Mets' Steven Matz: Dealing with blister on finger

Matz had his start pushed to Saturday due to a blister on his middle finger, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Jason Vargas will pitch in Matz's place Thursday, while Matz will presumably take the mound two days later assuming the blister is no longer an issue. The 27-year-old Matz owns a 3.53 ERA across 12 starts this season.

Mets' Steven Matz: Start pushed to Saturday

Matz will make his next start Saturday against the Diamondbacks, Tim Britton of The Athletic New York reports.

Matz was originally scheduled to start Thursday's series opener, but Jason Vargas will toe the rubber instead. There has been no word of any injury to this point. Matz owns a 3.53 ERA across 12 starts this season.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Nabs fourth win

Anderson (4-1) got the win Wednesday, allowing one run on six hits while striking out six over seven innings against the Phillies.

The only damage was a Jorge Alfaro solo home run with two outs in the fifth inning, but Anderson was otherwise in total command. The lefty didn't issue a walk, induced 16 swings and misses and matched a season high by lasting seven innings. Boosted by tossing three quality starts in his last four tries, Anderson will carry a 4.48 ERA and 64:26 K:BB over 74.1 innings into a home date with the Mets on Monday.

  • Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA

Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Starting rehab stint Thursday

Lucchesi (hip) will make a rehab start for High-A Lake Elsinore on Thursday.

It's still unclear if the young lefty will need an additional rehab start beyond Thursday, though that could depend on how he responds to his first game action since May 14.

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Fans seven in Wednesday's loss

Greinke (5-5) took the loss Wednesday as the Diamondbacks fell 5-4 to the Pirates, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks over 4.2 innings while striking out seven.

The right-hander threw only 58 of 101 pitches for strikes en route to setting a new season high in walks, and this was the first time all season Greinke didn't complete at least five innings in a start. He'll carry a 3.87 ERA into his next outing Monday on the road against the Angels.

  • Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Provides quality start in Wednesday's win

Taillon (4-5) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings while striking out four.

The right-hander threw 72 of 108 pitches for strikes while delivering his third quality start in his last four outings and sixth of the year. Taillon will take a 3.94 ERA into his next start Tuesday at home against the Brewers.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Start pushed back to Saturday

Wood (hamstring) will make his next start Saturday against the Giants, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Wood lasted just 4.2 innings in his previous start due to hamstring and abductor discomfort, so the Dodgers will give him an extra day of rest before his next start. Thanks to an off day Thursday, the Dodgers can simply push Ross Stripling up a day to pitch Friday on regular rest. The extra rest will hopefully allow Wood to get back on track, as the southpaw has allowed a brutal 15 runs (13 earned) across his past three starts (12 innings).

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Set for rehab start Thursday

Hill (finger) will make a rehab start for High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

Hill has been cleared to begin a minor-league rehab stint after getting through a four-inning simulated game with no issues over the weekend. He'll throw four or five innings and run his pitch count up in the 60-to-75 range. If all goes well during Thursday's outing, Hill's next start could be for the Dodgers.

  • Daniel Corcino SP | LAD

Dodgers' Daniel Corcino: Sent back to minors

Corcino was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Corcino is likely unavailable after pitching three innings in Tuesday's win over the Rangers -- allowing one earned run and picking up his first career big-league save in the process -- so he'll head back to the minors to free up a roster spot for Wednesday's starter, Kenta Maeda. The 27-year-old will continue to serve as organizational pitching depth for the Dodgers.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Activated ahead of start

Maeda (hip) was activated from the 10-day disabled list and will start Wednesday against the Rangers.

As expected, Maeda is set to rejoin the Dodgers' rotation after missing the past two weeks with a hip strain. Prior to landing on the shelf, the right-hander compiled a solid 3.61 ERA and 68:18 K:BB across 52.1 innings (10 starts, one relief appearance). Daniel Corcino was sent back to Triple-A in a corresponding roster move.
