Soroka (Achilles) was hit in the knee by a comebacker while pitching in live batting practice a few days ago and doesn't yet have a target date for beginning a minor-league rehab assignment, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Soroka, who is working back from his second surgery in less than two years to repair a torn right Achilles' tendon, isn't dealing with any structural damage to his knee and is merely dealing with a bruise, leaving Atlanta optimistic that his rehab program won't have to be slowed down too long. According to Toscano, Atlanta is preparing for Soroka to return from the 60-day injured list as a starting pitcher, so whenever his minor-league assignment begins, he'll likely need most of the 30-day rehab window to get fully ramped up. Back in May, Soroka said that he and the organization are hoping to keep his innings within the 60-to-100 range in 2022, so his workload shouldn't be much of a concern since he's still realistically at least a month away from making his season debut for the big club.

Adon was recalled from Triple-A Rochester and will start Thursday against the Phillies.

Adon was previously announced as the starter for Thursday's contest, and he's now officially been added to the big-league roster. The rookie right-hander was demoted in early June but returned quickly for a spot start June 17, and he gave up four runs across five innings versus Philadelphia. Overall this year Adon has a 6.97 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 50:36 K:BB over 60.2 innings.

Reds manager David Bell said Gutierrez (elbow) suffered a setback during the final pitch of his live batting practice session Tuesday and will be transferred from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The transaction will open up a spot on the 40-man roster, which the Reds will likely use when they presumably call up another pitcher from the minors for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader with the Pirates. As a result of the move, Gutierrez won't be eligible for activation until the first week of August, though it's unclear if he'll be ready to go by then.

DeSclafani (ankle) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

DeSclafani announced last weekend that he'll miss the remainder of the season due to his right ankle surgery, so his move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural. The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for Tobias Myers, who was traded from Cleveland to San Francisco on Thursday. DeSclafani will likely be ready for spring training in 2023 since he carries a recovery timetable of 4-to-5 months.

Gomber is listed as the Rockies' starting pitcher for Thursday's game in Arizona.

After a brief stint in the bullpen, Gomber re-entered the rotation last weekend as a replacement for Ryan Feltner, who was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. Gomber, who surrendered four earned runs on six hits and no walks across 5.2 innings in a winning effort against the Diamondbacks at Coors Field his last time out, should be in good shape to stay in the rotation at least through the All-Star break after Antonio Senzatela (shoulder) was recently moved to the injured list.

Rogers (4-7) took the loss Wednesday as the Marlins fell 5-2 to the Angels, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out five while also hitting two batters.

The southpaw continues to be unable to provide Miami with much length. Rogers hasn't pitched more than five innings in a start since May 14, and in nine outings since he's compiled a rough 6.47 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 38:23 K:BB through 40.1 innings.

Ashcraft didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-3 extra-inning loss to the Mets, allowing two runs on 10 hits over six innings. He struck out one without walking a batter.

It was far from a dominant outing for the rookie, but Ashcraft danced around danger despite dealing with traffic on the basepaths in every inning, and he exited in line for his fifth win of the year until the Cincinnati bullpen melted down. Instead, he settled for his fifth quality start in his first nine trips to the mound in the majors. Ashcraft will take a 4.35 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB through 49.2 innings into his next start.

Peterson didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-3 extra-inning win over the Reds, giving up three runs on four hits and five walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out seven.

The strikeouts helped salvage some fantasy value for the southpaw, but Peterson struggled to find the plate consistently, tossing only 51 of 93 pitches for strikes. He was on the hook for his second loss of the year until the Mets rallied in the ninth inning. New York will get Chris Bassitt (COVID-19) back this weekend, but Trevor Williams is the more likely pitcher to get bumped from the rotation despite this poor outing from Peterson, who still sports a 3.48 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 67:27 K:BB through 62 big-league innings this season.

Fried (9-2), who picked up the win Wednesday against the Cardinals, was removed after six scoreless innings as a precautionary measure due to tightness in his right glute, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. The left-hander allowed five hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

The 28-year-old exited with only 82 pitches, so he likely would have lasted another inning or two without the injury. It's not believed to be a serious issue, and manager Brian Snitker expects Fried to make his next turn through the rotation, which tentatively lines up for Monday versus the Mets. He has 1.35 ERA and 25:4 K:BB in 26.2 innings across his past four outings.

Mikolas (5-7) took the loss to Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four and walking one over six innings.

Mikolas pitched well in Wednesday's game, throwing 59 of 92 pitches for strikes while picking up four strikeouts and allowing just one walk in the game. He did not get any offensive support though, and he picked up the loss, his seventh of the year. Mikolas did earn a quality start in the outing, his 11th this season. The righty will take a 2.72 ERA into his next outing.
