  • Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Delivers strong debut

Garrett (1-0) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings in Sunday's Game 2 win over the Phillies.

Garrett was strong in his major-league debut, throwing 46 of 75 pitches for strikes. Only an Alec Bohm solo shot in the second inning tarnished his otherwise stellar outing. Garrett was the Marlins' 29th man for the doubleheader, so he's likely to return to the alternate training site.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Takes first loss

Cueto (2-1) took the loss Sunday in Game 1 of a doubleheader versus the Padres, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Cueto wasn't great in this contest, and he received no help from the Giants' offense or defense. It's the fourth time in 10 starts Cueto has allowed four or more runs. He's posted a 4.78 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 48 strikeouts over 52.2 innings this season. The right-hander lines up to take on the Athletics on Saturday.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Padres' Mike Clevinger: Shuts out Giants in Game 1

Clevinger (3-2) tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out seven in Sunday's win over the Giants in Game 1 of their doubleheader.

Clevinger got through the outing with 99 pitches (62 strikes), and most importantly he saved the bullpen in the first half of the twin bill. It'll count as the second shutout of the right-hander's career. Through seven starts between San Diego and Cleveland, he's amassed a 3.10 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 38:14 K:BB across 40.2 innings. Clevinger is projected to make his next start on regular rest Friday in Seattle.

  • Rockies' German Marquez: Still starting Wednesday

Marquez will start Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

Initial reports stated that the Rockies planned to take advantage of Monday's day off to push Marquez up in the rotation, but he'll remain in his original spot Wednesday. The right-hander settled for no-decisions in his past two starts as he allowed two runs over seven innings in each of those outings.

  • Reds' Michael Lorenzen: Starting Tuesday

Lorenzen will start Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Lorenzen will start his first game since 2018 as a replacement for Sonny Gray (back), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday. Lorenzen hasn't lasted more than four innings in any of his relief appearances this season, but he should be well-rested since he last pitched Sept. 10.

  • Dustin May SP | MIL

Dodgers' Dustin May: Could start Wednesday

May (foot) will throw a bullpen session Sunday and could start Wednesday against the Padres, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

The right-hander will also participate in fielding drills, and it appears he won't end up missing a turn through the rotation. May exited his start last Thursday after being hit by a comebacker on the left foot, but he was diagnosed with a bruise after a CT scan showed no fracture.

  • Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Starting Game 2

Garrett will start Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

The 23-year-old is serving as the 29th man for the twin bill, and he'll make his big-league debut in the nightcap. Garrett had a 3.34 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 118:37 K:BB over 105 innings at High-A Jupiter last year.

  • Rockies' German Marquez: Pushed up to start Tuesday

Marquez will start Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander previously lined up to start Wednesday, but the Rockies will take advantage of Monday's scheduled off day to move him up in the rotation. Marquez has allowed two runs over seven frames in each of his past two starts.

  • Kwang Hyun Kim SP | STL

Cardinals' Kwang-Hyun Kim: Starting Monday's matinee

Kim (chest) will start Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the Brewers, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The 32-year-old has been sidelined nearly two weeks while taking a blood thinner, but he'll rejoin the rotation with the Cardinals playing five games against the Brewers over the next three days. Kim has been fantastic as a starter with a 0.44 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB over 20.2 innings and will look to pick up where he left off prior to landing on the injured list.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Starting second game of twin bill

Webb is slated to start the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Padres, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

After the first two games of the series in San Diego were canceled, Webb looked like he wouldn't get the chance to pitch again until next week. However, he'll be back in the rotation on short notice Sunday, as Kevin Gausman won't be available to pitch the second game after being diagnosed with right elbow tightness. Since working a career-high seven frames in an Aug. 21 win over the Diamondbacks, Webb has posted a 9.00 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in 14 innings across three subsequent starts.
