Zach Eflin SP | BAL
Phillies' Zach Eflin: To face Cubs on Saturday
Eflin had his next start moved up to Saturday against the Cubs, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.
Eflin will be pitching on normal rest, as both he and Aaron Nola will jump Vince Velasquez in the rotation. Velasquez will now take the mound Monday in Miami while Nola gets the assignment Sunday for the series finale versus the Cubs.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Start pushed up to Friday
Ryu will toe the rubber versus Arizona on Friday after the Dodgers elected to move Clayton Kershaw back an extra day, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Kershaw will now take the mound Saturday and lines up to face Colorado next week. Instead of facing the Rockies himself, Ryu will now take on the Mets next Wednesday following this upcoming start against the Diamondbacks. Across nine starts this year, Ryu has logged a 2.18 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with a 54:12 K:BB in 45.1 innings.

Ross Stripling SP | KC
Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Bullpen set for Thursday
Stripling (back) threw off flat ground Wednesday and will pitch a bullpen session Thursday in Los Angeles, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Stripling was initially supposed to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, but the club has elected to hold off on that for another 24 hours. Expect him to return to the active roster either this weekend or in the early stages of next week if all goes well during Thursday's session.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Next start pushed to Saturday
Kershaw's next outing will come against Arizona on Saturday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Instead of pitching Friday, Kershaw will receive another day of rest -- he last pitched Saturday -- and line up for a matchup with the Rockies next weekend. Hyun-Jin Ryu will pitch on normal rest Friday, and will now take the mound against the Mets, instead of Colorado, during his following start.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: To start Sunday vs. Cubs
Manager Gabe Kapler elected to move Nola up in the rotation as his next start will now come against the Cubs on Sunday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.
Nola will stay on normal rest after pitching a gem against Washington on Tuesday. Due to this shift, Zach Eflin will now pitch Saturday while Vince Velasquez was pushed back to Monday against Miami.

Mike Soroka SP | ARI
Braves' Mike Soroka: Out for rest of 2018
Manager Brian Snitker said Wednesday that Soroka (shoulder) will not pitch again for the Braves this season, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Snitker added that a "best-case scenario" is that Soroka can pitch a little in the instructional league before having a "normal offseason." As expected, the 21-year-old will not take the mound for Atlanta again in 2018 after dealing with shoulder fatigue that has sidelined him since mid-June. With the minor-league season winding down, there just isn't enough time for him to build his arm back up to speed without rushing through some steps, which is obviously not the best option for a young pitcher.

Kolby Allard RP | CLE
Braves' Kolby Allard: Recalled from Gwinnett
Allard was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.
Allard will rejoin the big-league club after being shuttled back and forth from Atlanta to Gwinnett throughout the past month. Across three appearances (one start) with the Braves this year, Allard has allowed 11 earned runs on 19 hits and four walks in eight innings of work. There's a chance that he could make a spot start, especially with Anibal Sanchez nursing a hamstring injury, but it's likely that the team will utilize him as a bullpen arm for the final month of the season.
-
Eric Lauer SP | LAD
Padres' Eric Lauer: Slated for Thursday's start
Lauer (forearm) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list to start Thursday's game against the Rockies, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Lauer, who has completed two rehab starts since being shut down in late July with a forearm strain, will assume the rotation spot of Clayton Richard (knee), who is set to undergo season-ending surgery in the near future. The southpaw only tossed 61 pitches in his most recent rehab start Aug. 24, so he may face some slight restrictions in his first outing back with San Diego.
-
Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Cubs' Drew Smyly: To begin rehab assignment Thursday
Smyly (elbow) will pitch one inning during a rehab assignment Thursday with Low-A South Bend, Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago reports.
Smyly is set to appear in a live game for the first time since last June after undergoing Tommy John surgery 14 months ago. He's been able to throw a decent helping of simulated games, but this will be his first test at the minor-league level. This outing and any additional rehab appearances will go a long way in determining whether Smyly can return to the majors this season.

Jordan Lyles RP | KC
Brewers' Jordan Lyles: Fires 2.2 scoreless innings Tuesday
Lyles tossed 2.2 scoreless innings of relief in Tuesday's loss to the Reds.
Tuesday's outing marked the first time in four games since being acquired by the Brewers in which he kept the opponent off the scoreboard. He has thrown more than an inning in each of his four appearances with Milwaukee, and figures to continue being used in the multi-inning role.
