DeSclafani (10-4) allowed three earned runs on five hits while striking out four across six innings, taking the loss to the Cardinals on Saturday.

DeSclafani surrendered two home runs -- one by Tyler O'Neill and the other by Paul Goldschmidt -- that accounted for all three of his runs allowed. He didn't issue any walks in his quality performance, but the Giants could muster only one run of support. The 31-year-old is having the best season of his career in his first year with San Francisco, with a 2.78 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 103 punchouts in 113.1 innings. In his last eight starts, he has a 1.88 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP with six wins.

The Mets placed deGrom (forearm) on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The ace will not resume throwing until his right forearm tightness has completely dissipated. How long that will take is unclear at this time, but deGrom has dealt with enough minor arm injuries in 2021 that the Mets are likely to be especially cautious with timing his return. No corresponding transaction has been announced yet, but it figures to be a pitcher replacing deGrom on the active roster.

Kim (5-5) fired six scoreless innings on three hits and two walks while striking out one to earn the win over the Giants on Saturday.

Kim tossed another stellar performance Saturday, allowing just three singles with only one batter reaching second base in six innings. The southpaw fired 19 scoreless innings over his last three starts and he's won his last four contests. He has knocked his ERA down to 2.87 with a WHIP of 1.23. Despite the recent dominance, he isn't a big strikeout pitcher with a 6.9 K/9.

Gray (ribs) was activated ahead of his start Sunday against the Brewers.

He spent the minimum amount of time on the injured list with a rib cage strain. Gray has a 2.10 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 33 strikeouts over his last five starts (25.2 innings). He'll pitch opposite Corbin Burnes.

Triple-A Nashville placed Small on its 7-day injured list Thursday due to a strained tendon in his left middle finger, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

According to Rosiak, the injury predates Small's appearance in the All-Star Futures Game last weekend, though the southpaw was bothered by the finger issue in that outing. The Brewers are expected to hold him out for a few weeks with the hope that the shutdown period resolves the injury. In his three starts for Nashville since receiving a promotion from Double-A Biloxi in June, Small has given up two earned runs on 12 hits and nine walks while striking out six in 14.2 innings.

Fried improved to 7-5 after tossing seven shutout innings Saturday in Atlanta's 9-0 win over Tampa Bay. He scattered four hits and a walk and struck out seven in the 96-pitch outing.

Fried did it all in his first start of the second half, silencing the Tampa Bay bats over seven innings while helping his own cause by going 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBI. The southpaw has already endured two stints on the injured list this season, but he's now one of the few healthy members of an Atlanta rotation that has been gutted by injuries in recent weeks. In addition to Fried, Drew Smyly and Charlie Morton are the only members of the Opening Day rotation that are currently active.

Castillo tossed six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and three walks with eight strikeouts Saturday against Milwaukee. He did not factor into the decision.

Castillo turned in his sixth quality start in his last seven outings, logging his best strikeout total since May 18 in the process. A lack of run support kept his record at a dismal 2-10, but Castillo has completely turned his season around since the start of June, spinning a 1.76 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 56.1 innings over his last nine starts. He's slated to take on the Cardinals next week.

Woodruff went 5.2 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks in a no-decision against the Reds on Saturday. He struck out eight.

Woodruff struggled with walks, issuing a season-high four free passes, but still limited the Reds to a pair of runs in the second inning, only one of which was earned. Woodruff is winless (0-1) in his first three July starts but still owns a sterling 2.04 ERA and 0.83 WHIP in 119 innings overall this season, posting a 137:29 K:BB ratio. He's tentatively scheduled for a home start next week against the White Sox.

Freeland (1-4) allowed three earned runs on six hits while striking out four across six innings, taking the loss to the Dodgers on Saturday.

Freeland provided a quality start, but the Rockies could not support him with enough runs to win. He allowed two doubles and a home run to Mookie Betts, which led to most of the runs scored against him. After a rough start, he's allowed just six runs over his last 28 innings pitched. The 28-year-old has a 5.36 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP in 48.2 innings.

Small was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Nashville on Friday with an undisclosed injury.

It's not clear at this point what Small is dealing with, but he'll be on the shelf until at least next Friday. The left-hander has allowed just two earned runs across 14.2 innings in his three starts since being promoted to Nashville on June 22. Despite his success, Small was already viewed as a long shot to get a big-league callup this season. Given that he's now out with injury, the southpaw seems even more likely to remain in the minors through the end of the campaign.
