Pallante took the loss Monday against Milwaukee, allowing five runs on five hits and five walks with three strikeouts across five innings.

Pallante issued a season-high five walks Monday and failed to pitch into the sixth inning after doing so in four straight starts. It was his first time allowing multiple home runs in an appearance this season, giving up a three-run shot to Willy Adames in the first and a two-run homer to Rhys Hoskins in the fourth. Since the start of August, Pallante has a 4.11 ERA with a 22:17 K:BB across 35 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Reds next time out.

Peralta (10-7) earned the win Monday against St. Louis, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks across 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

Peralta nabbed his third win in four starts, though Monday's outing was his third time striking out three or fewer hitters in that stretch. The 28-year-old surrendered a pair of solo home runs to Pedro Pages but was otherwise impressive. Through 153.2 innings this season, Peralta has a 3.75 ERA and a 175:58 K:BB. He's tentatively scheduled to close out a two-start week this weekend against Colorado.

Hendricks will start Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Hendricks looked to be destined to head to the bullpen after the return of Jordan Wicks from the 60-day injured list Sunday gave the Cubs five healthy starters. However, Justin Steele was scratched from his start Tuesday due to elbow soreness, resulting in Hendricks sticking around in the rotation for now. Hendricks served up six earned runs across only 1.2 innings in a start Wednesday against Pittsburgh, though he had been more effective in his prior four outings (3.92 ERA, 1.26 WHIP in 20.2 innings).

Steele will not start Tuesday's game against the Pirates after experiencing elbow soreness, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Manager Craig Counsell didn't provide many details, and it's unclear whether Steele will require imaging or a potential stint on the injured list. Kyle Hendricks will make a spot start in Steele's place.

Cole exited Monday's start against the Rangers due to an apparent calf injury, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Cole completed six innings and dominated the Rangers, tallying nine strikeouts while allowing only one earned run on four hits and a walk. He came back out for the seventh inning but suffered the injury during his warmup pitches. The severity and exact nature of the issue are unclear.

Woods Richardson did not factor into the decision in Monday's 5-4 win against the Rays, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts over 3.2 innings.

Woods Richardson was pulled at just 71 pitches with two outs and a runner on second in the fourth inning. This was the 23-year-old's lowest pitch count in an outing since June 2, but he has now failed to complete more than five frames seven times in his past 10 starts. On the season, he owns a 3.95 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 104:40 K:BB across 120.2 innings and lines up for a road matchup with the Royals this weekend.

Littell (5-9) took the loss against the Twins on Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks with two strikeouts over four innings.

Littell was a bit rusty in his return from the injured list, walking a season-high four batters and surrendering a three-run homer in the third inning. On the plus side, his velocity was mostly in line with his season averages, and he generated a solid 11 whiffs on 78 pitches. The 28-year-old owns a 4.04 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 118:30 K:BB across 133.2 innings this season and lines up for a tough matchup with the Orioles this weekend.

Madden did not factor into the decision in Monday's 3-0 loss to the Padres, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks with two strikeouts over four innings.

Madden was used as a bulk reliever and tossed four scoreless frames before yielding two runs without recording an out in the eighth. The rookie has allowed three earned runs with an unimpressive 3:3 K:BB across nine major-league innings and could make another appearance this weekend against the Athletics, assuming he continues to work as a starter or primary pitcher.

Darvish (elbow) will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday against the Tigers, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Darvish hasn't pitched for the Padres since May 29, but after throwing 66 pitches in a simulated game Friday and then completing a bullpen session Monday, he's in the line to return to action versus Detroit. Because he hasn't pitched in a formal game environment since making a minor-league rehab appearance June 19, Darvish could have a workload restrictions imposed on him in his return to the big-league rotation.

Musgrove (5-4) earned the win against the Tigers on Monday, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out eight over six scoreless innings.

Musgrove was fantastic, yielding only singles while generating 15 swinging strikes on 94 pitches. He has excelled in five outings since returning from injury Aug. 12, yielding just four total earned runs and logging three consecutive quality starts. On the season, the 31-year-old owns a 4.09 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 71:21 K:BB across 77 innings and next lines up to face the Giants this weekend.
