  • Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Stricken with right forearm discomfort

DeSclafani (elbow) exited Thursday's rehab start with Low-A Dayton with right forearm tightness, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

DeSclafani has been on the disabled list all season with a UCL sprain in his elbow, so the fact that he continues to be hampered by arm discomfort is certainly a cause for concern. It's unclear how much this ailment will set him back in his rehab, but more should be known following DeSclafani's scheduled examination with team doctors Friday.

  • Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Exits early in rehab start

DeSclafani (elbow) exited Thursday's rehab start with Low-A Dayton after recording just one out.

DeSclafani was tagged for seven runs and was able to record just one out before meeting with the team trainer and ultimately exiting Thursday's minor-league rehab start in the top of the first inning. An update on the rehabbing pitcher's condition should become available following the game, but it's clear that DeSclafani isn't where he needs to be in order to rejoin the Reds' rotation in the near future.

  • Rockies' German Marquez: Allows three through six in no-decision

Marquez allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five batters through six innings during Thursday's won over the Mets. He didn't factor into the decision.

Marquez has now allowed three runs or fewer in each of his past six starts with 44 strikeouts through 39.1 innings -- and half those games have been at hitter-friendly Coors Field. The 22-year-old righty sports a serviceable 4.11 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 8.7 K/9 for the campaign, and it's worth noting that his 3.73 FIP suggests everything he's doing on the mound is sustainable. Marquez lines up for a difficult road start against Cleveland next.

  • Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Confirmed as Sunday's starter

Wainwright (back) will start Sunday against the Reds, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

Had Wainwright stayed on his original schedule, he likely would've started Monday against the Royals, but the Cardinals will activate him in order to close out the series in Cincinnati. He'll take on right-hander Homer Bailey in the series finale, bumping Carlos Martinez to Monday's game in KC.

  • Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Will start Friday against Rays

Woodruff will get the ball for Friday's contest against the Rays, Andrew Gruman of MyCommunityNow reports.

The 24-year-old will make his major-league debut in Tampa Bay, and is set to go on an extra day of rest after tossing five scoreless innings with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Saturday. Throughout most of the 2017 season, Woodruff has been posting solid numbers at a hitter-friendly Colorado ballpark, accumulating a 4.46 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 72.2 innings. It remains to be seen whether the right-hander will make a few more starts following Friday's outing, but he could wind up remaining in the rotation for a couple weeks as Chase Anderson continues to recover from an oblique injury.

  • Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Exits after just four frames

Wacha allowed a single run on five hits and three walks while striking out five batters over four innings during Thursday's loss to Milwaukee. He didn't factor into the decision.

Luke Voit pinch hit for Wacha in the top of the fifth frame to end the righty's afternoon early. It was a surprising move because Wacha had pitched into the six inning in each of his previous six outings and posted a sterling 1.86 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 9.8 K/9 during that stretch. Clearly, Wacha has found a groove, and he sports a solid 3.66 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 for the campaign. Wacha projects to make his next start against the Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: In line for Tuesday start

Teheran (thigh) is expected to make his next scheduled start against the Phillies on Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Teheran was removed from Wednesday's start after the fifth inning due to right thigh cramping. The right-hander will get an extra day to recover as Atlanta gets a scheduled day off Monday before hosting Philadelphia, so he should be able to give it a go after resting this weekend. In the event that Teheran is unable to go, Sean Newcomb figures to make Tuesday's start on normal rest.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Will remain in rotation

Senzatela is expected to remain in the starting rotation moving forward, according to manager Bud Black, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Senzatela tossed three innings of work out of the bullpen during Wednesday's loss against the Mets, allowing just one hit while striking out four. His last start came July 24, where the right-hander was battered around by St. Louis. It sounds as if Black will fit him back into the rotation soon, although there hasn't been word on when Senzatela's next appearance will occur.

  • Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Could return this weekend

Wainwright (back) could return to the rotation against the Reds this weekend, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

The Cardinals appear hopeful that Wainwright will be able to return this weekend, while the right-hander has already stated that he's "ready to go." Even if Wainwright ends up getting a few more days off instead of pitching this weekend, he should be penciled into Monday's start against the Royals. With a fluid situation such as this, there will likely be more information within the next 24 hours.

  • Pirates' Trevor Williams: Misses quality start but throws well again

Williams allowed two earned runs in 5.2 innings Wednesday against the Reds. He gave up six hits and two walks while striking out six.

Since his season's first start in Los Angeles on May 8, Williams has compiled a 3.86 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 15 starts covering 84 innings. He's struck out only 59 batters during that span, but he's overachieved in his role as the team's fifth starter. Williams has also put himself in good position to stay in the rotation for 2018.
