  • Marlins' Noble Meyer: Close to mound work

Meyer (shoulder) is expected to resume throwing off a mound next week, FishOnFirst.com reports. Meyer is closing in on completing his first bullpen session since being shut down due to a right shoulder strain coming out of spring training. According to the report, the Marlins are eyeing early-to-mid June for Meyer's 2026 debut if all goes well in his throwing program. The Marlins could initially have Meyer pitch in rehab games in the rookie-level Florida Complex League and/or the Florida State League, but he's eventually expected to be part of the rotation at High-A Beloit.

  • Marlins' Noble Meyer: On shelf at High-A

High-A Beloit placed Meyer on its 7-day injured list Tuesday due to an undisclosed injury. Meyer had been lined up to start Tuesday, but he apparently was dealing with a physical issue that prompted Beloit to place him on the IL instead. Until the nature of his injury is known, the 20-year-old righty will be without a clear timeline for a return. Meyer owns a 5.09 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 49:21 K:BB in 40.2 innings with Beloit on the season.

  • Marlins' Noble Meyer: Was dealing with sciatica

Meyer revealed Friday that he's been dealing with sciatica but is hopeful of being past the issue, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. It's not clear exactly when or how long the sciatica was a problem, but Meyer noted that it was affecting his velocity and command. He feels healthy now and tossed two innings in Friday's Spring Breakout game versus Cardinals prospects, allowing run run with one strikeout and maxing out at 95 mph on the radar gun.

  • Marlins' Noble Meyer: Shine comes off at High-A

Meyer registered a 5.18 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 42:32 K:BB in 40 innings across 11 appearances for High-A Beloit. Meyer was the consensus top prep righty in last year's draft, and it's an accomplishment for him to have logged 74 innings this season while climbing to High-A as a 19-year-old. However, his 16.3 percent walk rate at Single-A and 17.9 percent walk rate at High-A are dangerously high marks, even given his youth. He walked between two and five batters while never logging more than five innings over his last 10 starts. Meyer's got very strong stuff, but his control isn't ready for the upper levels.
