Giolito didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Blue Jays after allowing three runs on five hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out seven.

After missing all of last season due to elbow surgery and the start of 2025 due to a hamstring issue, Giolito registered a quality start in his Red Sox debut Wednesday. The right-hander's fastball touched 96 mph, which is an especially encouraging sign coming off a significant injury. It was equally promising to see Giolito throw 90 pitches, which suggests he's mostly stretched out following a five-start rehab assignment. He'll look to build on this performance in his next outing, currently projected for next week versus a Rangers team that ranked 25th in runs scored (102) ahead of Wednesday's action.

Singer (4-1) took the loss in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out four.

The Reds gave him no run support in a 6-0 loss, and Singer tossed only 46 of 92 pitches for strikes, but he still came away with his third quality start of the season. The right-hander has looked very good to begin his tenure in Cincinnati, posting a 3.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 36:12 K:BB through 33.1 innings. Singer will look to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Atlanta.

Manager Rob Thomson said Wednesday that Suarez (back) will return from the injured list to start Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Suarez has been on the injured list since the start of the season due to a back injury that surfaced during spring training. He began a rehab assignment April 10, during which he's given up two earned runs while striking out 24 batters across 16.2 innings over four starts. His impressive performance in the minors will give him plenty of momentum heading into his season debut against MLB's sixth-highest scoring offense. Suarez shouldn't face significant workload limitations since he tossed 78 pitches in his finale rehab outing.

Rasmussen (1-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Royals after allowing three runs on six hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out three.

For the sixth time in as many starts to begin the season, Rasmussen hurled at least five innings Wednesday. However, the right-hander gave up a season-high six hits and fanned a season-low three. The Rays appear to be monitoring Rasmussen's workload after he missed nearly 15 months from 2023 to 2024 following elbow surgery, considering the hurler has yet to reach the 90-pitch mark in any of his six outings this year. He sports a 2.64 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB over his first 30.2 innings of the campaign.

Ortiz did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's win over the Twins, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out five over 6.1 scoreless innings.

Ortiz retired the side in three of his innings Wednesday and finished with 10 whiffs and 16 first-pitch strikes on 90 pitches (56 strikes). It was Ortiz's first scoreless start of the season, and he has fanned 31 batters over his last four outings. The right-hander has a 4.78 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 32 innings this season, and he'll look get back to a .500 record in his next start, which is tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Nationals.

Cameron (1-0) earned the win Wednesday against the Rays after allowing one hit and five walks in 6.1 scoreless innings. He struck out three.

Making his major-league debut, Cameron fired six-plus innings of one-hit ball despite struggling with his control. The left-hander took a no-hit bid into the seventh frame, but Curtis Mead broke it up to bring Cameron's impressive night to an end. It's possible Wednesday was just a spot start for Cameron, as Cole Ragans (groin) has been able to avoid the injured list to this point. However, Cameron's next turn in the rotation does tentatively line up for next week versus the White Sox, who entered Wednesday ranked last in batting average (.208), so he would have plenty of streaming appeal in the event that Ragans isn't ready to start.

Lopez (2-2) took the loss against the Guardians on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six over 6.1 innings. He did not issue a walk.

Lopez was dominant through the first six innings of Wednesday's contest, retiring 14 straight batters in the process. He was lifted in the seventh frame after giving up the first run of the game on a throwing error, and Lopez was tagged with a second run after Bo Naylor belted a three-run homer off Brock Stewart. Despite taking the loss, Lopez recorded his second quality start of the season and sports a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 26:4 K:BB across 28 innings. His next start is slated for next week at home against Baltimore.

Mikolas (1-2) picked up the win in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Reds, scattering three hits over 5.1 scoreless innings in a 6-0 victory. He struck out four without walking a batter.

The veteran right-hander finally got into the win column with a razor-sharp performance. Mikolas tossed 52 of 77 pitches for strikes, although he faded a couple outs short of his second straight quality start. A rough outing in Boston on April 8 is still marring his overall ratios, but over his last four starts, Mikolas sports a 2.14 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB over 21 innings. He lines up to make his next trip to the mound at home early next week against the Pirates.

Irvin (2-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Phillies after allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out two.

Irvin struggled in a tough matchup in Philadelphia, yielding a season-high eight knocks and six earned runs. The right-hander also tied season worsts with three walks and two punchouts, posting just five whiffs Wednesday. However, Irvin still managed to toss at least six innings in his fifth straight outing, so he'll look to continue providing length for the Nationals in his next scheduled appearance versus the Guardians. He owns a respectable 4.01 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 33:11 K:BB across 42.2 innings in 2025.

Sanchez (3-1) earned the win Wednesday against the Nationals after allowing two runs on five hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out six.

After being limited to two innings due to forearm soreness in his last start against the Mets, Sanchez looked sharp and didn't appear to be facing any restrictions Wednesday. While he did lend a season-high three free passes, the left-hander generated 13 whiffs and yielded just one extra-base hit. Sanchez has thrown at least five innings in five of his six outings this season, and he'll take a steady 3.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 39:11 K:BB over 31.1 innings into his next scheduled appearance against the Rays.
