Max Fried SP | NYY
Braves' Max Fried: Betrayed by bullpen
Fried didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Diamondbacks, giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings while striking out three.
The southpaw was sharp once again and delivered his third straight quality start, but Fried got robbed of his second win when the bullpen coughed up a 5-2 lead after his exit. He'll have to deal with some regression eventually, but Fried will carry a 0.92 ERA and 12:4 K:BB through 19.2 innings into his next outing Sunday in Cleveland.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Earns first win
Gray (1-3) allowed one earned run on three hits and three walks while striking out five across seven innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Padres.
Gray started the game with four hitless innings, though the first one allowed was a home run to Wil Myers. He got into a bit of trouble in the sixth inning as well, allowing two hits and a walk, but Gray escaped without allowing any more runs. Gray pitched efficiently, needing only 89 pitches to retire 21 batters. That's been a common theme for him to begin the year as he has pitched at least six innings in all four of his starts.

Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Bailed out by bats
Ray didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 9-6 win over Atlanta, coughing up five runs on seven hits and four walks over six innings while striking out four.
The southpaw was on the hook for his second loss of the season when he exited the game after 100 pitches (60 strikes), but a seventh-inning rally by Arizona erased a 5-2 deficit. Ray will carry a 4.64 ERA and 26:15 K:BB through 21.1 innings into his next start Sunday, on the road against the Cubs.

Pablo Lopez SP | MIN
Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Fans six in loss to Cubs
Lopez (1-3) took the loss Tuesday, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk over five innings while striking out six as the Marlins were downed 4-0 by the Cubs.
The young right-hander put together arguably his best start of the season to date, but a lack of run support kept him out of the win column. Lopez threw 58 of 86 pitches for strikes and started 14 of the 21 batters he faced with first-pitch strikes, but control hasn't been his issue -- he now sports a 23:3 K:BB through 20 innings to go along with his less impressive 5.85 ERA. Lopez will look for his first quality start in his next outing, currently lined up for Tuesday in Cleveland.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Serves up three homers
Strasburg (1-1) took the loss against the Giants on Tuesday by giving up four runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter.
Strasburg allowed only two hits through the first four frames but then served up three home runs during the fifth and sixth innings to take his first loss of the year. The 30-year-old has now given up five homers and 10 total runs across his last two starts. Strasburg will carry a 5.56 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 28:7 K:BB into Sunday's matchup at Miami.

Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Sustains first loss
Flaherty (1-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing five runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out four over 2.2 innings against Milwaukee.
Flaherty wasn't fooling the Brewers, and permitted all five runs in the third inning highlighted by homers from Lorenzo Cain and Yasmani Grandal. The 23-year-old was removed with two outs in the third inning after 75 pitches. The poor outing inflates his ERA to 5.00 and his WHIP to 1.61 after four starts, and he'll look to rebound in a rematch with Milwaukee at home Monday.
-
Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Earns second win
Woodruff (2-1) allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks over 5.2 innings while striking out six to pick up the win Tuesday as the Brewers defeated the Cardinals 8-4.
Woodruff shut out the Cardinals for the first five innings, but was touched for a two-run homer by Marcell Ozuna in the sixth. The 26-year-old has a 5.23 ERA and 1.40 WHIP but an impressive 26:6 K:BB this season, and currently lines up to face the Dodgers at home Sunday.
-
Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT
Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Picks up save in long relief
Eickhoff tossed four scoreless innings of relief Tuesday, allowing three hits and striking out six, to record his first career save in a 14-3 rout of the Mets.
The right-hander was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley earlier in the day and immediately thrust into action, albeit in a mop-up role. Eickhoff threw 59 pitches (38 strikes), and despite the strong outing he could immediately be optioned back down for a fresh bullpen arm as he won't be available to pitch again for a few days.
-
Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Fires seven quality innings
Musgrove allowed two runs on six hits and one walk across seven innings in Tuesday's extra-inning win over the Tigers. He had six strikeouts and did not factor in the decision.
The two earned runs were the first earned runs Musgrove has given up this season, though that hardly tarnishes his strong performance Tuesday. The 26-year-old has a dominant 0.81 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB through 22.1 innings and next lines up to take the mound Monday against the Diamondbacks.

Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Brutal loss to Phillies
Matz (1-1) took the loss Tuesday, getting hammered for eight runs (six earned) on four hits, a walk and a HBP while failing to record an out as the Mets fell 14-3 to the Phillies.
Two of the hits left the park off the bats of Scott Kingery and Maikel Franco, while shortstop Amed Rosario also committed two errors behind him. Matz saw his ERA triple as a result of the disaster, rising from 1.65 to 4.96. The southpaw will need to shake it off quickly -- his next start is a rematch with the Phillies, set for Monday back home at Citi Field.
