  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Fans nine in six excellent frames

Gordon (6-6) recorded the win Friday against the Padres, allowing one run on two hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out nine.

The 27-year-old left-hander tied a season high in strikeouts, tossing at least six frames for the seventh time out of 13 outings this year as well. Since seeing his ERA balloon to 8.37 following a disastrous Aug. 10 start in Arizona, when he was obliterated for 10 earned runs, Gordon has managed to throw six innings while yielding two runs or fewer in four of his last six appearances to enhance his ERA to 6.14 for the season. He'll carry a 1.50WHIP and 55:16 K:BB over 66 frames into a scheduled start versus Miami his next time out.

  • J.T. Ginn P | ATH

Athletics' J.T. Ginn: Departs due to injury

Ginn was removed from his start Friday against the Reds with a right calf cramp, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Ginn made it through 4.1 shutout innings before his calf cramped up on him, forcing him to make an early exit. The A's will likely keep an eye on the 26-year-old's calf over the next several days, but he doesn't currently seem to be at risk of missing his next start -- tentatively scheduled to come Thursday in Boston.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Drawing start Saturday

The Rockies will recall Blalock from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Saturday's game against the Padres in San Diego, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Blalock owns an unsightly 8.62 ERA and 1.79 WHIP through 47 innings with the Rockies this season and hasn't been much better in Triple-A, accumulating a 9.37 ERA in 16.1 frames since being optioned to Albuquerque in mid-August. Despite his poor numbers, he'll come up from the minors to fill the opening in Colorado's rotation left by Chase Dollander's (knee) impending move to the injured list. Blalock will be welcomed back to the big leagues by a Padres squad who torched him for 12 runs in just 3.2 innings back on May 10.

  • Trevor Rogers SP | BAL

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Pulled with toe injury

Rogers was removed from Friday's game against the Blue Jays with left toe discomfort, Brendan Mortensen of MASNSports.com reports.

Rogers made it through five innings Friday, allowing one unearned run on three hits and four walks while striking out six batters, before his toe issue cut his start short. It's currently unknown whether the 27-year-old southpaw will be able to make his next start, but the Orioles may offer an update on his status in the near future.

  • Roki Sasaki P | LAD

Dodgers' Roki Sasaki: Battling calf injury

Sasaki (shoulder) suffered a calf injury during his latest rehab start at Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Sasaki has been working his way back from a right shoulder impingement since mid-May and was cleared to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A on Aug. 14. The 23-year-old had been nearing the end of his 30-day window to remain out on assignment, but now that he is dealing with calf problems, he'll stay in Triple-A for at least one more start before returning to Los Angeles. Once fully healthy, the right-hander may be forced into a bullpen role given the abundance of depth already in the Dodgers' starting rotation.

  • Tarik Skubal SP | DET

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Exits with trainer

Skubal was removed from his start Friday against the Marlins with left side tightness, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Skubal had given up three earned runs on four hits and logged two strikeouts in 3.1 innings before calling a trainer out to the mound in the fourth. He's due to undergo imaging Saturday to determine the severity of his injury, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.com, at which point the team will have a better idea of his availability for his next start -- tentatively scheduled to come against Cleveland on Thursday.

  • JP Sears SP | SD

Padres' JP Sears: Officially called up

The Padres recalled Sears from Triple-A El Paso to start Friday's game against the Rockies.

Sears will give the Padres' regular starters an additional day of rest by making a spot start Friday. The 29-year-old southpaw has appeared in three games with the Padres this season, allowing nine runs with an 8:3 K:BB across 14.2 innings. David Morgan (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Astros' Colton Gordon: Recalled from Triple-A

The Astros recalled Gordon from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Gordon will take the 26-man roster spot vacated by Lance McCullers, who was placed on the 15-day IL with right hand soreness. Gordon will be available out of the bullpen Friday versus Atlanta. He's appeared in 16 games for the Astros this season, making 14 starts, and has a 5.67 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 64:15 K:BB across 73 innings of work.

  • Astros' Lance McCullers: Placed on 15-day IL

The Astros placed McCullers on the 15-day injured list Friday due to right hand soreness, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

McCullers returned to Houston to be evaluated, and the Astros have recalled Colton Gordon from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move. McCullers threw two innings out of the bullpen in Thursday's loss to the Blue Jays and allowed one run on two hits and one walk with zero strikeouts. On the season, McCullers owns a 6.88 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 57:38 K:BB across 52.1 innings.

  • Luis Garcia SP | HOU

Astros' Luis Garcia: Season officially over

The Astros transferred Garcia to the 60-day injured list Friday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Garcia was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right elbow discomfort, so he will be ineligible to return in 2025 after Friday's move. Specifics regarding the right-hander's injury are unclear at this point, but he'll have a full offseason to recover. AJ Blubaugh is the leading candidate to fill Garcia's spot in the rotation the rest of the way.
