Montgomery (1-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk over five innings in a 9-4 victory over the Blue Jays. He struck out three.

Montgomery gave up three runs in the top of the second inning Sunday but got plenty of help from the Cardinals' offense to cruise to the win in his season debut. The southpaw has been relatively solid over the last two seasons, posting a 3.65 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 62 starts between the Yankees and Cardinals. He tentatively lines up to make his next start Saturday in Milwaukee.

Shuster (0-1) yielded four runs on six hits and five walks over 4.1 frames, striking out one and taking a loss against the Nationals on Sunday.

Shuster's first big-league inning was a rough one. He coughed up four runs, two of which came on bases-loaded walks. The left-handed rookie settled in afterward but still totaled just one punchout. He threw 45 of 79 pitches for strikes, including seven whiffs. Shuster is lined up for a home matchup against the Padres next week.

Gore (1-0) allowed one run on three hits and four walks over 5.1 innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over Atlanta.

Gore cruised through three shutout frames before Atlanta finally put one on the board in the fourth. He gave up two hits and a walk during that inning. The 24-year-old lefty forced 13 swinging strikes, including seven on his fastball that topped out at 96.5 mph. Gore is lined up for a start in Colorado next week.

Taillon (0-1) allowed three runs on seven hits across four innings to take the loss Sunday against the Brewers. He walked one and struck out two.

Taillon wasn't particularly sharp in his Chicago debut, and the righty was lifted after just 63 pitches and four innings of work. He didn't allow any home runs but also didn't miss many bats and was just generally too hittable. Taillon should be better than this moving forward, though, after posting a 3.91 ERA and 1.13 WHIP last season with the Yankees. He'll get a chance to rebound in his next scheduled outing Saturday against the Rangers.

Rogers (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Mets, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

The left-hander ran into trouble early as New York tallied two first-inning runs on two hits, two walks and an error. He was then chased in the fifth after Tommy Pham's two-run homer. Rogers is looking to bounce back after he posted a 5.47 ERA last year, and he lines up for another tough matchup with the Mets next weekend.

Senga (1-0) had eight strikeouts and earned the win Sunday in Miami, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over 5.1 innings.

Senga struggled with free passes and threw just 53 of his 88 pitches for strikes, but he rebounded well after giving up a run on two hits and two walks during the opening frame. The 30-year-old righty lines up for another matchup with the Marlins next weekend.

Velasquez (0-1) took the loss Sunday in Cincinnati, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk across 4.2 innings. He struck out three.

The veteran right-hander threw 53 of his 86 pitches for strikes and was hurt by the long ball, as Jason Vosler and TJ Friedl each delivered solo homers. Velasquez kept the Pirates within striking distance, but the offense was unable to get him off the hook for the loss. The 30-year-old lines up to take the mound against the White Sox next weekend.

Ashcraft (1-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings against the Pirates. He struck out six.

The right-hander consistently worked from ahead in the count during his season debut, throwing first-pitch strikes to 19 of the 26 batters he faced. A solo home run off the bat of Bryan Reynolds accounted for the lone tally against him. Ashcraft will have a tougher test for his next turn through rotation next weekend in Philadelphia.

Stripling (0-1) yielded four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Yankees.

Stripling wiggled out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning and kept the Yankees scoreless through two frames. He then served up three homers over the next two innings, including a 485-foot rocket by Giancarlo Stanton. Stripling got six whiffs on 11 swings with the changeup and 12 swinging strikes overall. He'll have a better matchup next week at home against the Royals.

Brubaker (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Sunday.

The right-hander is dealing with elbow inflammation and is potentially facing season-ending surgery, so the move to the 60-day IL isn't a major surprise. Brubaker won't be eligible to return during the first two months of the campaign, and at this point it's unclear if he'll be able to pitch at all this season.
