Messick (8-6) took the loss Sunday against the Rays, allowing a run on six hits and no walks over 7.2 innings. He struck out six.

Messick was excellent Sunday, holding the Rays to a lone run on a Cedric Mullins squeeze bunt, though that proved enough to stick the left-hander with the loss as the Guardians were stymied by Drew Rasmussen in an eventual 1-0 defeat. Messick has held opponents to a lone earned run in each of his last four starts, lowering his ERA to 2.59 with a 1.04 WHIP and 122:36 K:BB across 21 outings (125.1 innings) this season. He's currently slated to face the Diamondbacks at home his next time out.

Rasmussen (9-5) earned the win Sunday over the Guardians, allowing one hit and one walk across seven scoreless innings. He struck out nine.

A Steven Kwan double to lead off the game proved to be the lone hit given up by Rasmussen on Sunday as he blanked Cleveland in an eventual 1-0 victory. In two starts since the All-Star break, Rasmussen has given up just two runs on eight hits across 12 frames after allowing 11 runs in just 7.1 innings in his final two outings of the first half. Overall, Rasmussen's ERA sits at 3.07 through 20 starts (111.1 innings) this season with a 0.93 WHIP and 112 strikeouts. He's tentatively lined up to face the White Sox at home his next time out.

Springs was lifted midway through the second inning of his start Sunday against the Twins due to an apparent injury, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. He was charged with five runs (four earned) on four hits and one walk across 1.1 innings.

After recording just four outs on 36 pitches, Springs was pulled from Sunday's series finale in the middle of an at-bat against Austin Martin. Luis Morales came on from the bullpen to replace Springs. The Athletics will likely provide an update on the nature and severity of Springs' injury later Sunday.

The Twins placed Paredes (oblique) on the 15-day injured list Sunday.

The right-hander was scheduled to start Saturday against the A's but was scratched due to an oblique issue, and he'll now be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. A longer absence wouldn't be surprising for Paredes given the nature of the injury.

The Giants recalled Whisenhunt from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Angels in San Francisco.

Whisenhunt will be entering the rotation in place of Trevor McDonald (elbow), who could be facing a long-term absence after he was diagnosed Friday with a UCL sprain. The Giants previously called Whisenhunt up for spot starts June 17 and July 9, but the southpaw has otherwise spent the entire season in the Triple-A rotation. Over 82.1 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, Whisenhunt has submitted a 4.15 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 90:38 K:BB across 82.1 innings.

The Twins reinstated Prielipp (finger) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Athletics at Target Field.

Prielipp wound up missing slightly more than the minimum 15 days due to a blister on his left middle finger. The southpaw tossed three innings and 32 pitches in a rehab start with Triple-A St. Paul last Sunday, so he'll likely be operating with some restrictions in his return to the rotation. Considering Prielipp is on pace to easily surpass the career-high 101.1 innings he covered across three minor-league stops in 2025, the Twins are likely to manage his workload over the final two months of the season.

Harrison (forearm) said that he expects to make a rehab start Thursday with High-A Wisconsin before returning from the 15-day injured list the following week, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Harrison said he's targeting a workload of 5-6 innings in the rehab start, so he shouldn't require any additional buildup time if he's able to meet that goal. The 24-year-old southpaw hit the shelf July 11 due to left forearm tightness, but a precautionary MRI revealed nothing concerning, and he was cleared to resume throwing shortly afterward. Before going down with the injury, Harrison had an 8-2 record with a 3.01 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 101:20 K:BB over 83.2 innings.

Ryan (arm) is slated to make his next start Wednesday against the Royals at Target Field, Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reports.

Ryan had initially been lined up to start Sunday versus the Athletics, but the Twins scratched him due to what manager Derek Shelton referred to as "right arm fatigue." The Twins never expressed any major concern about the issue, and the two-time All-Star looks like he'll be ready to go by the middle of the week. The upcoming start versus the Royals could be Ryan's last with the Twins, as the 30-year-old is expected to be a sought-after commodity ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline.

Montgomery (elbow) allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out three over 4.1 innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.

Montgomery built up to 75 pitches in his seventh rehab start, which he's hoping will be his final outing in the minors before coming off the 60-day injured list, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Rangers manager Skip Schumaker wouldn't commit to Montgomery making his next appearance in the majors, however, as the Rangers presumably want to assess him during a bullpen session before deciding on his next step. Montgomery -- who has been on the shelf all season while recovering from March 2025 UCL surgery -- has turned in a 4.74 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 16:2 K:BB in 19 innings over his seven starts between Round Rock and Double-A Frisco.

The Red Sox activated Suarez (groin/illness) from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

The left-hander was originally poised to come off the injured list in the middle of last week, but an illness pushed back his return. Now fully recovered from the ailment and the groin strain that originally landed him on the IL, Suarez is ready to make his first big-league appearance since July 5. In five starts prior to that injury-shortened outing, the 30-year-old had a 2.10 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 35:7 K:BB over 30 innings.
