Robert Gasser SP | MIL
Brewers' Robert Gasser: Rehab start next week
Gasser (elbow) is on track to begin a rehab assignment with the Brewers' Arizona Complex League affiliate next week, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
That's assuming everything goes well during his live batting practice session later this week. Gasser is coming back from June 2024 Tommy John surgery and could be considered for a role with the big club at some point in August or September.

Nestor Cortes SP | SD
Brewers' Nestor Cortes: Continuing rehab stint
Cortes (elbow) will continue his rehab assignment Thursday with High-A Wisconsin, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.
The veteran left-hander covered three scoreless innings during his first rehab outing with Triple-A Nashville on July 2, and he'll attempt to build up to around the 65-pitch mark Thursday. After his upcoming outing with Wisconsin, Cortes is likely to make an additional rehab start before potentially rejoining Milwaukee's rotation shortly after the All-Star break. Cortes has been on the shelf since April 6 due to a left elbow flexor strain.

Tylor Megill SP | NYM
Mets' Tylor Megill: Shifted to 60-day IL
The Mets transferred Megill (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.
Megill resumed a throwing program last week as he works his way back from a right elbow sprain, but the Mets' decision to move him to the 60-day IL means he won't be eligible to return until mid-August. The transaction clears a spot for the return of outfielder Jesse Winker (oblique) from the 60-day IL.

Clay Holmes SP | NYM
Mets' Clay Holmes: Likely to be piggybacked Sunday
Holmes is expected to start Sunday's game against the Royals but will likely be piggybacked by Sean Manaea (elbow/oblique) in the latter's return from the 60-day injured list, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Before the Mets solidify their pitching plans for Sunday, Manaea will need to make it out of his final rehab start Tuesday with Double-A Binghamton unscathed. Holmes, meanwhile, will start Tuesday's game in Baltimore, so the Mets will be able to manage the workload of both him and Manaea by having them work in tandem during the final game before the All-Star break. The piggyback arrangement is unlikely to last beyond Sunday, as both pitchers should have their own spots in the rotation to begin the second half of the season.

Sean Manaea SP | NYM
Mets' Sean Manaea: Could work in bulk relief Sunday
Manaea (elbow/oblique) will likely piggyback Clay Holmes during Sunday's game against the Royals, provided that all goes well in Manaea's final rehab start Tuesday with Double-A Binghamton, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Puma relays that Holmes will likely start the Mets' final game of the first half, with Manaea following him in what would be his season debut. Manaea initially went on the injured list at the beginning of the season due to an oblique strain, but more recently he's dealt with loose bodies in his pitching elbow. The southpaw went three innings and threw 60 pitches in his most recent rehab outing for Binghamton last Wednesday and should get stretched out a bit more in Tuesday's start.

Kodai Senga SP | NYM
Mets' Kodai Senga: Tracking toward Friday's start
Senga (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday and tentatively lines up to return from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's series opener in Kansas City, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
The right-hander is one of two starters the Mets anticipate returning from the IL this weekend, as Sean Manaea (elbow/oblique) is on track to be activated from the 60-day IL to pitch in Sunday's series finale if he makes it out of a rehab start Tuesday without issue. Senga made a lone rehab start this past Saturday with Double-A Binghamton, covering 3.2 innings while striking out four and allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks. Despite the mediocre results, the Mets were more encouraged by the fact that Senga seemingly came out of the rehab start healthy while also tossing 68 pitches. Assuming he's ready to rejoin the rotation Friday, Senga would likely be operating with a light workload restriction in what would be his first start with the big club since June 12.

Cristopher Sanchez SP | PHI
Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez: Shines again in no-decision
Sanchez allowed one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over seven innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Monday.
Sanchez gave up a second-inning run but otherwise kept the Giants off the scoreboard. The left-hander racked up an impressive 17 whiffs and eight punchouts but got just one one run of support from the Phillies' offense. Sanchez had to settle for a no-decision, but he recorded his seventh straight quality start. During that stretch, the 28-year-old has posted a 1.69 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 46:7 K:BB over 48 innings.

Landen Roupp SP | SF
Giants' Landen Roupp: Settles for no-decision Monday
Roupp allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out three batters over five innings in a no-decision against Philadelphia on Monday.
Roupp did a nice job keeping the Phillies' bats in check, as he allowed just one extra-base hit. However, that double resulted in a run, and Roupp was lifted after five frames having thrown 100 pitches. As usual, the right-hander didn't miss many bats -- he notched just four whiffs and has now punched out four or fewer batters in three straight starts. However, Roupp has bounced back nicely from a 1.2-inning, six-run blowup against the Dodgers on June 21; over four subsequent starts, he's posted a 1.33 ERA across 20.1 frames.

Yu Darvish SP | SD
Padres' Yu Darvish: Mixed results in 2025 debut
Darvish (0-1) took the loss against Arizona on Monday, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out five batters over 3.2 innings.
Darvish finally suited up for the Padres after missing over three months to begin the campaign due to an elbow injury. The right-hander's control was decent despite the absence -- he issued three walks and hit a batter but threw 41 of 63 pitches for strikes -- and he racked up 12 whiffs in the relatively short outing. However, two of the three hits he allowed were doubles, and each of the two-baggers resulted in a run. Assuming Darvish recovers well from the outing, he's tentatively scheduled to make his next start this weekend at home against the Phillies.

Zac Gallen SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Continues turnaround with nine Ks
Gallen (7-9) earned the win over San Diego on Monday, allowing an unearned run on five hits and one walk while striking out nine batters over six innings.
The only run Gallen gave up in the contest was the result of a throwing error in the first inning. Otherwise, the right-hander cruised, as he racked up 13 whiffs and nine punchouts while giving up zero extra-base hits. Gallen posted an ugly 6.23 ERA over five starts in June, but he's rebounded in impressive fashion this month -- through two July starts, he's allowed just one earned run while posting a 19:1 K:BB over 13 frames. His season ERA is still below his usual standard at 5.15, but Gallen appears to be back on the right track given his two most recent starts.
