Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Spins gem Saturday
Freeland (2-0) earned the win versus the Padres on Saturday, pitching six scoreless innings. He allowed just two hits and a walk while striking four.
It was a masterful performance for Freeland, and plenty of run support from the Rockies allowed him to cruise to the win. The southpaw has a 1.50 ERA and 0.83 WHIP with nine strikeouts in 12 innings to start the year. It's still tough to trust Rockies starters in general at home, but Freeland's been strong in his first two turns through the rotation. A home start versus the Giants awaits Freeland on Thursday.

Mitch Keller SP | PIT
Pirates' Mitch Keller: Dealing with side discomfort
Keller exited Saturday's start against the Cubs with left side discomfort.
The 24-year-old was removed during the third inning after spiking a pitch. He's in line for the loss after allowing two runs on five hits with one strikeout and one walk over 2.2 innings. The severity of the injury remains unclear, so Keller should be considered questionable for his next turn through the rotation until the team updates his status.

Touki Toussaint RP | LAA
Braves' Touki Toussaint: Blanks Mets in short outing
Toussaint didn't factor into the decision during Saturday's 7-1 win over the Mets, allowing three hits and three walks over four scoreless innings. He struck out five.
Making his first start of the season, Toussaint's control came and went -- he threw 45 of 74 pitches for strikes -- and he wasn't efficient enough to last the five innings necessary to qualify for a win, but he otherwise gave Atlanta everything it could have hoped for. There are other candidates for a rotation spot in the organization if he falters, but Toussaint pitched well enough to hold onto the job for now. He'll next take the mound Thursday in a home start against the Blue Jays.

Julio Urias SP | LAD
Dodgers' Julio Urias: Strong in win over Arizona
Urias (1-0) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five in six innings to earn the win Saturday versus the Diamondbacks.
Only a pair of RBI singles could tarnish an otherwise sparkling outing from Urias. The Dodgers homered four times in the contest, giving their starter plenty of run support. Urias has a 2.45 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with eight strikeouts through 11 innings this season. The southpaw is expected to make a home start versus the Giants on Friday.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Mets' Michael Wacha: Tough night in Atlanta
Wacha (1-1) took the loss Saturday as the Mets fell 7-1 to Atlanta, surrendering five runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out five.
The K's salvaged a bit of positive fantasy value for the right-hander, but Wacha simply didn't have his best stuff in this one -- he served up a two-run homer to former Cards teammate Marcell Ozuna in the first inning and never recovered. Wacha will look to rebound in his next start, which is currently scheduled for Friday against the Marlins.

Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Giants' Drew Smyly: Leaves with finger issue
Smyly exited Saturday's start against the Rangers with a left finger injury, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Though he surrendered two runs during the opening frame, the left-hander was pitching well with seven strikeouts through four innings, but he was unable to start the fifth frame. It's unclear if the finger issue -- which was officially labeled left finger discomfort, per John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle -- will impact Smyly's availability for his next start.

Mitch Keller SP | PIT
Pirates' Mitch Keller: Exits with apparent injury
Keller was removed from Saturday's start against the Cubs with an apparent injury, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander spiked a curveball well in front of home plate and subsequently called for the athletic trainer before being removed. Keller exited in line for the loss after allowing two runs on five hits with one strikeout and one walk over 2.2 innings. He should be considered day-to-day until the team provides any specifics on the injury.

Anthony DeSclafani RP | ARI
Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Starting Game 1 Sunday
DeSclafani (shoulder) will start Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Tigers.
The 30-year-old opened the season on the injured list with a right teres strain, but it won't end up costing him too much of the season. DeSclafani made 31 starts for the Reds last season and had a 3.89 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 167:49 K:BB over 166.2 innings.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Tosses bullpen session
Quintana (thumb) threw a 38-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Quintana underwent thumb surgery back at the start of July. He's been able to throw for over two weeks and is now throwing off a mound, with another similar session scheduled for Monday. He doesn't appear to be too many more bullpen sessions away from returning to game action, though the Cubs have yet to specify exactly when he'll make his season debut.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Slated to start Monday
Buehler will make his second start of the campaign Monday versus the Padres, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Clayton Kershaw (back) is expected to rejoin the rotation Sunday, allowing the Dodgers to roll out Kershaw and Buehler on consecutive days as they envisioned in spring training. Buehler was limited to 56 pitches over 3.2 innings in his first start of the campaign last Tuesday, but he should be able to raise that pitch count against San Diego.
