution down the stretch, but apparently management does not see it that way.

Tejada cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Tejada hasn't seen much big-league action in recent weeks following the acquisition of Tim Beckham at the trade deadline. The 27-year-old made his last start in July, and was clearly the odd man out in the infield once the dust settled. Throughout the course of the 2017 season, Tejada is hitting .230/.293/.283 with five RBI and 17 runs scored in 41 games.

Bogaerts went 1-for-4 with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning in Boston's 5-4 walk-off win over St. Louis.

The homer was a long time coming for Bogaerts, who last went yard July 5, the day before he was plunked on the hand. The hand injury lingered and played a role in an extended slump that saw Bogaerts hit just .181 with two RBI over 27 games. It appears he's overcome that injury of late. He collected three hits, including a couple of squared-up balls, Tuesday night before taking Trevor Rosenthal over the Green Monster seats Wednesday. He's had extremely productive stretches during his career and could be set to embark on another as we close out the final six weeks of the season.

Adames, 21, is batting .316 with one home run, three RBI and one steal over his last 10 games for Triple-A Durham.

On the year, Adames is slashing .267/.360/.406 with eight home runs, 47 RBI and nine stolen bases. The Rays are notoriously conservative with their prospects, but as they sit just 1.5 games out of the last Wild Card spot, they could choose to bring up Adames to boost their middle infield depth down the stretch.

Mateo went 2-for-4 with two walks, three stolen bases and an RBI for Double-A Midland on Tuesday.

The shortstop, who was one of three prospects the Athletics received in the July 31 trade that sent Sonny Gray to the Yankees, capped off his night with a walkoff single in the 11th inning. Mateo's wheels have been on full display across stints with three minor-league clubs this season, with the 22-year-old racking up a combined 48 steals while getting caught just 10 times. He'll likely remain in the Texas League for the remainder of the campaign before potentially angling for a promotion to the big club in 2018.

Pennington got the nod at the keystone against a left-handed pitcher Tuesday, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to Washington.

The veteran infielder has started six of the Angels' last 12 contests, but all six have come against southpaws. A strict platoon has developed at second base between Pennington and Kaleb Cowart, but the latter plays more and thus is the more desirable fantasy asset.
