Lugo allowed five hits and three walks while striking out nine over six shutout innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Lugo had given up a combined 10 runs over his first 8.1 innings in August before his bounce-back effort Friday. This was his first scoreless outing of the season, although he held the Reds to just one unearned run June 30. The right-hander is at a 3.92 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 103:24 K:BB through 103.1 innings over 19 starts. He's projected for a home start versus the Marlins next week.

Woodruff did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against the Rangers. He struck out four.

Following a scoreless three innings to start the night, Woodruff was undone by the long ball in the fourth. Nathaniel Lowe tagged him with a two-run blast, followed a couple batters later by a solo shot from Mitch Garver. Woodruff still pitched into the sixth, allowing a fourth run when Corey Seager came around to score following a leadoff double, and he ultimately escaped with a no decision. Although the four runs were his most allowed all season, the 92 pitches thrown represent Woodruff's highest total since returning from a shoulder injury Aug. 6. His next start is projected to be a home matchup against the Padres next weekend.

Lucchesi (2-0) yielded four hits and two walks over 5.2 scoreless innings Friday, striking out five and earning a win over the Cardinals.

Lucchesi was promoted for his first MLB appearance since May 13 and looked sharp. He coughed up just one extra-base hit and, at one point, retired 12 consecutive batters. He lowered his ERA to 3.54 through 28 frames in the majors. Lucchesi's outing was impressive, but it remains to be seen if the Mets will give him another turn in the rotation.

Kennedy permitted just three hits and one walk over five shutout frames Friday, taking a no-decision against the Blue Jays. He struck out two.

Kennedy dealt with a little traffic early, as the Jays had multiple chances with runners in scoring position over the first three innings but failed to capitalize. The right-hander then retired the side in order in the fourth and fifth before being pulled. Kennedy might be headed back to the minors if the Reds decide Nick Lodolo (tibia) is ready to return next week.

Taillon (7-8) took the loss Friday, yielding four runs (two earned) on six hits against the Royals. He struck out three without walking a batter.

It goes down as a quality start despite Taillon losing his second straight decision. This effort was indisputably better than the last one though, with the right-hander taking a lead into the sixth inning before serving up a two-run shot to Bobby Witt. Taillon has mostly been good since the start of July, posting a 4.03 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 41:12 K:BB through his last 51.1 innings.

The Mets recalled Lucchesi (knee) from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of his start Friday against the Cardinals.

A knee issue has kept Lucchesi out of action for roughly a month, but he's been deemed healthy enough for a spot start with the big-league club. The 30-year-old southpaw holds a 4.45 ERA across 60.2 innings in the majors since 2021 and will likely return to Triple-A after Friday's game.

Suarez won't make his scheduled start Sunday against Washington due to soreness in his hamstring, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Suarez's hamstring reportedly started acting up during the Phillies' series against Toronto and has carried on long enough to have him ruled out for Sunday. Luckily, his injury seems relatively minor, and the Phillies aren't worried about his status long-term. Zack Wheeler will take Suarez's place Sunday against Washington.

Lodolo (tibia) struck out six over three scoreless innings while making his second rehab start Tuesday at Double-A Chattanooga. He allowed no hits and walked two in the 49-pitch appearance.

Lodolo has now allowed just one hit while striking out 10 across five innings through two rehab starts, the first of which came last week in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The southpaw took the hill Tuesday on three days' rest, but he'll receive the standard four days off before making his next start Sunday at Triple-A Louisville, per MLB.com. If Lodolo is able to build up his pitch count into the 60-75 range Sunday, he could return from the 60-day injured list to make his next start with the Reds during the team's series in Arizona the following weekend.

Woodford (shoulder) made his third rehab start Thursday with Triple-A Memphis, striking out three over 1.2 scoreless innings. He gave up one hit and walked one.

Woodford made two appearances for Double-A Springfield before advancing to Memphis as he works his way back from a right shoulder strain. He could get some starts down the stretch for a Cardinals club whose rotation depth has been depleted by trades and injury, but he'll need to build up further before getting a look as a starter in the big leagues.

Wainwright (3-8) took the loss Thursday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over six innings against the Mets. He struck out two.

Wainwright actually pitched well, logging his second quality start of the season. The only damage against the veteran right-hander came via a two-run homer from Pete Alonso in the fourth inning and an RBI double from Francisco Lindor in the fifth, though he also issued three walks on the afternoon. Wainwright holds a 16.20 ERA through three August starts and he's now walked at least two batters in 11 of his 16 outings this season.
