Kluber (8-13) now has a 3.43 ERA in 194 1/3 innings this season.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners SP James Paxton (finger) makes rehab outing

Mariners starter James Paxton, who has been on the disabled list since May due to a finger injury, made a rehab start for Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, throwing 35 pitches in 2/3 of an inning.

Paxton allowed two hits and a walk in the first inning, and was pulled before the frame was over once he reached his limit. This is the latest in a long series of steps in order to get Paxton back in the Mariners' rotation, and he will likely made more rehab starts before his return.

  • Rays' Jake Odorizzi picks up fifth straight no-decision

Rays pitcher Jake Odorizzi gave up two earned runs in six innings, Sunday against Oakland. The Rays bullpen couldn't close the game, however, and Odorizzi settled for his fifth consecutive no-decision.

Odorizzi has a 3.82 ERA over his five-start no-decision streak.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Mariners SP Taijuan Walker picks up victory

Taijuan Walker wasn't particularly sharp Sunday, but did enough to pick up his ninth win of the season as the Mariners outlasted the White Sox.

Walker went 5 2/3 innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits. He struck out four, but got the hook after just 87 pitches given his struggles and Seattle's desire to hold on to its lead.

The win is Walker's first since a complete-game one hitter on July 31. Since then, Walker (9-7) has been up and down, with three straight no-decisions until Sunday's win.

  • Eduardo Rodriguez gets no-decision for Red Sox

Eduardo Rodriguez allowed two earned runs in six innings and left with the lead, Sunday against Kansas City. The Red Sox bullpen couldn't close the game, however, and Rodriguez settled for a no-decision.

Rodriguez gave up two runs or fewer for the third time in the last four starts. He didn't walk a batter and has gone two starts, totalling 14 innings, without a walk.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Blown save costs Orioles SP Kevin Gausman a win Sunday

Orioles starter Kevin Gausman if finally beginning to realize his potential. Now if he can only get a win.

Gausman was again denied Sunday, this time due to a rare blown save by Zach Britton. But he performed well against visiting Minnesota, allowing just two runs on three hits in seven innings with no walks and eight strikeouts, which tied a season high.

The lone runs scored against him came via a two-run blast in the first inning by Miguel Sano. A Trevor Plouffe single that followed was the last hit he surrendered. Only an error prevented him from retiring the next 20 batters consecutively.

Gausman has given up just 16 runs in 40 innings and five quality starts over his last six outings, but only one win to show for it.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers SP Matt Boyd drops another decision

Tigers starter Matt Boyd pitched well, but didn't get enough offensive support in Sunday's loss against the Rangers.

Over his six innings of work, Boyd gave up five hits, but was victimized by a hit-by-pitch and a bunt single that set the stage for a two-run sixth inning that would prove to be the difference.

Boyd (1-4) is 1-2 since being acquired by the Tigers from Toronto in the David Price deal.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cole Hamels wins first game as starter for Rangers

Rangers ace Cole Hamels picked up his first win with the team since being acquired in a blockbuster deal at the trade deadline, pitching six strong innings Sunday in a victory over the Tigers.

Hamels scattered eight hits, but allowed just two earned runs during his 96-pitch outing. He struck out two and walked two to improve to 1-1 with the Rangers and 7-8 overall.

In his four starts with the Rangers, Hamels has now allowed 5, 4, 3 and 2 runs, respectively.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Angels SP Andrew Heaney gets torched by Blue Jays on Saturday

Angels rookie left-hander Andrew Heaney got lit up by the Blue Jays on Saturday. Heaney yielded eight runs on seven hits over 3 1/3 innings, en route to a 15-3 blowout.

Heaney (5-2) was scoreless over the first two innings. But he got touched for a three-run home run by Josh Donaldson in the third inning and then gave up five more as part of a seven-run fourth inning for the Jays.

This was by far Heaney's worst start of his career, as it's the first time that he allowed more than four runs in an outing. His ERA jumped from 2.43 to 3.39 after Saturday's beating.

  • Vidal Nuno SP | WAS

Vidal Nuno's gem gets wasted by Mariners' bullpen on Saturday

Mariners starter Vidal Nuno was excellent in his outing against the White Sox on Saturday. The left-hander yielded one run on five hits over 6 2/3 strong innings. He walked one and struck out four, but did not factor in the decision after the bullpen let the lead slip away. The Mariners would fall 6-3 in extra innings.

Nuno was sharp on Saturday. The only run he allowed came on a solo home run by Trayce Thompson in the second inning. Aside from that, he did a good job of baffling the White Sox offense, in what was by far his best start of the season.

This was the first time Nuno pitched more than six innings since his very first start of the year, when he also went 6 2/3.
