  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Collects three hits in win

Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-1 win over Minnesota.

Bogaerts may be emerging from a mini-slump that saw him go 2-for-18 over a five-game stretch. In two weekend games, the shortstop went 4-for-8 with a home run, double, three RBI and three runs scored.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Sitting on Marathon Monday

Story is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The Red Sox will kick off their first game of the week and final game of their series with Minnesota at 11:10 a.m. ET, so Story's absence from the lineup merely looks to be the result of the quick turnaround. The 29-year-old also recently overcame a bout with a non-COVID-19-related illness and made starts in four of the past five days, going a collective 5-for-16 at the plate. Christian Arroyo will step in for Story at second base.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Racks up three hits

Mateo went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Yankees.

All three of Mateo's hits were singles, including one in the eighth inning that plated Kelvin Gutierrez. Mateo hasn't been afraid to show off his speed in 2022, recording three stolen bases in his first nine games. He's played primarily at shortstop, posting a .267/.353/.300 slash line with three RBI and three runs scored through 35 plate appearances.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Receives first day off

Pena is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Pena is slashing .345/.375/.621 while starting the first eight games of the season and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale. Aledmys Diaz will take over at shortstop for Houston.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Day off Sunday

Seager is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Seager started the first eight games of the season but will receive his first day off for the series finale versus the Halos. Marcus Semien will shift over to shortstop while Charlie Culberson starts at the keystone Sunday.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Set for breather Sunday

Pena will not be in Sunday's lineup against the Mariners, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

This is a planned day off for Pena, as manager Dusty Baker has rotated rest days for all regulars in the lineup early this season. Pena had another strong night at the dish Saturday, collecting three hits and a triple with two runs scored an RBI. He's now hitting .345 on the season across 32 plate appearances. Aledmys Diaz will get the start at shortstop Sunday in Pena's absence, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Socks first homer of 2022

Bogaerts went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Twins.

His third-inning shot off Josh Winder capped the scoring on the day. Bogaerts has had a sluggish start to the season, with Saturday's blast being his first homer to go along with a .222/.276/.370 slash line, but the shortstop's track record indicates he will pick up the pace soon enough.

  • David Fletcher 2B | ATL

Angels' David Fletcher: No timetable for return

Fletcher (hip) isn't traveling with the Angels on their current road trip and does not currently have a timetable for a return, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

According to head athletic trainer Mike Frostad, Fletcher has remained in Anaheim to receive treatment on the left hip that first began to bother him near the end of spring training. The infielder was placed on the injured list April 12 and is eligible to return April 22, but it's unclear if he'll be healthy enough to play by that date. Fletcher went 1-for-13 over five games prior to the trip to the IL.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Placed on 10-day IL

Baez (thumb) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to April 13.

Baez had already been ruled out for the Tigers' final two matchups against Kansas City, and the team will ultimately elect to place him on the injured list since he hasn't made enough progress since aggravating his thumb injury. Since the move was backdated to Wednesday, the 29-year-old will be eligible to return as early as next weekend, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to do so. Harold Castro has filled in at shortstop recently and should continue to see additional playing time during Baez's IL stint.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Won't start in series finale

Baez (thumb) won't start in Sunday's series finale against the Royals, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Baez was already out of the lineup for Saturday's matchup against Kansas City, and he'll be forced to miss a fifth straight game Sunday. The Tigers have a scheduled off day Monday, and the team is strongly considering an IL stint for Baez if he isn't feeling better by then. Harold Castro should continue to fill in at shortstop while Baez is out.
