Eickhoff was designated for assignment by the Mets on Wednesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander was tagged for 10 runs over 3.1 innings during Tuesday's start, and he's now been DFA'd by New York for the third time this month. Even before Tuesday's rough outing, Eickhoff had a 4.96 ERA and 1.71 WHIP across 16.1 innings this season.

Rutledge (shoulder) was activated from the 7-day minor-league injured list July 20 and assigned to Low-A Fredericksburg. Rutledge made his first start for Fredericksburg on Friday, giving up seven runs (six earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out four over three innings.

Rutledge was sidelined for about a month and a half with a sore right shoulder before he was cleared to begin a rehab assignment July 9 in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. He made two starts in the FCL before he was assigned to Fredericksburg. Though Rutledge was blown up in his first outing with the affiliate, the Nationals are likely just happy to see the 2019 first-round pick back on the mound again.

Corbin won't start Wednesday against the Phillies since the game was postponed due to the Nationals' COVID-19 outbreak, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Trea Turner tested positive for the virus Tuesday and was removed during the first inning, and Washington has apparently had multiple players and coaches test positive. It remains to be seen who else is caught up in the outbreak. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Thursday, and Corbin should start one of those games, assuming he's available.

Wheeler won't start as scheduled Wednesday since the game was postponed due to the Nationals' COVID-19 outbreak, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Trea Turner was forced to exit Tuesday's contest during the first inning after it was discovered he tested positive for the virus, and Washington is apparently dealing with an outbreak involving multiple players and coaches. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Thursday, and Wheeler is poised to start one of those contests.

Contreras (forearm) has resumed playing catch from 75-90 feet, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Contreras returned to Double-A Altoona last week to resume his rehab, and he's increased his throwing distance recently. The Pirates haven't yet announced when the right-hander could resume mound work.

Mikolas (forearm) will make his next rehab start for Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, the team's official site reports.

The recovering right-hander encouragingly threw three perfect innings against Louisville on Saturday, working up to 29 pitches in the game and then getting in approximately 15 more throws on the bullpen mound. Mikolas is projected for anywhere from two to four rehab appearances before a potential mid-August activation.

Flaherty (oblique) fired two scoreless innings in Triple-A Memphis' loss to Gwinnett on Tuesday, allowing a hit and recording three strikeouts.

As his line indicates, Flaherty passed his first rehab test with flying colors, throwing 21 of 31 pitches for strikes. The right-hander is likely due for at least two more appearances with the Redbirds, considering the Cardinals will likely want him built back up to the 70-to-75-pitch range before activation is considered.

Mets manager Luis Rojas said deGrom (forearm) is scheduled to throw a light bullpen session Thursday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.

DeGrom experienced no renewed pain with his right forearm while throwing off flat ground from 90 feet Wednesday, so he'll take another step forward in his recovery process by tossing a side session. The Mets will observe the workout before deciding whether deGrom will require another bullpen session or if he's ready to resume facing hitters in live batting practice. Assuming he can avoid any further setbacks, deGrom looks as though he could be on track to rejoin the New York rotation during the first week of August.

Luzardo was traded from the Athletics to the Marlins on Wednesday in exchange for outfielder Starling Marte, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Luzardo has had lackluster results in the big leagues across the last two seasons with a 5.20 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 97 innings across 25 appearances (15 starts), and he's recorded a 6.52 ERA in eight starts at Triple-A Las Vegas this year. However, the southpaw still has several years of team control with plenty of potential as a prospect, and he boasts 95.6 mph average fastball velocity.

Davis and right-hander Case Williams were traded from the Reds to the Rockies on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Mychal Givens, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Davis progressed to High-A Dayton to begin the 2021 season, and he's posted a 3.60 ERA and 77:35 K:BB in 65 innings across 13 starts. He'll likely report to High-A Spokane.
