Fried (forearm) will not make his scheduled rehab outing with Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday because the game was postponed, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Fried was scheduled to work five innings, though the game was postponed due to rain. Gwinnett will play a doubleheader Friday, and it's expected that Fried will start in one of the contests. If everything goes according to plan, he could rejoin the big-league rotation next week.

Winans will be called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday to start against the Brewers, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Winans has been rather impressive this season in Triple-A, putting up a 2.81 ERA and 1.01 WHIP through 102.2 innings across 18 appearances (13 starts). With Max Fried (forearm) slated to return within a week or so, it's unlikely Winans makes many more starts with Atlanta past Saturday. However, he will be facing a Brewers offense that ranks last in the NL with a .687 OPS.

Seabold was demoted to a bullpen role Thursday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Seabold was lit up for six earned runs over just 2.1 innings in his last turn through the Rockies' rotation July 15 against the Yankees, ballooning his season ERA to 7.18. Peter Lambert is coming up from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Friday's series opener in Miami.

Quintana (0-1) took the loss Thursday, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings against the White Sox. He struck out three.

Quintana was able to settle in after allowing runs in both the first and second innings, holding the White Sox off the board over his final three frames. However, the Mets couldn't overcome the early deficit, sticking Quintana with a loss in his first start since undergoing rib surgery in March. The 34-year-old left-hander had an impressive bounce-back campaign last year, where he went 6-7 with a 2.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 137:47 K:BB in 32 starts between Pittsburgh and St. Louis. Quintana's next start is tentatively scheduled for next week against the Yankees.

Walker (11-4) took the loss Thursday versus the Brewers after he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out six.

The 30-year-old entered the contest with victories in seven straight starts and had a 1.84 ERA during that span, but Milwaukee tagged him for four runs while Corbin Burnes shut down the Philadelphia offense. Walker still pitched well for the most part, but Christian Yelich gave the Brewers all the offense they would need with a three-run homer in the third inning. The surging Orioles are likely up next for Walker, who has a 4.11 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 94:42 K:BB over 107.1 innings this season.

Burnes (9-5) earned the win after striking out 10 Phillies on Thursday, allowing two hits and a walk over eight scoreless innings.

It's the second straight start with double-digit strikeouts for the right-hander after he failed to top nine in his first 18 outings of the year. Burnes has won four consecutive starts and has a 1.33 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 36:9 K:BB across 27 innings during that stretch. A matchup with the Reds likely awaits early next week, and he has a 2.50 ERA with 26 strikeouts over 18 frames in his three starts against them this season.

Waldron was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.

Waldron didn't get into a game after getting the call a few days ago and has pitched in one game all year for the big club, giving up two earned runs in 4.2 innings on June 24 against Washington. Robert Suarez (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Pepiot (oblique) gave up an earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out two in two innings during his first rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City last Friday.

The appearance was Pepiot's first in affiliated ball during the 2023 season after he had been shut down since late in spring training with a left oblique strain and then suffering a setback during his throwing program in May. Because of his lengthy absence, Pepiot will likely require an extended buildup, so expect him to make at least two more starts in the minors before he merits consideration for a spot in the big-league rotation. Pepiot posted a strong 3.47 ERA in 36.1 innings over nine appearances (seven starts) with the Dodgers as a rookie last season, but most other metrics (1.46 WHIP, 11.1 K-BB%, 4.96 SIERA) didn't paint as rosy of a picture of his performance.

Triple-A Albuquerque placed Davis on its 7-day injured list Tuesday with an unspecified injury.

The Rockies have two openings in the big-league rotation at the moment, but Davis' injury will disqualify him from consideration for filling the void. Even before he was shut down at Albuquerque, Davis might not have been the Rockies' first choice for a promotion after he struggled mightily over his multiple stints with the big club earlier this season. In his five appearances (four starts) at the big-league level, Davis posted a 10.61 ERA and 2.25 WHIP across 18.2 innings.

Miller (knee) is listed as the Dodgers' probable starter for Saturday's game against the Rangers in Arlington, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Miller experienced right knee discomfort in his most recent outing last Sunday versus the Mets, but the injury apparently won't force him to miss a turn through the rotation as he returns to the mound this weekend on five days rest. Since opening his big-league career with a 0.78 ERA and 0.83 WHIP over his first four starts, Miller has failed to reach the sixth inning in any of his subsequent five outings while posting a 7.36 ERA and 1.52 WHIP.
