Mize (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

It will be his first time on a mound since he went down with a left hamstring strain in late June. Mize will need time to get built back up and is likely several weeks away from a return.

The Orioles designated Stoudt for assignment Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

A 40-man roster move was required following Friday's trade with the Phillies which added Seranthony Dominguez and Cristian Pache to the roster. It's the third time since February that Stoudt has been designated for assignment, as he's bounced around from the Reds to the Mariners to the Orioles and now could be on the move again.

The Mets activated Senga (shoulder/triceps) from the 60-day injured list Friday.

Senga is set to make his season debut for the Mets on Friday against Atlanta after being sidelined with right shoulder and triceps problems. The plan is for the right-hander to throw around 85 pitches or five innings Friday after he threw 79 pitches in his final rehab start.

The Marlins will recall Meyer from Triple-A Jacksonville to rejoin their rotation this weekend in Milwaukee, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.

Meyer last pitched with Jacksonville on July 20 and the Marlins have an opening in their rotation Saturday, so he'll be on plenty of rest for the start. The young right-hander was sent down back in April as a means to manage his workload, and he's pitched well of late, allowing just two runs with a 23:6 K:BB over 19 innings covering his last four Triple-A starts. Meyer has averaged 77.5 pitches in those outings, with a high of 86, and the Marlins will continue to keep a close eye on his workload down the stretch. Even with likely restrictions, Meyer is worthy of being scooped back up in fantasy leagues where he's available. He posted a 2.12 ERA and 14:3 K:BB over 17 frames in three starts for the Marlins earlier this season.

The Red Sox acquired Paxton from the Dodgers on Friday for minor-league infielder Moises Bolivar, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Paxton's swing-and-miss stuff has disappeared this season, as he managed just 64 strikeouts over 89.1 innings with the Dodgers before he was designated for assignment earlier this week. However, he fanned 101 in 96 frames with the Red Sox just last season, and a return to Boston could help him recapture some of form he displayed in 2023. Paxton may step in and replace Cooper Criswell as Boston's No. 5 starter, though the Red Sox may have starting roles available for both pitchers if they expand the rotation to six men.

The Red Sox are in talks to acquire Paxton from the Dodgers, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Boston was immediately linked to Paxton after the left-hander was designated for assignment by the Dodgers and it sounds like a trade could come together soon. Paxton has collected an underwhelming 4.43 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 64:48 K:BB in 89.1 innings over 18 starts this season, but he did post a 101:33 K:BB across 96 frames in 2023 with the Red Sox.

The Marlins outrighted Chirinos to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.

Chirinos was removed from the Marlins' 40-man roster earlier this week but will remain in the organization after passing through the waivers unclaimed. He'll provide rotation depth at Jacksonville.

Cavalli (elbow/illness) was sent to High-A Wilmington on Thursday to resume his rehab assignment.

Cavalli hasn't pitched in more than a month, as he was pulled off his initial rehab assignment due to the flu. The right-hander is coming back from Tommy John surgery and there's been no indication he had a setback with his elbow, and he's now ready to ramp things back up. Cavalli had pitched well in his first three rehab starts, collecting a 2.16 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 13 strikeouts in 8.1 innings. He'll need some time to get built back up but could be a candidate for the Nationals' rotation within the next month or so.

Stripling (2-9) picked up the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings while striking out three.

Stripling ran into trouble in the second inning after allowing four consecutive batters to reach base with one out. He would end up being tagged for five runs in the frame but recovered nicely, retiring 13 of the next 15 batters he faced as the Oakland offense roared back in an eventual 6-5 victory. The right-hander has surrendered at least four runs in each of his last three starts dating back to May 18, and Stripling had also lost each of his previous four starts prior to Thursday's win.

Bibee (knee) is listed as the Guardians' probable pitcher for Monday's game in Detroit.

Bibee experienced cramping in his right knee during his most recent start Wednesday, which also came against the Tigers, but the issue doesn't look as though it'll prevent him from taking his next turn through the rotation. The right-hander will carry an 8-4 record, 3.50 ERA and 1.09 WHIP into Monday's outing.
