Luis Severino SP | ATH
Mets' Luis Severino: Flashes velo to begin spring
Severino struck out one over two scoreless innings in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.
In his first game action of the spring, Severino showed good velocity, topping out at 97.8 mph with his fastball, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Injuries have derailed the 30-year-old righty's career and helped lead to a 6.65 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over 89.1 innings for the Yankees last season, but the Mets are hoping Severino can stay on the mound in 2024 and provide them with some reliable innings.

Nick Frasso RP | COL
Dodgers' Nick Frasso: Has surgery on right hip
Frasso had a cleanup procedure on his right hip labrum and the Dodgers are aiming to have him back for the Arizona Fall League, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Frasso is currently rehabbing from a labrum injury in his right shoulder that he got surgery for in November. Given the multiple procedures, it's unlikely that the pitching prospect will make his MLB debut in 2024. Frasso split time between Double-A and Triple-A last season and registered a 3.77 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 93 innings.

Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI
Marlins' Jesus Luzardo: Sharp again Friday
Luzardo gave up two hits and a walk over three scoreless innings in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies. He struck out two.
Matched up against Aaron Nola and facing a lineup that featured most of Philly's Opening Day starters, Luzardo fired 28 of 45 pitches for strikes and delivered his second straight clean outing to begin the spring. The 26-year-old southpaw is set as the Marlins' Opening Day starter as he looks to build on a breakout 2023 season that saw him set career highs in innings (178.2), wins (10) and strikeouts (208).

Trevor Rogers SP | BAL
Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Could make spring debut Tuesday
Rogers looked good in a live batting practice session Thursday and could see his first Grapefruit League action of the spring Tuesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
The 26-year-old lefty made only four starts last season due to a variety of injuries, so the Marlins have been cautious with him to begin the spring. Rogers appears to be on track to reclaim a rotation spot, however. "The velo was good. The secondary was great," Miami manager Skip Schumaker said after Thursday's live BP. "We really didn't know what that was going to look like because it has been a while. He was throwing 93-94 mph in a setting with not much adrenaline. To see that and to see the changeup thrown for strikes and the slider was good. A lot of positives." Schumacher indicated Rogers' next outing would come on normal rest, lining him up to get the start Tuesday and giving him enough time to get stretched out prior to Opening Day.

Braxton Garrett SP | CHC
Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Could throw live BP soon
Garrett (shoulder) is building up to his first live batting practice session of the spring, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
The Marlins are being cautious with the 26-year-old southpaw, but Garrett has been throwing bullpens and making good progress after he reported some soreness in his shoulder when he arrived in camp. He'll need to start ramping up in earnest fairly soon if he's going to be ready to handle a spot in the Opening Day rotation, however. If Garrett has a delayed start to the 2024 campaign, it would open up a rotation spot for A.J. Puk, Ryan Weathers or top prospect Max Meyer.

Bryce Elder SP | ATL
Braves' Bryce Elder: Uneven outing Friday
Elder gave up three runs on four hits over three innings in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles. He struck out three without walking a batter,
The 24-year-old right-hander wasn't hit particularly hard, giving up a double to Ryan O'Hearn in addition to three singles, but it was still his second straight shaky performance to begin the spring. Elder is battling Reynaldo Lopez and AJ Smith-Shawver for Atlanta's fifth starter role to begin the season, but he may need to turn things around quickly to stay in the mix despite the fact that he made 31 big-league starts in 2023 and delivered a respectable 3.81 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Brewers' Wade Miley: Dealing with shoulder soreness
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Saturday that Miley is dealing with shoulder soreness, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Murphy previously said Miley has a 50-50 chance at being ready by Opening Day, though the nature of Miley's injury had not been revealed at the time. Miley played catch Saturday without reporting any issues, but the Brewers will continue to build him up slowly given Miley's age and injury history. If the 37-year-old lefty is ready to go for the start of the season, he figures to follow Freddy Peralta as the second starter in the Brewers' rotation.

Carson Spiers SP | CIN
Reds' Carson Spiers: Gives up first spring runs
Spiers allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out two over 2.2 innings in Friday's spring game against the Diamondbacks.
Spiers made his second Cactus League appearance, entering for multiple innings following starter Brandon Williamson. The right-handed Spiers retired the first two batters in the fourth inning then allowed three two-out runs, including a solo home run. Arizona touched Spiers for another run in the sixth. He's one of many candidates for the final rotation spot but a lack of meaningful experience at the upper levels of the minors could lead to Spiers opening at Triple-A Louisville.

Brandon Williamson SP | CIN
Reds' Brandon Williamson: Makes second spring appearance
Williamson allowed three runs on five hits and struck out three over three innings in Friday's spring start against Arizona.
This was Williamson's second Cactus League appearance and first start. The Diamondbacks touched him for runs in the first two innings, before the left-hander ripped off a perfect third frame. Williamson was included as the fifth starter in the latest roster projection from Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. That represents a change from Sheldon's first projection, which had Nick Lodolo (tibia) at the back end of the rotation. Recent news that Lodolo will undergo additional testing clouds the final spot.

Graham Ashcraft RP | CIN
Reds' Graham Ashcraft: Strong spring debut
Ashcraft walked one and struck out two over two hitless and scoreless innings in Thursday's spring start against the Dodgers.
Ashcraft's first Cactus League start was delayed in deference to his September toe surgery. The right-hander wasted little time in showing is stuff was sharp. Ashcraft struck out Mookie Betts on a 99-mph fastball, then Jason Heyward broke two bats during his plate appearance. Ashcraft told Mark Sheldon of MLB.com that he has to work on keeping the slider in the zone and was pleased with the one changeup -- a new pitch -- he threw.
