  • Richard Urena SS | WAS

Blue Jays' Richard Urena: Out of lineup Saturday

Urena is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Urena has fallen off after a strong start to the month, going just 1-for-21 over his last seven games, so he'll head to the bench for a second straight contest. In his place, Ryan Goins and Darwin Barney will hold down the middle of the infield for Toronto.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Astros' Carlos Correa: Out of Friday's lineup

Correa is out of the lineup Friday against the Angels.

Houston's star shortstop hasn't been himself at the plate lately. Over the last three games he's gone 0-for-10. He'll get his first day off since returning from the DL on Sept. 3 as Marwin Gonzalez moves in from the outfield to fill in for Correa.

Blue Jays' Richard Urena: Headed to bench Friday

Urena is out of the lineup Friday against the Yankees.

Urena's recent performance at the plate has been dismal. Over the last seven games he's gone 1-for-20 (.050) and struck out 10 times across 21 plate appearances. With Urena out, the Blue Jays will start Ryan Goins at shortstop and deploy Darwin Barney at second.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Career-best 12-game hitting streak

Anderson went 1-for-4 with a home run and a strikeout in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Astros.

He extended his hitting streak to a career-high 12 games, as he continues his torrid close to the season. Anderson was hitting .232/.254/.347 on Aug. 1, and now he is slashing .263/.280/.417 with 17 home runs and 14 steals (on 15 attempts). His impressive tools have never been up for debate, but his approach still leaves a lot to be desired. Considering the way he is closing out his season, Anderson should enter 2018 as a strong power/speed target later in drafts.

  • Indians' Francisco Lindor: Sets MLB record with 31st homer Wednesday

Lindor went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Angels.

His seventh-inning shot off Yusmeiro Petit gave Lindor 31 homers on the season, setting a new big-league record for a switch-hitting shortstop. The 23-year-old has been a big part of Cleveland's amazing hot streak to close out the year, and he now sports a .325/.416/.688 slash line with six home runs, three steals, 17 runs and 17 RBI in 19 September games.

  • Richard Urena SS | WAS

Blue Jays' Richard Urena: Not starting Wednesday

Urena is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Royals, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

With Urena sitting out for the second straight day, Ryan Goins will cover shortstop while Darwin Barney draws the start at second base. Urena has played in 14 games for Toronto this season, over which he's hit just .222 with a .621 OPS.

Blue Jays' Richard Urena: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Urena is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

Urena hit .316 through his first 10 games with the Blue Jays and started the last 12 games, but he went 0-for-16 over his last four games, so manager John Gibbons decided it was time for a day off. With Urena out, Ryan Goins will slide over to shortstop, and Darwin Barney will get the start at the keystone.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Athletics' Joey Wendle: Smacks grand slam in win

Wendle went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Phillies.

The 27-year-old's 381-foot shot to right with the bases jammed in the sixth erased a 3-2 deficit and ended up being the difference in the contest. Wendle had only seen five at-bats with the big-league club coming into Sunday's contest, and his timely round tripper was only the second of his brief major-league career. He figures to continue logging occasional starts for the balance of the regular season.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Breaks up no-no

Anderson's ninth-inning double broke up Matthew Boyd's no-hit bid in Sunday's 12-0 loss to the Tigers.

Boyd snapped several hitting streaks by White Sox players, with only Anderson able to extend his to nine games. The 23-year-old shortstop is hitting .465 with five extra-base hits, five RBI and six steals over the course of his streak.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Astros' Carlos Correa: Goes deep Sunday

Correa went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer Sunday against the Mariners.

All of Houston's runs in this 7-1 win came on the team's four homers, with Correa's seventh-inning blast providing the final margin. Despite suiting up for only 98 games because of a thumb injury, the 2012 first overall pick has 21 long balls, 71 runs scored and 71 RBI. The soon-to-be 23-year-old shortstop projects to be among the best offensive options at his position for the next decade despite playing his home games at the pitcher-friendly Minute Maid Park.
