Dunn allowed three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out one in 4.2 innings in a 9-3 loss Tuesday against the Cubs. He did not factor into the decision.

Tuesday's start highlighted two of Dunn's weaknesses: control and keeping the ball in the park. The 26-year-old threw just 45 of his 81 pitches for strikes, allowed a solo homer to Ian Happ in the first and a two-run shot to Seiya Suzuki in the fifth. Dunn had been dealing with shoulder tightness since his last start but was cleared to pitch Tuesday. In 28 innings for Cincinnati, he's allowed nine homers and has a 20:14 K:BB. The righty has exceeded five innings in just one of his six starts.

Walker (10-4), who was charged with the loss Tuesday against the Pirates, is dealing with a blister on his right index finger, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The right-hander allowed four runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks over five innings.

The 30-year-old threw 50 of his 80 pitches for strikes and generated only seven swinging strikes in Pittsburgh, though it's unclear how much of a factor the blister played in those results. Walker doesn't expect the issue to affect his next turn through the rotation, which tentatively lines up for Sunday in Miami. He'll have the blister drained Wednesday and receive further treatment.

Quintana (5-6) earned the win Tuesday against the Nationals. He allowed one run on five hits over five innings with five strikeouts and no walks.

The veteran southpaw was sharp Tuesday, as the only damage came via a couple of hits in the top of the second inning. This was Quintana's first win in his last five starts and second since being traded to St. Louis. The five strikeouts Quintana recorded were also his highest in that five-start span. He will try to stay in the win column in his next start, which is tentatively lined up to be against the Pirates this weekend.

Wesneski (1-0) earned the victory Tuesday against Cincinnati, striking out eight in five scoreless innings while allowing two hits and walking one in a 9-3 win.

Wesneski retired 13 of the first 14 batters he faced, including 11 in a row at one point, and needed just 61 pitches to complete the five frames. He entered the game in the fifth inning with the Cubs losing 3-1 and was the beneficiary of eight runs of support as he finished out the game. Chicago acquired the 24-year-old from the Yankees before the trade deadline and he made five appearances for Triple-A Iowa before Tuesday's promotion. With Justin Steele (back) on the injured list, it wouldn't be a surprise if Wesneski's next appearance comes as a starter.

Miley (shoulder) allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out six in four innings in a 9-3 win Tuesday against Cincinnati. He did not factor into the decision.

Tuesday's start was Miley's first since June 10 and his fifth of the season. He only threw 54 pitches in his last rehab start and it was no surprise that he was removed after four innings and 69 pitches. All three runs allowed were driven in by Kyle Farmer as the third baseman had a two-run triple in the first and a solo homer in the third. For the year, Miley has a 3.13 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 18:10 K:BB in 23 innings. His next start will likely be early next week in New York against the Mets.

Manager Dave Roberts said Gonsolin (forearm) isn't progressing as quickly as the Dodgers have hoped, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

After receiving encouraging MRI results on Gonsolin's forearm, the Dodgers have hit a bit of a wall in the process of bringing the 28-year-old righty back. Roberts said he is still optimistic Gonsolin will have time to build back and make his return, it just may take longer than the team originally thought.

Ashcraft (biceps) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The 24-year-old resumed a throwing program last week after he landed on the injured list with biceps soreness Aug. 23, and he's now progressed to mound work. Assuming all goes well Tuesday, Ashcraft is tentatively slated to throw live batting practice Friday.

Gore (elbow) threw 37 pitches over two simulated innings Tuesday and was pleased with how he felt physically, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Manager Davey Martinez said Gore will throw a bullpen session in three days, and if everything goes well, he will begin a rehab assignment. There are still some hurdles for Gore to clear in his rehab, but it's possible he makes a couple starts for his new club before the end of the season.

Matz (knee) will start Tuesday for Double-A Springfield.

He has been throwing bullpen sessions and is finally ready to begin his rehab assignment. It's been a rough first season for Matz in St. Louis, as injuries have limited him to 42.2 innings and he hasn't been consistently effective (5.70 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) when healthy. That said, he has a chance to return later this month and end the year on a high note.

Garrett (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

It was reported in late August that Garrett's injury might cost him the rest of the season, but he has apparently made good progress and is ready to resume pitching in games. As such, he will have a chance to rejoin the big club before the campaign comes to a close.
