The Padres transferred Darvish (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

The transaction won't affect Darvish's timeline for a return, as he's already spent more than two months on the shelf while waiting to make his 2025 debut for the Padres. The right-hander's move to the 60-day IL will clear a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Bryce Johnson, whose contract was selected from Triple-A El Paso. Darvish was able to make a rehab start with Triple-A El Paso on May 14, but after he experienced renewed soreness in his elbow coming out of that appearance, he was shut down from throwing for about two weeks. The veteran right-hander has since resumed ramping up again and most recently threw a 40-pitch simulated game Saturday, so he could soon be cleared to head back out on a rehab assignment. Darvish looks to be a candidate to return to the San Diego rotation in late June or early July.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that McClanahan (triceps) played catch from 100-plus feet last week, and the pitcher "says it's the best he's felt," Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

McClanahan was shut down for a bit due to ongoing issues with his nerve-related triceps injury, but Cash seemed to offer a much more optimistic tone Monday when discussing the pitcher's progress. The southpaw will visit with Dr. Gregory J. Pearl, a nerve specialist, in Texas on Tuesday, and the Rays could provide more information regarding McClanahan's long-term outlook following that exam.

The Athletics activated Ginn (quad) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Ginn missed almost a month of action with a strained quad. The Athletics have not revealed whether Ginn will rejoin the rotation or be used in the bullpen. The club has not announced starters beyond the firs game Monday of its four-game set against the Astros, so Ginn could theoretically slot into the rotation any of those days.

The Mariners activated Gilbert (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

He's set to make his long-awaited return to the Mariners' rotation Monday versus the Red Sox after missing nearly two months of action with a flexor strain. Gilbert threw 72 pitches across five scoreless innings during his final rehab start, so he should face only minor workload restrictions in his first outing back with the big club.

Brubaker (ribs) rejoined the Yankees on Monday after completing his rehab assignment, and manager Aaron Boone said that the right-hander is in line for "potential activation" from the 60-day injured list, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

Brubaker has yet to make his Yankees debut since being acquired from the Pirates in March 2024, as he was limited to a slew of minor-league rehab appearances last season while completing his recovery from April 2023 Tommy John surgery. The right-hander received a clean bill of health heading into spring training, but he fractured three of his ribs after being struck by a comebacker in late February and has spent the last three-plus months working his way back from the injury. Brubaker has finally reached the finish line in his recovery, and he closed out his extended rehab assignment in impressive fashion by allowing one earned run on no hits and two walks over five innings in his most recent outing with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. Though Brubaker has been building up as a starter during his rehab, he may be more likely to work in long relief once the Yankees activate him within the next few days.

Clarke has not pitched for High-A Greenville since May 24 due to a blister caused by a hangnail issue, SoxProspects.com reports.

Clarke was one of the top breakout prospects of the first two months, as the 2024 fifth-round pick logged a 1.88 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 38:9 K:BB in 24 innings across Single-A and High-A. He has yet to throw more than 4.2 innings in a pro start but has demonstrated elite stuff from the left side. Clarke has not been placed on the injured list despite being sidelined for over three weeks.

Garrett (elbow) played catch Monday for the first time since having UCL revision surgery with an internal brace on his left elbow in December, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Garrett took the first major step in what will be a lengthy rehab process. He will be sidelined for the entire 2025 season but could be ready in time for Opening Day in 2026 if he can avoid any setbacks in the coming months.

Verlander (pectoral) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Verlander completed a 65-pitch simulated game last Wednesday and a bullpen session Saturday, clearing the way for his return to the Giants rotation. He will be skipping a rehab assignment and will likely be looking at a maximum of around 80 pitches Wednesday versus Cleveland. Verlander has posted a 4.33 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 41:21 K:BB across 52 innings this season and is still looking for his first win.

Gusto will move up a day to start Monday against the Athletics, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Gusto's next turn had been scheduled for Tuesday in the second game of the series in Sacramento, but he'll take the ball a day earlier as a replacement for the injured Lance McCullers (foot). The right-handed Gusto last pitched Wednesday, so he will be starting on a normal four days' rest and is set for a second start later this week versus the Angels.

The Astros placed McCullers on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a right foot sprain, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

McCullers' move to the IL was unexpected, as the Astros had listed the right-hander as their starter for Monday's series opener in Sacramento before he presumably sustained the injury at some point during or shortly after his most recent outing last Tuesday versus the White Sox. Astros manager Joe Espada will likely provide more details on the severity of McCullers' injury later Monday. Ryan Gusto will be moved up a day in the pitching schedule to take the hill for the series opener against the Athletics in place of McCullers, while Jason Alexander was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land and could be needed to make a spot start Tuesday.
