Allard left Sunday's game against the White Sox in the second inning after chatting briefly with a team trainer, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Allard did not have it Sunday, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk while recording just five outs. It seems an injury was in play, leaving Allard's availability for his next start up in the air. His ugly outing raised his ERA to 6.57 through 12.1 big-league innings this season.

The Giants plan to activate DeSclafani (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday to make a start in Cincinnati, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

DeSclafani was shelved earlier this month after experiencing right shoulder fatigue, but he completed a rehab start Thursday without issue and will slot back into the rotation when the Giants require a fifth starter for the first time following the All-Star break. In his outing for the Giants' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate this past Thursday, DeSclafani struck out four over four innings and allowed one run on five hits and no walks.

Wacha (shoulder) said Sunday that he hasn't resumed playing catch since landing on the 15-day injured list July 4, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Despite having failed to initiate a throwing program since being shut down with right shoulder inflammation, Wacha said he still hopes to make a start during the Padres' road series in Toronto or Detroit, but manager Bob Melvin seemed to dismiss that as a possibility. According to 97.3 The Fan San Diego, Melvin intimated that the earliest Wacha would return from the IL would be "at home," presumably referring to the Padres' homestand that begins July 24. Even if Wacha is cleared to play catch in the coming days, he'll likely then need to complete at least one multi-inning simulated game or minor-league rehab start before the Padres are comfortable activating him.

The Padres recalled Waldron from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

San Diego played two Saturday and used a combined eight relievers across both games of the twin bill. Waldron will provide a fresh arm and should be able to handle multiple innings if necessary. The right-hander has worked primarily as a starter at Triple-A this season, pitching to a 7.02 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 66.2 innings.

Syndergaard (finger) tossed five innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out six batters.

While Syndergaard is technically on the IL due to a finger blister, the organization has made it clear that the veteran hurler's time away from the team is primarily to have him reset after posting a 7.16 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over his first 12 starts. Though the right-hander yielded a pair of runs in his first rehab outing, he also demonstrated good efficiency, needing just 52 pitches -- 41 of which were a strike -- to get through five frames. The Dodgers have suggested that they still see Syndergaard as a big-league starter, but he'll need to demonstrate improvement during his time with OKC to reclaim that role. Saturday's appearance was a positive step in that direction.

The Pirates added Priester to the taxi squad Sunday ahead of his major-league debut Monday against the Guardians.

Priester will have a day to get acclimated before the Pirates officially select him to the 40-man and 26-man rosters. Widely considered a top pitching prospect in the organization, Priester has pitched to a 4.31 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 84:35 K:BB in 18 starts (87.2 innings) with Triple-A Indianapolis this season. The 22-year-old is an athletic right-hander with a four-pitch mix, and he will get a relatively soft landing in his debut against a Guardians offense that ranks among the bottom five in scoring.

Gallen (11-4) took the loss Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks over five innings against Toronto. He struck out five.

Gallen struggled with his command early, walking two batters in the first frame before giving up a second-inning leadoff single to Whit Merrifield, who eventually came around to score one of two runs for Toronto in the frame. The right-hander would again be victimized by Merrifield to begin the bottom of the fourth, this time for a solo home run as the Blue Jays took a 3-2 lead. Gallen allowed the leadoff man to reach base in four of his five innings of work and failed to make it through six innings for the first time in his last six starts. He'll look for better results next weekend when the Diamondbacks travel to Cincinnati to take on the Reds.

Garrett didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Orioles, giving up four runs on six hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.

The southpaw got the hook after 81 pitches (53 strikes) with one runner on base and the Marlins ahead 5-4, ensuring Garrett wouldn't end up in the loss column. The 25-year-old remarkably hasn't been on the losing end of a decision since May 8, going 4-0 in 12 starts over that stretch with a 2.89 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 78:10 K:BB through 65.1 innings. He next lines up for a home outing next weekend against the Rockies.

Cobb didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Pirates, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

The veteran right-hander had to wait out a 40-minute rain delay before taking the mound, but Cobb was unfazed and delivered his eighth quality start of the year on 94 pitches (58 strikes). He's allowed two earned runs or less in four straight outings dating back to June 13, posting a 2.14 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB through 21 innings over that stretch. He'll try to keep rolling in his next start, which is likely to come next week in Cincinnati.

Walker (11-3) picked up the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Padres, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out three.

It was far from a dominating performance, but Walker got plenty of run support in a 9-4 victory. The right-hander has reeled off seven straight wins since June 6, a stretch in which he sports a 1.84 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 43:15 K:BB through 44 innings. The key to his recent success has been his ability to keep the ball in the park -- Walker's served up only two homers during his win streak, after getting taken deep 10 times in his first 57.1 innings this season.
