Fedde came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-innings loss to the Pirates, walking four and striking out two over six scoreless, no-hit innings.

The right-hander traded goose eggs with Mitch Keller for 88 pitches (51 strikes) before getting lifted in a game that didn't see its first run cross the plate until the 12th inning. Fedde has delivered two quality starts in three trips to the mound to begin the season, and he'll take a 4.20 ERA and 5:8 K:BB through 15 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Astros.

Imanaga (2-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Rangers, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out four.

It was a tough day for Imanaga, who allowed a solo home run to Corey Seager in the first inning before he was tagged for a four-spot in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run Jonah Heim homer. Imanaga had been rolling to start the year, allowing just two runs through his first 18.1 innings coming into the day while posting a 0.71 WHIP. The left-hander's ERA now sits at 2.70 following his first loss. Imanaga will look to get back on track in his next outing, tentatively lined up for next week in San Diego.

Mahle (2-0) earned the win Wednesday over the Cubs, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out four.

Mahle was excellent Wednesday, limiting the Cubs to just one extra-base hit over seven innings to record a second straight win and his first quality start since 2023. The 30-year-old right-hander has allowed just two earned runs on five hits across 13.2 innings in his first three starts this season. Mahle will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week at home against the Angels.

The Dodgers optioned Wrobleski to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

One day after getting called up to start Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Wrobleski will be swapped off the active roster for right-hander Landon Knack, who will be recalled to fill the other opening in the Los Angeles rotation. The Dodgers expanded to a six-man rotation this week due to the injury to Blake Snell (shoulder) and for the purpose of giving Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki extra days of rest between starts, but Wrobleski doesn't look as though he'll be in line for an extended stay with the big club. The Dodgers will look to break in a new sixth starter next week after Wrobleski was rocked for eight earned runs on eight hits and three walks over five innings en route to taking a loss Tuesday in his 2025 debut in the majors.

Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Arrighetti will not require surgery to repair his fractured right thumb, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Arrighetti will be in a cast for two to two and a half weeks before having imaging to see how the thumb has healed. The Astros expect to have a better idea at that point what Arrighetti's timetable for a return will look like, though general manager Dana Brown said in a radio appearance Wednesday that he anticipates that the young right-hander will be out "six weeks or so," per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle. The hurler was injured when he was struck by a line drive while playing catch in the outfield before Monday's game in Seattle.

Cavalli (elbow) threw two innings in a Florida Complex League game Wednesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Per Nationals manager Dave Roberts, Cavalli was sitting in the 94-to-97 mph range with his fastball in what was his first rehab appearance of the season. Cavalli is nearly two years removed from Tommy John surgery, having been delayed last year as he went through a "dead arm" phase. The Nationals will manage the righty's workload in the first half, with the goal of having him join the rotation at some point after the All-Star break.

Atlanta optioned Thompson to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Thompson is clearing out to make room on the roster for Rafael Montero, who is officially active Wednesday after being acquired via trade from Houston. The 31-year-old Thompson was with the big club for a week but didn't make an appearance.

The Orioles placed Eflin (lat) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Eflin was removed from his start Monday in Arizona with what the team initially referred to as shoulder fatigue, but an MRI revealed a low-grade lat strain. A timetable for Eflin will become clearer after he is cleared to throw, but he'll be shut down from activity for at least one week and will spend beyond the minimum 15 days on the IL.

Steele (elbow) believes he will require only a minimum 15-day stay on the injured list, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Steele felt discomfort in his left elbow during the middle of Monday's start against the Rangers, but he remained in the game and threw a couple more scoreless innings, finishing the night with eight strikeouts over seven scoreless frames. However, he felt sore Tuesday and was placed on the IL on Wednesday with what the Cubs are calling left elbow tendinitis. Steele was on the IL last September with the same injury and missed three weeks of action that time. While it's encouraging that Steele believes he will make a quick return, the Cubs will have the ultimate say, and it's too soon to know how much time the southpaw will ultimately miss.

The Tigers announced Wednesday that Flores (shoulder) is playing catch daily but has yet to advance to completing bullpen sessions in his throwing program, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Flores didn't pitch at all in spring training after he received a platelet-rich plasma injection shortly after reporting to camp to alleviate soreness in his right shoulder. After being moved off Detroit's 40-man roster in the offseason, Flores will need to return to full health and perform well in the upper levels of the minors before popping back up on the radar for a call-up.
