Wheeler (12-6) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out eight.

Wheeler pitched well Tuesday, allowing just one run through five innings before Marcell Ozuna put Atlanta ahead with a solo home run in the sixth, which proved to be enough to stick Wheeler with the loss. The 34-year-old right-hander hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his last four starts (26 innings). Wheeler's ERA now sits at 2.73 this season with a 0.98 WHIP and 170:43 K:BB across 154.2 innings.

Cabrera (2-5) took the loss against Arizona on Tuesday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts across six innings.

Cabrera battled but allowed nine hard-hit balls while generating just two swinging strikes on 90 pitches. Still, the 26-year-old put a six-run outing Wednesday behind him and has posted two quality starts and two scoreless efforts in four August appearances. On the year, he owns a 5.65 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 73:38 K:BB across 65.1 innings and lines up for risky matchup at Coors Field next week.

Rodriguez (2-0) earned the win against the Marlins on Tuesday, allowing one run on six hits and one walk with five strikeouts across 5.1 innings.

While he generated an unimpressive nine swinging strikes, Rodriguez tallied a season-high 100 pitches before being pulled with two men on in the sixth inning. The southpaw has completed at least five frames in each of his three outings this season and owns a 3.94 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB in that span. He appears to be fully stretched out despite skipping a rehab assignment and lines up to face the Mets at home next week.

Lopez allowed one run on five hits and one walk over five innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Phillies. He struck out 10.

Making his first start since July 28, Lopez looked sharp against a stout Phillies lineup, logging a season-high 10 strikeouts while allowing a lone run on a J.T. Realmuto base hit in the fourth inning. Atlanta didn't seem to have any limitations on Lopez in his return -- he threw 90 pitches over five frames before departing with the game tied 1-1. Overall, the 30-year-old Lopez is 7-4 with a sparkling 2.05 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 112:38 K:BB across 20 starts (109.2 innings) this season. He's currently lined up for a home matchup this weekend with the Nationals in his next outing.

Quintana (6-9) took the loss Tuesday against Baltimore, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Quintana struggled with the long ball Tuesday, giving up a two-run homer to Anthony Santander in the first inning before James McCann extended New York's deficit to 6-1 with another two-run shot in the fourth. The 35-year-old Quintana's struggled to an 8.46 ERA while going 0-3 in his last four starts. His ERA is up to 4.57 on the year with a 1.32 WHIP and 106:52 K:BB across 134 innings. Quintana will look to right the ship in his next outing, currently scheduled for this weekend on the road against a hot Padres lineup.

Spiers (4-5) took the loss Tuesday against the Blue Jays, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on 13 hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.

It was a night to forget for the right-hander -- Spiers gave up five homers in the lopsided defeat, including two in each of the second and third innings. The 26-year-old Spiers has given up 19 earned runs in just 12 innings over his last three appearances. His ERA is up to 5.43 on the year with a 1.42 WHIP and 64:17 K:BB across 68.2 innings. He's currently in line to face the Pirates on the road this weekend, though the Reds could elect to move Spiers back to a bullpen role.

Suarez (back) lines up to be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday against the Royals, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The left-hander still needs to complete a bullpen session in the next couple days, but he should return Saturday assuming he doesn't suffer a setback. Suarez landed on the shelf in late July due to lower-back soreness, and he'll likely face some minor workload restrictions in his return to the rotation while coming back without a minor-league rehab assignment.

Lynn (knee) threw a session of live batting practice Tuesday and is scheduled for another session Monday, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol previously indicated Lynn might be able to return from the 15-day injured list following Tuesday's live BP, but the right-hander will need at least one more session before being activated. The 37-year-old threw the equivalent of three innings and should continue building up his workload in the next session before potentially rejoining the rotation later next week.

Matz (back) is scheduled to throw about 90 pitches in his rehab start with Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Matz has a 1.38 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB across 13 frames in his four previous rehab outings, and Wednesday's start is likely to be his last before being reinstated from the injured list. The left-hander will be fully stretched out as a starter, though his official role upon being activated has yet to be determined. Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak indicated the club could move to a six-man rotation with Lance Lynn (knee) also on the cusp of returning from the injured list.

The Nationals promoted Stuart from Double-A Harrisburg to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Stuart will join the Triple-A rotation as a replacement for Brad Lord (hand), who was placed on the 7-day injured list in a corresponding move. The 24-year-old right-hander earned the bump to Rochester based on merit, as he had logged a 2.08 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 21.2 innings over his four starts with Harrisburg since joining the Washington organization after being acquired from the Mets at the trade deadline.
