Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Downed by Dodgers
Gray (0-2) took the loss Saturday as the Rockies fell 7-2 to the Dodgers, getting tagged for five runs on eight hits and two walks over six-plus innings while striking out four.
After exiting his last start with a calf cramp, Gray didn't suffer any recurrence of the issue but also wasn't nearly as effective, throwing 52 of 92 pitches for strikes. The right-hander will take a 5.68 ERA into a much friendlier environment than Coors Field in his next outing, on the road Thursday in San Francisco.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Grabs win in Coors
Buehler (1-0) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over five innings while striking out four in a 7-2 victory over the Rockies.
The right-hander got a fairly early hook despite his effectiveness, throwing 50 of 79 pitches for strikes, but it's understandable the Dodgers wouldn't want to press Buehler's luck at Coors Field. He'll look to keep building momentum in his next outing Thursday in St. Louis.

Corbin Burnes SP | ARI
Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Clobbered by Cubs
Burnes (0-1) took the loss Saturday, coughing up seven runs on six hits -- including three home runs -- and three walks over five-plus innings while striking out six as the Brewers fell 14-8 to the Cubs.
The young right-hander kept his strikeout rate up, but otherwise Burnes has had a disastrous start to 2019, serving up six homers in 10 innings over his two starts. Juiced ball or not, that's not a pace that's going to keep him in the majors for long, much less in the Brewers' rotation. Burnes will take a 9.90 ERA into his next scheduled start Friday, on the road against the Dodgers, another team that's been flexing its home-run muscles in the early going.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Cubs' Cole Hamels: Handcuffs Brewers for first win
Hamels (1-0) picked up the win Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings while striking out five in a 14-8 victory over the Brewers.
In a series that has already featured 45 runs and 15 homers through two games, Hamels' quality start looks downright heroic -- although the veteran southpaw didn't escape completely unscathed, getting taken deep by Lorenzo Cain to lead off the bottom of the first inning. Hamels threw 73 of 111 pitches for strikes, and he'll look to keep rolling in his next outing Friday, at home against the Angels.

Kyle Wright SP | CHC
Braves' Kyle Wright: Delivers quality start
Wright didn't factor into the decision Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over six innings while striking out four in a 4-2 loss to the Marlins.
The runs scored on solo shots by Jorge Alfaro and Pete O'Brien, but otherwise Wright breezed to a quality start, throwing 46 of 77 pitches for strikes. The rookie right-hander will try again for his first big-league win Thursday, at home against the Mets.
-
Sandy Alcantara SP | MIA
Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Shaky control in no-decision
Alcantara didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Braves, giving up two runs on four hits and five walks over four innings. He didn't record a strikeout.
The outing was a major letdown after Alcantara's brilliant 2019 debut against the Rockies, but it's not that surprising the 23-year-old would be inconsistent from start to start given his track record. The right-hander threw 55 of 93 pitches for strikes and only fired eight first-pitch strikes through 21 batters, and he'll face a tough test in his next trip to the mound Friday, at home against the Phillies.

Trevor Williams RP | TEX
Pirates' Trevor Williams: Strikes out three in no-decision
Williams allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and no walks in six innings against the Reds on Saturday. He struck out three but did not factor into the decision.
Facing the Reds for the second time in six days, Williams faltered in the third inning, giving up three runs. The right-hander, who threw 58 of 87 pitches for strikes, was hurt by an error from third baseman Colin Moran. He's set to pitch next weekend against the Nationals on the road. Williams started once in Washington last season, giving up three runs in 5.2 innings.

Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Tosses five scoreless innings
Matz allowed two hits and four walks across five scoreless innings against the Nationals on Saturday. He struck out eight but did not factor in the decision.
Matz exited the game with a 1-0 lead, but both offenses came alive once the bullpens entered the game. The 27-year-old has given up three runs (one earned) in his first two starts (10.1 innings) of the season. Matz lines up to take the mound again Thursday versus the Braves.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Fans nine in no-decision
Corbin allowed three runs on six hits and one walk over six innings during Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Mets. He struck out nine and did not factor into the decision.
Corbin served up three home runs on the afternoon but managed to keep things in check since all three were solo shots. The 29-year-old has a 3.75 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB across 12 innings during his first two starts with the Nationals but has yet to pick up a win. Corbin is next set to take the mound against the Pirates next weekend.

Chris Paddack RP | TEX
Padres' Chris Paddack: Strikes out four in no-decision
Paddack gave up one run (none earned) over 3.2 innings in a no-decision against St. Louis on Saturday. He allowed one hit and four walks while striking out four.
Paddack was nicked for a run in the second inning on a Kolten Wong sacrifice fly but was lifted after walking two consecutive batters in the fourth after 89 pitches. The 23-year-old had difficulty finding the plate and will need to improve his 11:5 K:BB in order to go deeper into games. His next opportunity is currently scheduled for Thursday at Arizona.
